    Dr. Janet Rubin, Endocrinologist and Distinguished Professor at the University of North Carolina Medical School, discusses the drug EVENITY.

  • @msfreedomwatch3983

    I had one injection and had a SERIOUS reaction. I am 57, in great shape, active, healthy, super diet, and I don't do drugs. I've had osteoporosis for many years. After my first Evenity, I woke up at 2AM with extreme shivers, nausea, aches, and I couldn't walk without holding on to the walls. It was HORRIBLE. It finally subsided by 11AM. I'll never do Evenity again. Then my doctor put me on Prolia. I had zero side effects for 5 injections. But now my bones ache, my lower back and hips hurt, I am less flexible, my joints hurt, 2 of my teeth cracked and I had to get them removed. Most doctors don't tell you the possible side effects of these injections so you really need to research before trying them. I wish I never agreed to any injections. Now I'm in the "prolia trap" which I only recently learned about. I've decided to stop all drugs and implement more protein, milk, and K2 to my diet. I go to the gym almost daily and now I'll add more weights and less cardio. It's really sad what millions of women go through when having osteoporosis, but I say a high protein diet (130g per day) and appropriate weight bearing exercises is much better than a $1300.00 synthetic, man made injection with no history or data on the long term adverse reactions that may lie ahead. Use your best judgement and research what other's have reported before being a lab rat.

      Thank you for sharing your experience and I’m sorry you had such a rough time. I have just been diagnosed with osteoporosis and do not trust any of these treatments. I am 65, active and eat a healthy diet. If not for the DEXA, I would not know there was anything wrong and I certainly don’t want to induce issues where none exist because of an ill-advised treatment.

    National news in Australia tonight warned about the heart attack & stroke risks from taking Evenity. It hasn't been approved here long but we've had several confirmed deaths from Evenity. Our Therapeutic Goods Administration is usually slow to give warnings about drugs it approves, but was quick with Evenity so the risk is serious. The drug will be more restricted and have more warnings.

    Hi Margaret, thanks so much for videos with doctor Janet Rubin. They are very helpful in understanding ost. meds. However, if you ever have her on again, can you please ask her this specific question: Is there any evidence/info from her research as to the QUALITY of the bones in taking these meds. She mentioned quality in relation to atypical femur fractures but aside from this concern, are bones actually better from the meds (or do they become brittle overall, even if atypical femur fracture never occurs and a person takes meds for under five years, as in Fosamax). This is a major concern that would so helpful to clarify. Thanks so much !

    • @ThuyTran-ci2et
      @ThuyTran-ci2et Год назад +5

      I asked this because a major concern is these meds build POOR quality bones (brittle), even if DEXA shows improvement.

    • @wandayonder9772
      @wandayonder9772 Год назад +9

      The guest addressed that in the interview. Basically, she poo-poo'd the idea of bone quality being discussed "on social media". She seems to miss the point that we all have a right to consider how long the newly formed bone will last (quality) and how protective it will be (quality). She pushes for people to take it but underplays its limitations and unknowns. It's a new drug and her confidence in it seems premature to me.

    My first shot was on a Monday my left jaw hurt that night. I have RA and my entire body had a really bad flare. My flares feel like I have the flu the body aches are so bad. On Wed following the shot I had a dentist appt. To pull tooth. I told him I got a shot for bones on Monday and I was not sure what happed but my jaw hurt. The Dentist asked me what the shot was for and I told him to fix my bones. And he cancelled our Appt. Right then and said “ I am sorry and we can’t be sure but if we pull your tooth. It may not heal” .
    I called the Dr that gave me the shot and told him of all these things. He told me to come down the hill so I did. He told me that these things possibly could not possibly happen to me it’s like a 0.1% chance that my jaw would hurt my left leg thigh hurt too but because of my back problems, I blamed it on that, but it’s been about five or six months and my leg still hurts really bad my neck hurts I get headaches every night. And it keeps me awake. My entire body pain has been bad. I blame it all on my back however I’m not sure this is the case anyway, the doctor said just try one more shot and I said OK but I’m gonna have to wait a few months so I waited a couple of months and then I got another shot and everything got really, really bad . And I wonder when it’s all going to go away. I told him that’s it no more. And I will never do do another shot. The Dr. said he wanted me to try prolia I read up on that I will not do that either.

Sometimes a drug is withdrawn after the 7 year trial use period, and sometimes there are BIG warnings placed on them as a result of the drug's harms or limitations being recognised over time.
