During my senior year of high school, I remember waking up early one morning during Christmas break, around 3 am or so. I couldn't get back to sleep so I got up and went downstairs. I figured I'd play some games on my Wii but didn't feel awake enough, so I browsed the menu before finding the weather channel. I brewed some coffee and sat in my living room, noticing that the weather Channel was indicating snow for my area. I looked outside and sure enough, snow was enveloping my area. I got a cup of coffee, sat in my living room, listened to the Wii weather Channel music, and watched the snow fall. To this day, I cannot say I've had a more peaceful morning.
then your father kicked the door open. "RANDOMMANWILL, SHUT THE FUCKKKKKKK UP WERE TRYING TO SLEEP. WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU EVEN-" your dad turned his head in angry confusion at the wii weather channel. "IN THE NAME OF EVERY SHIT IN THE SEWER, WHY ARE YOU LOOKING AT THIS AT THREE IN THE MORNING!!!!!!"
It's honestly making me cry just how many people actually cared about this music. I thought I was weird for liking it as a kid, but it fills my heart with joy to know other people enjoyed it the same way I did 2004-2010 were my favourite years
What happened with Nintendo man, one moment their making consoles with a hole lot personality and charm even in the little things and then the switch is just lifeless and bear with little to no personality to it, and it just I don’t know more reflective of what modern Nintendo is. And it reminds me that we are no longer in the era of Satoru Iwata and Reggie, and that we are now in the era of Doug Bowser and Shuntaro Furukawa.
Reminds me of coming home at 10:30pm from my tiring cashier job at a pharmacy. I'd pull up the forecast channel to listen to this music while I ate my late dinner, all before unwinding in bed to play Animal Crossing City Folk until 3am.
The Wii was a worldly console. It felt like more than just a gaming console, more-so a globally used system that brought the world, us, together. From Japan, to Britain, to the United States, everyone was using this console for more than just games, but as a system full of life and wonder. Nintendo's magnum opus, if you will. There's something oddly comforting about the Wii, yet with that comes an underlying sense of melancholic nostalgia, a relic of art that will always remain in the midst of history, the midst of time; there will never be an era like the Wii era again, there was something tremendously special about this device, and there still is. There is nothing quite like the Wii, nothing quite like this beautiful piece of technology, that lets us sit still for a moment, all of us, to just let us experience the wonder of this masterful system. Listening to this, I miss that time, I miss the Wii, wholeheartedly. And looking back, I would just love to go back to that era, as a kid, sitting in the living room, with my family or by myself, simply just absorbing myself in the sheer adventure and depths of this console. If I could live in that era forever, I sure would. This piece of music depicts my love for the Wii perfectly. It went beyond a gaming console, and it became Nintendo's most ambitious and most artistic console to-date, with such detail and such life that made it flourish. It's an era that proved gaming to be more than just gaming. And ultimately, all l I can say is that I am glad to have been a part of it, and I think I speak for everyone when I say that.
Right, but it doesn't mean that the good times are over. Just get your family over, play the Wii, it'll feel like the good times are still here, right? Don't cry because it's over (in which it never was) smile because it happened.
I am 13, and I have IBS. (Bowel disorder) However, stress brought on my disorder and I've had no excuse to calm down. I wake up in the middle of the night, in fear. However, every single night now, I listen to this, turn off my tv, and leave this on all night. I just want to say, thank you so much for making this version. It's calmed me down. :-)
+Austxrity hey there, it's comments like these that really just move me. I feel so good you wrote to us about this. I really feel good knowing I have helped someone in some way like this. Playing this to study but instead I"m getting teary and starting to think about how loving my parents were for buying me a Wii. My father and mother did a lot to secure this machine by having connections with a local Walmart manager. I played many games with them and they even bought me two games: Twilight Princess and Rayman: Raving Rabbids. Overall, The Wii will forever symbolize the love my parents have given me. It's something I don't think I can ever repay them for but I know I don't have to. My Wii is sadly in run-down shape. It crashes sometimes and has a hard time powering on. Either I'll repair it or find a successor. Whatever the case I will keep it just for the memories. Thanks to all the talent that went into this wonderful machine and its software and thank you to my mom and dad most of all for not only getting one for me, but loving me.
When I become a Psychologist, I want to use this music in the background in my clinic when helping my clients. This music is soothing enough to make the patients comfortable and relaxed.
this song would make me feel depressed & endlessly look around the globe, being curious on whats the weather going on at other places. Made me feel like i wasn’t alone in this earth.
That’s how it is. When I was younger and getting my Wii set up, the idea of doing things online with a console was crazy to me. Even the News and this Forecast channel were ones that I’d check into once or twice a day. Seeing what other exotic countries would be having in terms of weather was something I eventually became interested in. I remember this music vividly because of those times. I was only 10. Our generation had a very, very good Nintendo console to grow up on.
@@shawmou1475 It’s not gone forever. You have to download the homebrew channel off of an SD card to download RiiConnect24. If you’re unsure of what it is, it’s a replacement service of WiiConnect24.
The developers of the channel said that they thought all around the world TV weather channels showed weather with cartoony symbols, red suns, blue umbrellas, etc. and were surprised when they found out in the rest of the world more realistic icons are used
Love reading all these beautiful comments. The Wii was not just a console, it was a childhood, an era, a feeling, an experience. I remain in wonder at how we are all united by this simple piece of technology that brought us such nostalgia and peace
I hope that whoever reads this comment, this comment finds you well, and that this music can help you in a way to make you feel better, for studying, or just help you fall asleep.
If you tell a story or anything related about nostalgia, it doesn't matter if you sound corny, because we all understand how good the feeling of nostalgia is.
The Wii was more than just a console. It brought so many people together, and it made so many memories. It’s a timeless piece of gaming history, and I hope it’s remembered for years to come.
This reminds me of the day that i first got my Wii. I remember coming home from school, it was sometime in 07. The start of the year. Couldn't get it for Christmas (Keep in mind, i was 8 at the time) so my mother promised that if i did all of my homework without complaining for the entire year, she would buy it me it. If i complained once, she would take it back. I kept the promise, as well as played the hell out of my Wii. First night i got it, it was a Friday. Right after school i invited my friend over to play with me. We played for at least 5 hours straight, wen't to bed, and in the morning we played from 8am until 2pm. We literally only played Wii Sports, it was that fun for us. I'm sure it was that fun for everyone, it was a new experience and new console. Something new that not a single person ever did before this. I have so many memories i want to go back and relive. I really do hope that sometime in my life time, it becomes possible to relive memories because i would probably go back to my memories of the Wii, over and over again. At the time, i took it for granted. I never thought that when i was 18, i'd be looking back at that time and thinking how bad i want to go back. It just shows to take in every moment like it's your last, that way your memories will be full and you'll be able to close your eyes and resee the things you miss. Thank you for this, man. Seriously. Was a great time, i miss it.
@@WantBadtime Yes indeed! Just turned 20. I still remember writting this comment and still come back to this video all the time. Reminds me when my son and I would play games and then he would ask to watch Netflix. You never know what you got till it's gone. Memories that you can never get back. Miss you Jonathon
In high school I skipped the partying, sports, and girls. Instead I played games with my friends. No regrets. Lots of great memories on the Wii. Hope to find them again someday.
Move the joysticks and watch things move. Point the Wii remote at the screen and make things move. Really a piece of innovative art for the video game community and even non-gamers. Old folks in retirement homes played this console. A naturally great concept for everyone and a great way to engage the mind
The Wii was truly magical. Theres something with its style, the Menu, the overall presentation, that gives me a happy and calm feeling. I love the style of the Menu and the Music was perfect. I miss the Wii. I miss the channels. I wish Nintendo releases a Wii classic sometime

