- On May 3, University of Washington President Ana Mari Cauce invited the University and broader communities to join in the development of a 25-year vision to advance the health and well-being of people around the world by leveraging the capabilities and opportunities we have here at the University of Washington and in the Puget Sound region.
The health of an individual or a community involves more than just the absence of disease. Issues from poverty and equity, to health care access, to climate change and governance all combine to affect the health and well-being of populations here in King County and around the world. Given the breadth and strength of our education, scholarship, and service, and the capabilities of our many partners and collaborators throughout this region, we have a remarkable opportunity to lead the development of solutions to health challenges and disparities, and to engage our students - from many disciplines - in even greater ways in this work.
