I saw a guy baton with the opined unlocked. Seem to work ok without damaging the knife. I would only do it in a pinch but nice to know it’s possible. Thanks for the review👍👍

Nice ! You could use it in a pinch for batoning (spll?) carefully to only start the split as you had just there and then insert into your split a pre-carved wedge to baton which of course then frees up your Opinel . Finish the baton work with your wooden wedge . I think you're right it could damage the knife but perhaps only carefully in a pinch one could do alright . Super cool knife from Opinel ! Very nice !
I cut all the gimmicky shit off so its a normal opinel now also removed like 1.5cm of the handle where it would store all that heavyness. Now its legit the perfect opinel!
Inox pronounced eenox is short for stainless. The full word is inoxidable. It's fine to start a fire and to use as a good pocket knife but it isn't long enough nor thick enough for batoning. That's not at all what it's made for.
Good but overpriced standard 12 is far better stronger . Fiberglass handle is weaker than wood to support the blade pin . Is ,around double on price . Don't waste your money . Also blade is shorter why they call 12 ? 😂😂

Like a Swiss Army knife, you close it to a 45 degree angle, no lock, and gently batton away. You can get it done but it’s not ideal.