I miss the classic Opponent disconnecting in a 4 player lobby and everyone has to re-que in brawl. Good ol days of Nintendo Sucking at Networking, and they still do today. The Japanese were notorious for their art crafts especially during Art Noveau, and still today they are famous for their crafts regardless if physical or digital.
I will hereby recognize and thank the Wii Forecast Channel for driving me to be a Geography Nut. It helped me recognize places such as Abuja and Sri Jayawardenapura Kotte. Thank you very much, Wii. I will never give you up...
Maybe it was just me, but even in the middle of the night, I loved it. I remember even bean woken up from the blue light breathing, and I would always power it on and see who wrote me… it was only when it was a message from the news channel or something else I was bummed. 😂
I remember going around the globe and looking at the forecast around the world and thinking about what were doing the people living there, I was like 11 yo, but damn this brings me back there, good old times, now I'm 22...time really flies...
NoStAlGiA omg. This just reminds me of the times where I would message my friends using the wii messaging system before any of us had phones and we would just talk for hours on end. Thank you for making this video. Quite possibly the single most relaxing/nostalgic things I have ever listened to. It's too powerful for words really. I feel dumb saying all of this about a wii channel song but it truly is just moving.
Makes me glad that the Homebrew community exists. They managed to bring back something from my Childhood. Something I thought would be gone forever after Nintendo shut it down. Just shows how dedicated and attactched fans are to keep their favorite console alive.
Kazumi Totaka not only composed music for the Wii menu soundtrack, but did composed wave race 64 and yoshi's story as well. He is one of my favorite video gaming composers and this song is a reminder of making ambient music to feel as if in outer space. The song is very relaxing to listen when it's time for a nap or good amount of rest and back then in the Wii's life cycle, even now I can say that it does stood the test of time.
A few weeks ago i went for a walk during an evening, i went to my nearest graveyard to my Grandpa's (from my dad's side) and my Aunt's that i unfortunately never met (from my mom's side) graves and while it was peaceful it over there. When i was at my aunt's grave, i think i saw a little bit of the northern lights at the same time. It was beautiful. And such a coincidence. Anyways, a bit after 9pm i left and listened to this while walking back home. That was the best walk I've ever had. Even though nothing really remarkable happened, it was just so peaceful. During many nights when i go to sleep i often put this on. Helps me to fall asleep. Sleeping is a bit difficult for me, i often watch a video or a movie/series to help me fall asleep, but recently I've been sleeping to music. It's a great way to fall asleep early.
I’m glad this music could help, as someone who also can’t fall asleep on there own, it’s crazy how much this helps (Also I am sincerely Sorry for your loss)
I miss this era of gaming. Everything now is too controversial for everyone, and it feels like everyone forgot how to just kick back and have fun. That's what the Wii was for me. Fun. I remember all the games I'd play with my little brother, or solo games I'd play when I was by myself. Yeah, the specs weren't great, but gaming isn't about the specs or performance. It's about the fun you have. And the Wii was so much more than gaming. You could hop on RUclips, Netflix, check the weather, etc. I'm glad I still have mine. I still even have the virtual console stuff I've downloaded to it. Every so often, I hook it up and take a nice nostalgic trip down memory lane, enjoying the memories of all the fun I had with this great device.
I've always had an idea for a game where you just go and explore around a giant world and take photos with a soundtrack to said game being something similar to this. Ambient enough to set the overall tone for the area you're in yet never too over the top, something relaxing and fitting for the natural environments you visit, you could even make it dynamic and have the layers come in as things might start to pick up. Unfortunately, such a game seems to niché of a concept to really be made and it sucks for me as experiencing beauty naturally is something I have no access to so to explore it even digitally would be enough for me. It would even be cool to see such a concept explore a multiplayer concept for those long-distance friendships. By the way, the mixing and mastering you did on this is absolutely fantastic; you gave it much more atmosphere with the light reverb you added and it just sounds so much more real with it being in stereo.
Perfect stress reliving music. As someone with minor autism, I would have really high anxiety levels and at times cry. I’m going to be 19 in July and listening to this helps lower my stress and anxiety levels by a lot. But this much like everyone else said can help me fall asleep
