What I like about your videos Tom is that they are real world.....showing the problems you encounter when you are a tradesman. Anybody who has experience of working practically will know exactly what I`m talking about. Great videos buddy and I agree about the click bait stuff on youtube. You always go the extra mile for the customer...that's first class in my book.👍👍👍
Thanks for the support mate, I'm so pleased you enjoy my videos, I just try to keep them as real as possible showing the good, the bad and my ugly face
Great video thanks you are the best Plumbing RUclipsr IMHO there is a mix of commercial and domestic which makes it interesting a lot of the other RUclipsrs just do house bashing plumbing which has been done to death on RUclips.
You are a true star to get in some of the tight spaces you do to get the job done. Your knowledge and skills are very impressive, high praise indeed from an electrician.
Blimey Tom that immersion heater job was a right struggle. Good job the immersion came out alright .. Then your next job was worse that toilet put up a good fight . 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks for the support as always John, I was relived to get the immersion, I have only damaged one cylinder and it was my own in my old house, I tore the copper a bit but just soldered it back up. It never leaked all the time I lived there
That cylinder looked well dodgy Tom, you need to be flexible to get into those tight places so well done as always, and aren’t wc repairs a pain, starts with one thing end up being two or three things to replace. Hope you have a good weekend 👍🚽
Thanks for the support as always Peter, you are right about toilets being a pain, I thought I might as well change the flush valve when it was apart, I don't think Geberit make them old ones any more that were in it so it would have needed to be all stripped down to change it
Had to change the donut washer on my 35 year old Armitage Shanks close coupled w/c, as a chippie it took me most of the day, a real struggle, the before looked as gruesome as yours, but hey ho sorted it out with new parts and as good as new now, great video Tom, wish I had seen it before hand to see even the best struggle at times and now makes me feel a little better, at the time the air was blue
Sometimes this job is a struggle, it can be the straightforward ones that cause the most problems, thanks for watching as always mate, have a great weekend 👍
Watching you on that cistern job, so many times I’ve had that & thinking, we need to charge lot more for those sort of jobs!! Top video again Tom-absolutely real world plumber jobs 😁👍🏻
Well done Tom great work as always, I half expected the cistern to crack with everything being rusted up but you did it. As a amateur plumber if I ever need to do a toilet I am going to call you !!!
They are normally alright when the bolts are on the plate like thos one, if the bolts go through the cistern and the pan, they can be really hard to get off if the bolts are rusted, thanks for watching as always, have a great weekend 👍
Them toilet jobs are when the quote “fuk my life😤” just appears 😂 When the plate rusts that much Tom and cross threads the plastic 😡 it’s not pleasant!! Although I think that one was tightened by Arnold 😂 top job as always bud, I’m so glad the channels doing well for Tom because there’s no fakery just genuine work 👌🏼
@@PlumbLikeTom 😂😂 I could feel that Tom! too be fair you were more patient than I would’ve been, safety squints would’ve been engaged and that nut would have been licking the grinder 😠😁
Hi Tom, some struggling needed there from accessing that tight space to wrestling with that toilet cistern. You certainly do get the job done no matter what the circumstances, well done as always Tom. Have a great weekend and take care. 👍👍👍
Great videos,I've just found you on here so you have a new subscriber. Seems like you tackle the jobs that a lot of folk would shy away from, good on you👍. Treat yourself to some wurth ultra 2040,far better than rubbish wd40,although it does leave a film of ptfe behind.
Fair point mate, I was originally going to reuse the flush valve but decided to change it, in hindsight I should have just muliti tooled it off, thanks for watching as always 👍
You're like me Tom , you dont mind getting stuck in ! Unlike that newbie guy on you tube who is more interested in showing off all his latest fancy tools. We didn't have half the amount of tools when i started 40 odd years ago , but we still managed to get the job done.
There are some tools that do make the job easier but there are also a lot of gimmicks on the market now. You can't beat the old ways most of the time, thanks for watching 👍
That cylinder is about to blow up, you might as well, so you can create enough space to work. By the way, I hope you don't mind me asking you. I'm struggling to find a good plumber up here in North Yorkshire. Do you know anyone up here that can carry a boiler system installation? Thanks in advance.
Thanks for the support as always mate, they weren't the best jobs, they all pay though and you don't always know what you are walking into, once I'm there I might as well fix it and get paid
I couldn't feel my ladder when I was trying to get back over the wall, my legs were just dangling, thanks for watching as always, have a great weekend 👍
I haven't used the Mcapline plates yet on a job, I have tried a display one and the nuts do go on really easy, the treads at the start of kind of tapered so it kind of starts itself, they don't make a 2" one though so it will only fit certain toilets, thanks for watching as always
@@PlumbLikeTom yeah I've had a play with one and they do bite into the bolt very easy, my concern is getting them nipped up enough for a good long lasting seal 🤣 If you use one lemme know how you get on
Immersion manufacturers usually state that sealants like boss white shouldn't be used, partly for that reason but mainly because it can damage the washer. I usually just put about 5 turns of ptfe tape to help the next guy but that's all. That said, on corroded flanges on old cylinders, a bit of boss white/jet blue can't do any harm.
I like to jet blue mine, I think it was me who fitted that last time about 4 years ago, they do seem to come out Ok especially on the older cylinders with the raised bosses. The newer ones are recessed more into the cylinder and they are more awkward, thanks for watching 👍
I probably should take it up as a hobby, it was hard to make out in the video but there was a big drop below, I was at the top of my ladder and I had to pull myself over that wall, thanks for watching, have a great weekend
That immersion job could have been worse , when you unscrew it and pull it up only to find it hits the roof before you can get it out. That Macdee flush valve, that's a fluidmaster, so who's copied who ?? 😯
It could have been a lot worse, I find it's normally the hot outlet it collides with as some muppet has run it straight across the top, I guess macdee has copied fluidmaster, they may even be made in the same factory , thanks for watching as always mate
My man didn’t even bother pulling up the sleeves just went straight in that tank to grab that bung 😂😂 cracks me up
I like to get stuck in, thanks for watching as always mate, have a great weekend 👍
