youre so right that stud dogs are different, our one stud is a house dog that I adore more than anything and having a stud is very very different from any neutered male I've ever had! my girls for me are much more affectionate. our male is loving and needy but in a different way. haha. Definitely has an attitude at times! we also have 2 doberman, one male one female. the boys were bonded and then after our male bred for the first time the chaos started. its a learning process for sure. we have a great rotation going now. dobe will be neutered at 2 yrs so hopefully they'll love each other again once the "threat" is gone. thanks again for another awesome video! I learned a lot and really appreciated the part about pricing.

10% so basically if they have 10 puppies, the cost of one lol this is a very good informative video, in working dogs, were litter average is 6-7 often many more and prices of pups are lower, the general consensus is just one puppy value (without the puppies expenses) so if your pups are $1200 each, stud fee is $1200.

I have 2 male dog. 1 fixed American bulldog and my frenchie males is not. They live in the house with my unfixed female. I'm the alpha so when shebis in heat I act even more like an alpha and they aren't allowed to approach or sniff here. She is extra bonded to me and can sense my American bulldog is fixed. I also walk my frenchies daily together to build their bond. My American Bulldogs goes on walks with hubby. MY FEMALE IS ALSO ALPHA personality towards the males. The result is that my 2 males don't fight even when she is in heat. My American Bully is at the bottom of the pack and he knows it.

Hello, I have a 6 year old female Frenchie who we have never intended on breeding.
In her first two years or so, we were given what I know now as rather bad advice from our veterinarian at the time.
She had advised that we hold off on spaying her because she had been experiencing a bout of tummy aches here and there (Through a good amount of detective work, my husband and I eventually figured out had been due to food allergies.)
    Poor little thing!
(What I wouldn't give for a second go at choosing that first veterinarian... Lemme tell ya!)
Later on I am told by another vet that spaying a French Bulldog that is no longer a puppy would make the procedure more risky, also somewhat more difficult because they will have a lot more fat in that area/takes a bit more to locate the parts needed to locate.
Our little girl is the sunshine of our lives!
Hearing you mention the different things she could now be at risk for, due to remaining intact, really worries us!
Is there something we can do to help keep her healthy now, that you know of?
Would spaying her still be an option you personally would consider?
I'm aware that more risk is involved when it comes to putting Frenchies/Other brachycephalic breeds under anesthesia, and that certainly weighs on me as well...
Now, I'm fully aware you are not a veterinarian, however you seem to really know this breed well.
If you perhaps have any bits of advice, or anything at all you feel like mentioning, we would appreciate it sooo very much!
To us your opinion on the matter would be invaluable.
    Thank you!
& so sorry for practically writing you a novel here lol. Lots to say!
Hoping you have a great rest of your day,
    -Savannnah

I'm in the middle of adding to my breeding program (standard poodles). After watching this video a 2nd time you really made me think about whether a male or female would be best. Hey James, love your videos. I would encourage you to research about aggression caused by neutering because it is becoming a huge problem. Vets perpetuate the idea of neuter being better but it actually causes more problems than it solves!

      Ok will check it out

    • @marlenearevalo6744
      @marlenearevalo6744 4 года назад

The behavioral issues can arise when the neutering is done prior to the dogs physical and emotional maturation. Certain breeds like the Bulldogs for example are slower to mature so you’d want to hold off. Vets push it hard but they should never be castrated before 1 year of age at least.

Hey James! Thanks for educating us all! If you have a video that already answers this, I apologize. When you stud your males, what do breeders typically do? Does the female come to you, does the male go to them, do you meet at the vet and have vet do AI? Obviously you are very experienced and probably do AI yourself for your personal breedings, etc. but what is the "typical" situation for the stud owner when someone wants to use their stud? Thank you!

Also, in regards to this video- you did not discuss how having a sensational stud dog can be good over generations in regarding to storing semen and such. Females are limited on how many animals they can produce. Males not so much! Love your videos. Keep up the good work!

Neutering is wrong. It unearths an endless list of health problems. A dog shouldn't have to suffer for the owners convenience. If you can't handle a dog, don't have one. You shouldn't hack and mutilate your pet to fit your lifestyle.