I just found this 10 hour track and your comment from 18 or so months ago. Since this Wii music track evokes a lot of memories, I just thought you are now coming up on 20 and look what's going on in the world. Yet, here this music still is and hopefully you are well! Cheers from NorCal.
I remember when I was 8 back in 2007, I would open the weather channel at night and look for a place that was raining. Since I loved the music with the rain sounds in the background, sadly I haven’t been able to find this song with the rain. Tho, I’m still glad that this song is on here regardless. I’m 19 now, and am having trouble sleeping, this will help I’m sure.
An endless fragment floating in an eternal space, with stars surrounding it, near a blue and green ball. A lovely world, spinning, and shining lights. A large light beams on the other half, and darkness fills the other side, but on that ball, the Galaxy can be seen.
This song makes me so sad because my childhood is over and this song will forever exist but as the years go by less and less people will remember it just like everything else in the world :((
Jesus I haven't heard this in such a long time. I really miss this channel. The weather was never more amazing than when it was displayed on a beautiful, interactive globe and accompanied with some absolutely stunning music. As a kid I would open this channel and just relax. This and the music player on PS3, which also displayed the globe, were always so peaceful and expansive feeling.
I remember how things used to be and listening to this living in Seguin & New Braunfels Tx. Getting off work and relaxing to this. And I love you Jonathon
I love this time of the year, when exams are over and you can finally relax. I'll get the Wii and maybe the PS2 out of the closet and play all the classics again. You do that too. You know we deserve it.
I have to admit, I did miss this channel. I kinda liked the music. Those days must be nostalgic to you now. Falling asleep to the Weather forcast channel. :P
I remember the days. On a rainy day booting up the good ol wii. Choosing from all of the varieties from Customizing my Mii, Playing Mario or even using the Wii food channel. This console was a damn work of art that was perfected. The wii was so unique like none other. I remember all how careless I was. When I first got this console. My parents buying me something that they had to put lots of their hard earned money into. The wii was the best console of all time. Even thought we all evolved, either if we went to the PS3 or Xbox 360 or even the Wii U we all grew up with an amazing console which didn’t even have to be a wii, but all wii’s owners from all kinds of backgrounds know this console could make your day go from a 0-100 when ur booting up some mario kart. I could go on for hours, hell this can be longer than an essay but, the wii was so perfect to me and many others.
I don't know exactly what "it" is, but the Wii had something no console before and no console since has had. The Wii was much more than a console it was an experience, and a work of art.
The nostalgia for this is unreal, The Wii was my first ever game system and without it I don't think I would be into Nintendo at all. I specifically remember spinning the globe, on the news and forecast channel it made you feel like you were with thousands of other people. Thank you Nintendo and thank you for the wii and all the memories it gave me.
Getting the Wii for the first time. Wow. It wasn't exactly the Gamecube, but instead, it was something new. You were that age where you wanted to explore, one of the first systems to properly implement internet. You had no true interest for weather, or the news, or even the Wii shop, you just went there to explore the channel and see what it had to offer. The music was soothing and unique, couldn't quite explain it. Nothing will ever, EVER come close to the Wii. It wasn't a system, it was an experience.
This song reminds me of my childhood playing classic games and always in the mornings before school and at night before bed i would spend about an hour just playing the weather channel, it brings back so many memorys, and i would also fall asleep to this tune. RIP Weather channel, i'll see you again in heaven :(
This song is making me sad thinking of all the good times I had with my Wii. I’m glad that I picked it over the PS3 in 2007. I also had a DS and a PSP that I shared with my brother and cousins. 2012, my mom could get me the PS3 with Uncharted 3 and FIFA 13. I bought LittleBigPlanet and a friend gave me Skate 3 to keep. PS4 was too expensive at the time. 2015, my parents got us the PS4. Best Christmas ever at the time. That was the last ever games console my parents bought me. I’m 19 and can buy my own consoles. Managed to buy a PS5 and PC by doing a few small jobs and saving money. 