Kinda funny that Volkner trades Zapdos, because he canonically has one. In BDSP Battle Tower, nearly every one of Volkner’s possible teams includes Zapdos, it’s his most used Pokémon there, even more than his supposed aces Electivire and Luxray
It seemed to me like it might have been developed by someone who was disappointed by Sinnoh. I loved all the changes where they got rid of all the awful stuff from Sinnoh because there truly is a lot of awful stuff in that region
I think there's necessary context that a lot of people miss when dunking on this game. For one, it was made by a French-Canadian rom hacker, EricGall23, and so that's why a lot of the dialogue is silly or stilted; English is not his first language. I think more important, though, is how it was made. Fancy decomp hacks have somewhat diluted what people think is normal for rom hacks, but this game was made a long time ago with very rudimentary tools. This game (and his other hacks, Gold Unova and New Gold) are more or less just re-orderings of the original Gold. If you pay attention you can notice how basically every interaction in this game is transplanted somewhere from the original. I've seen people in the comments complain that there are no Sinnoh Pokemon or features, but of course there aren't! That's beyond this game's scope. Gold Sinnoh is a very simple hack that changes mostly dialogue and maps and then expects you to fill in the rest with your imagination. Gold Sinnoh is hardly a masterpiece (New Gold is), but I would say that it's actually pretty cool for an early binary hack of Gold and that Eric Gall clearly had a vision for it.
Damn with how many legendary pokemon running around the plot of this game should have been Team Rocket dug up the Mewtwo cloning tech and cloned a bunch of pokemon including legendaries
This game seems pretty fun. Dark Rising was much much worse and employs a brilliant trap. You lose the first boss battle with a pokemon you're confident in because you get a dragon in the early game but the boss you battle has like a lvl 40 pokemon so it's designed to be a wash. That part of the game motivates you to grind, no one believes it will get as bad as it actually turns out to be. Just thinking of the ai spamming full restores with lvl 99 legendaries is enough to make my skin crawl. To think some people tried to nuzlocke that game is beyond me.
I know why 5:36 creator couldnt port sprites from gen 4 for obvious reasons and had to settle with what they had. Probably the reason they chose to romhack gen 2, too... you dont have to work on sprites too much

Another terrible that i don't even know people like is Pokemon Light Platinum from GBA... Even without cheating this is the WORST that i played even WORST then my english... Serious! Many stupid glitchs about Elite Four, and there is a specific glitch that make IMPOSSIBLE to proceed to the Victory Road...
