Watching you put the catfish rod inbetween your legs, and reel it in while still trying to manage the fish was so comedic, and reminds me of some of the moments ive had fishing
@@zhaminoes5830 yep i did grass carp (asian carp) are not the common carp lol thanks i had a guy tell me he read grass carp are naturalized now so i looked it up must have pulled up the article on common carp by mistake thanks bud
This one time I was wading and thought I hooked a monster. As I was fighting it, it surfaced about 15 feet away. His tail smacked the water, that’s when I realized it was a huge beaver. I carefully got it as close as I could and cut the line. I saw him swim over to the shore. I think he was okay, poor guy.
Simple Man had one get really pissed at me last trip out. Hooked into a solid 4lber, it must have ran into the beaver because I damn near had my rod rip out of my hands. As my fish surfaced the beaver surfaced too and gave a big angry tail slap on the surface. That was good of you to try to limit the amount of line you left on the beaver.
I hooked a seagull in mid flight while mackerel fishing, just cast as usual and saw the lure and gull collide. Luckily it just got hooked into the wing feathers. It dropped straight into the sea and I managed to reel it in and release it ! Mad thing was its distress calls summoned a bloody horde of others, it was like a scene from the birds.
When spillway is running fast, drifting bait works really well for big cats. And from what I keep hearing, asian carp are good eating if you clean them fast and get them on ice.
Been catching whites up there right where you started should be picking up soon. Red with green tail crappie jig has been hitting mostly with a few on green or white curly tail grub.
Never fished for cats there. Most of the people fishing for cats are down below the booies. Went today and mygirlfriend and I the hall was white bass 15
DUDE!! What a day!! Well done for putting it up, shows character. I feel for you. I’m working through your catalogue in reverse and love seeing how great you’ve become at fishing. Keep doing what your doing, it’s a ray of light and happiness for me during these hard COVID 19 times👍❤️ thankyou
The last time I fished this spillway I caught a very large gar and a carp, my girlfriend caught several hybrid striped bass, crappie, walleye, flathead catfish and others I couldnt identify and I had to bait her hooks and take the fish off the hook and clean the fish once we got home. Oh and im not complaining! Any day fishing is a great day!
I fished Purdy Slough, Long Lake, Horseshoe Lake and Wick's Lake in Washington State. My PB is: swim goggles, large orange starfish c.1kg, several skulpins smaller than my Mepps, multiple mollusks, kelp. Lots of lost lures. edit -that's not my PB. It's literally all I've ever caught. I enjoy the sport, but I am bad at it.
This spillway is my home lake/spillway grew up fishing it and still do to this day. always a fun time out there. it always a surprise on what kind of fish you catch there. overall an awsome lake!
That's why it's called fishing and not catching. I love that you even post not such good days. I at least know that I'm not the only one with trips like that.
You also inspired me to try an ultralight set up! My first time i caught a fish on it was a 17" Michigan Steelhead, and what a fight on 5lb braid! Thank you for all the content, I cant wait for the next video.
We were the ones who caught the catfish, just based on the title. Until that carp showed, I was waiting for a rubber boot or a Michelin tire to come up.
So...I'm not seeing the problem. You went fishing, hooked a really big fish, had a great time bringing it in.... and even landed it! Oh boohoo, it was a carp. This is not a disaster. You got some good footage, had fun bringing her in, and you have some great bait. If you get adventuresome, carp is actually pretty good eating. Hey, maybe catching this carp was the essential first step in the epic battle you'll have with a record breaking Channel Cat in the future
Hahaha Oh my god I laughed so hard when you trample on the big fish head! that was so hilarious to see how to end these life of evasive specie. I feel your love for the native fish, and also feel you show no mercy of the alien fish!
Yeah l had a dudes Boxer get in my line yesterday. Fish were not biting. Dogs were up in my business. Finally left and hit a pond. Biggest Bass of the season. That said, the fish stomp was epic. Keep on, keeping on brother.
That's why they call it fishing. Otherwise they'd call it catching. Hey at least your out there trying. Good time buddy. Thanks for taking us with you.
This spillway reminds me of a very popular one out here in Manitoba. Loads of pelicans, loads of big carp, drum and of course monsters cats! Average size here is 35”
Maybe make and place strategically some neoprene bumpers on your camera for excursions like this. If it falls again then it will have some protection. Hope it works, and thanks for the excellent video footage.
i wanna know how you film your videos. in some you have a bunch of cool footage from drones or tripods far away or just other really cool shots. so i wanna know, when you make a video, in what order do you film? like b roll first, other shots and thennnn fishing or what? i just love the cinematic stuff and wanna know how you do it:) keep it up!!
If you ever have the chance to go to Crab Orchard Spillway outside of Carbondale IL, in Williamson County, it's a really nice spot! I do quite a bit of bowfishing and I ran into an older gentleman with a stringer full of channel fiddlers, long story short he wanted to trade me fish for fish for the silvers we had gotten that evening. he asked what we did with them and we said we take some photos and then sink them and he said if you cube them up and Can them in a pressure cooker it's the best eating you'll have.

No matter what happens, I truly enjoy watching you fish. Thanks for keeping a smile on our faces.
Even though you were disappointed, my two year old loved watching you catch another big fishy.
When I saw him reeling in that pole between his legs I couldn't help but bust out laughing

You eliminated THOUSANDS of future asian carp, so...I say win.
They aren’t a invasive species anymore they are a naturalized species now

A) They aren't naturalized