2012-2013 I regretted not having the PS3 earlier but without it, the joys and memories of the Wii wouldn’t be there. Now I look back and I’m relieved that everything happened the way it did. We can’t do anything about the past so either you cherish the past event or forget it. This song was made by Nintendo but I also remember the Sony consoles I also owned. It makes me smile how the companies make something to enjoy childhood, teen years and adulthood enjoyable. You may play less or stop altogether as an adult but you just remember being happy. Truly beautiful. Nintendo, I massively thank everyone who produced this masterpiece. Also massive thanks to everyone in Nintendo for continuing to do what you done for me for anyone who buy your consoles. Big thanks should also go to Sony, Atari, SEGA, Microsoft and any other company who contributed to the inception and growth of video and computer games. Magnificent works of art like movies, music, games and books make you forget you’re in the real world, the one that’s cruel so many times. Cruel and cold, yes, but you still want to live a fulfilled and enjoyable one before we all need to leave it in our own due time. These activities make a really bad day better, turn tears to happiness and relieve stress, which is important for managing anger and making sure you’re ok physically and mentally. Time and everything is just different Great, this music made me ramble on joyfully like some hyperactive, sugar-crazed kid with no off-switch. I thank you Nintendo all the way to the nearest galaxy. Continue, alongside your allies and rivals, to do what you’re doing to people of the past, present and future. Would love to ramble on but I got college in a few hours. Peace
I only recently discovered this soundtrack through one of the many ubiquitous Frutiger Aero playlists. This song hits in a different way to the others like LEASE or the Wii Party menu theme. While those seemed like hopeful and happy visions of the future, this sounds like a melancholy, bittersweet goodbye to the past and what is no longer. It's beautiful. Hearing this I can imagine lying in a field, gazing up at the stars and the endless expanse of beautiful space while the sound of distant motorway traffic emanates. I wish I could go back to 2011. Even just for one day. Innocence. Joy. Fun. Though that'll never happen the memories of the early 2010s will stay with me forever, albeit fuzzier and fuzzier by the year, as I was only young in that time (I was born in 2008). Oh Frutiger Aero, where did you go.
The Wii is a console, used by both young and old, and I hope they all are able to relive old memories, or make new ones. The Wii was a memory maker. The smallest details like this music, can make a difference. But no matter what, you will always have a great time with the Wii, whether you play some Mario, or Wii Sports, or Zelda, or any game. The Wii was a game changer back then and still is today. The Wii is still used by millions still to this day, and I hope we can keep it alive that way. Thank you Nintendo for making a console no one will ever forget. For even if Nintendo have, the community will not. This is probably one of the only consoles that got there old servers back up. It’s amazing how much the Wii community has brought the Wii back to life. Also thank you for making this video, it truly helps me sleep. Also Thank you to all who read this. Thank you for taking the time to read this. I’m sorry its a long comment. P.S. I re made this comment because I accidentally deleted it. Thank you and Good Night.
Its amazing how we listen to this same music and yet we all have vastly different memories and nostalgic feelings attached to it. Incredible when you think about it.
I’ts 3 am and I got woken up by some drunk dude but I’m gonna try to sleep to this now it’s beautiful adding reverb and whatever else you did made this song really relaxing 😄 I appreciate people like you
This makes me so so happy! The whole point of me making this was not only to help document and preserve this amazing song, but also to help others relax and sleep. Thanks for sharing your thoughts with me, sleep well friend!
I restored this channel and the other ones with RiiConnect24 a few years ago, and ever since then the Forecast and News channels, among others, have become a daily routine. I love checking in the weather, even if the details are vague, only because of the presentation and music. Sometimes I just leave it on at the globe, mostly at night, and relax or do stuff while it's in the background. Even though I never experienced the original run of the channel, it gives me this very nostalgic vibe. Something about this one music is so soothing and peaceful I can't quite put it into words. I can say for sure that I absolutely love it though.
Just lying in bed at 12 am thinking about my life. The Wii might seem like a console but it’s importance is unexplainable. I’m tearing up thinking about my memories with this console. I would give anything to go back. You don’t realize how good you got it until it’s over.
Thank you for this. I miss the days where I had no worries as a kid and could just browse my Wii for minutes. They would turn into hours without me knowing. Now As a high school/ college student everything has changed. Nostalgia. Thank you for this.

