These are the pill boxes with anti-aircraft gun capability that overlooked RAF Harpur Hill., The pill boxes overlook the field that was E site, a collection of 64 buildings connected by narrow gauge railway, that held the mustard gas shells that were returned to UK from France during WW2. 3:04 shows the anti aircraft gun position.

5:13 were the sites of basic nissen huts used for RAF Munition storage. 6:52 is E site. The white shapes are the remains of hut bases. All dismantled in the 1960';s.

Area 51 of the UK is Porton Down. Or allegedly below RAF Rudloe Manor. However, a mate of mine used to go into Rudloe Manor doing maintenance etc. He reckoned it was full of out of date ratiin packs and a disused diesel generator!!!

It's a shame you missed out on 40foot, its the most stunning place you have never seen, i took my wife there wild camping and needed to take my stepsons there as decoys to give security someone to chuck off after we triggered the motion sensers on the way in. Still, don't tell every one where Q lives lol xxx

My wife who is now 83 was 14 when she lived in Harpur Hill. She remembers well a fire at the quarry that lit up the whole sky and the glow was apparently seen in Manchester. The exact date she can't remember but it would be close to 1953. I've searched but cannot find any info on the fire/explosion. The village was alerted except for them and a few others. Coverup? They knew there were bombs there but to the scale they had no idea. Rumor was that the whole of Buxton could have been wiped off the map.

Harpur Hill remained safe storage throughout, s'why it remains to be seen today.... Unlike Fauld.

I looked at flying my drone. However in the week there is a flight restriction setup between 8 a.m. and 7pm. Any idea why? I assume as a drone operator you've heard of and may use drone assist.

Yeah I also use drone assist by altitude angel . There’s some times gliders up there . So I assume that’s why .

Reading the summary on CoverSafe, it’s due to munitions. As the HSE lab is close by, I presume that it covers their hours of operation.

Remains of RAF base per se', vanished as they demolished the catering College.
They heavy, rusted, steel doored ammo bunkers remain in situ so similar to those out on Spurn Point, near the one time Coastguard Stn.