Have loved this video since stumbling across it over 2 years ago. I bought a Wii console for my kids in 2008, and loved sitting on the couch with them at night exploring the world through the Wii Weather channel. Thanks so much for posting this!! Takes me right back :)
I remember during COVID periods in March, April and May 2020 till late June when the rules weren't that strict in my country and I was finally able to go outside again, I would put this music during evening sit at the balcony and watch the stars New lockdown in November 2020 till March 2021 and I couldn't sit at the balcony because it was cold so I brought a chair close to my window, turned off the lights and watch the stars or the rain fall It was so calming and I may repeat again this summer
I would scroll around the globe looking at the forecasts for foreign cities and daydream about being a world traveller/jetsetter type of person. This song gave me a feeling that a blissful escape to a new land could be a real possibility.

It will never be like the older times when i put it on to get to sleep to.But even then, this song still gets me to sleep,it helps so much so, *thank you, thank you for putting this up* .
I hope your "now" will always be the best part of your life. And that if it isn't, you can find the path to make it so. Having a past you miss is somehow both wonderful and painful, but don't ever give up on your now just because it is different. Carry the good things forward, celebrate what brings you joy, but never stop improving your now.

Right, but it doesn't mean that the good times are over. Just get your family over, play the Wii, it'll feel like the good times are still here, right? Don't cry because it's over (in which it never was) smile because it happened.
Pudding me too
Amen to that. I used to play this at bed time. It honestly helped me sleep into a very peaceful slumber. God bless to all.

Wow. You have great parents. Hope you will be able to play your wii again.

When I become a Psychologist, I want to use this music in the background in my clinic when helping my clients. This music is soothing enough to make the patients comfortable and relaxed.
I'm a special education teacher and I have it playing in my office when I meet with students.
this song would make me feel depressed & endlessly look around the globe, being curious on whats the weather going on at other places. Made me feel like i wasn’t alone in this earth.
but of course that was me when i was 14 yrs old.
Our generation had a very, very good Nintendo console to grow up on.

yeah, in japan the icons used are red suns with orange spikes, an umbrella, and cartoony clouds, since these are recognized easily in japan.

I hope this doesn’t get taken down, but I just wanted to say that this video has legitimately helped me go to sleep for nearly the whole year now.
I would love a game like this, don't give up hope! If you need an Audio guy, I am your man!

Jesus I haven't heard this in such a long time. I really miss this channel. The weather was never more amazing than when it was displayed on a beautiful, interactive globe and accompanied with some absolutely stunning music. As a kid I would open this channel and just relax.

Time and everything is just different
Great, this music made me ramble on joyfully like some hyperactive, sugar-crazed kid with no off-switch. I thank you Nintendo all the way to the nearest galaxy. Continue, alongside your allies and rivals, to do what you’re doing to people of the past, present and future. Would love to ramble on but I got college in a few hours.

I still remember the absolute joy I felt when I opened the wii on my seventh birthday... I can’t believe that was ten years ago...
Love this music, this should add in Switch 2, all gaming consoles and platforms
Agreed
*Thank you so much for this video* .Im horrible at getting to sleep,i usually end up going to sleep at around 4 AM but this really helps. It soothes me, and i think a lot of other people say the same.I miss the forecast channel and even with RiiConnect24,its just not the same, because i know that its really gone. No fanmade service beats the truth.
Great words, I love this!
