By the time I was this kids age,I was building 350s,and 327s and doing Cars and pick ups,but I started on dirt bikes,I think every kid should do a few projects growing up.
I hate it when people say ''you could have bought a newer bike for the money you spent on it'' Every bike I bought needs money spending on it...I have just restored a 1998 KX250 and I have enjoyed every minute of it and I have learned lots about bike's and in future I will save money on repair bills now I have the experience to do it myself. Great job with the bike mate.
awsome rebuild man i give u a 10/10 i started rebuilding bike when i was twelve my first was a 94 cr 80 repainted everything rebuilt the whole motor, my dad realy taught me alot that summer now im able to rebuild a 86 kx 250 all by my self and im only 15. 2 stroke 4 life!!!!!!!!!
Niice work! I rebuilt my '01 KX250 from the frame up 2 years ago (flooded the bike in mucky water). The 98-02 are my favorite KXs; these are one of the most versatile MX bikes ever made.
Just bought a 99 KX250 and a 2002 KX125 both basket sort of. The 99 had a great new top bottom with reciepts, the 125 had no motor. both missing plastic. Spent $840 between both. combined some parts and ordered $250 worth of plastic/graphics/filter/misc. anyway, today finally putting together. Great story of yours and nice result.
ohh mann, i just rode my firends dads, 1999 kx250. that thing was a beast, every time i shifted the front end poped up. it had $900 oro circuit pipes, pro circuit suspension, and almost all of it want stock, these things run like 90mph. great bike
nice nice job, I am going to be doing a restore on a 87 yz125, but it's in no way the same consition as this bike....thanks for bringing her back to life!
It's good to see that some one takes as much time to ensure their ride is as perfect as it can be......just as I do, with any bike I buy. Nice job. You should be proud of yourself.
im a yamaha man, but i will give credit where it is due. you did a great job on this bike! its really looks great! have a great time on it 2STROKE FOREVER!
Nice work dude. I did the same with a 1999 cr 125 as a school project. It was piece of junk. Tore it down to the frame, regreased it and all bearings, powdercoat, cleaning. Put a new top end in it. Took it to the dunes and blew it up. lol. Now its a 134, just needs powervalves.
Kick Ass bro. I have a 00 kx 250 that has been sitting for about 5 years and i just started to put it back together Im going to ride it this year and next year im going to do the samethat you did. Stay with the kaw.
Nice video and very nice build. Looks like you took your time to do it right, which really is the best way to do it. I'm all KTM on dirt but my street bike is Kawasaki, they make a great product.
Sean Moore Nice job man!!! Please can you (or someone) tell me what type of paint have you used for the frame? (powdercoat?) And what you used to clean the rear swingarm ? Please I need to do this on y 1998 kx 125 (same frame)
awesome i love breathing new life into old stuff nice to see it get ridin the way it should be to o yah and KX250 is a rubber burner that just means you did you part right great job 5 stars
2 Stroke all the way.. EPIC video! I bet you felt great when you first rode her! I get my first KX 250 in 3 days and I cannot wait! Ride safe, ride forever :)
I used to have a 93 RM250 that did the same thing, it would spin the tire on dry pavement. Pretty scarey when you would get on it real hard and the front would lift and the ass end would kick out. Now I ride an 86 YZ490, I'm scared to ride it on pavement. I heard some horror stories about the street and 60+(mine is closer to 70)horsepower. It actually is harder for me to keep the front down in higher gears, because it actually hooks up instead of spinning. Nice vid.
nice job man! this is my same bike, i did similar work to a much lesser extent. i have mine rigged for trail riding, suspension mods, flywheel weight etc. shes a beaut!
nice job dude i just got a 98 kx 250 and did a shit load of work to it looks brand new with pro circuit pipes graphics seat cover, excel rims, kayaba forks kxs's rock you must feel so good about your self haha nice job
this is such an amazing job, i am so glad to watch that old bike come back to life it was clearly done right, better than i could have done it anyway :L
@Suzukidude222 Held up fine. Springs are flexed in torsion - i.e. the whole length of the rod that makes up the spring is deflecting angularly, giving the spring force. considering the length of a spring, the angle is really really small. simply - the spring doesn't move a ton so paint holds up
Dude I've watched your video for like 2 years now, every now and than, just because you have a 1999 KX 250 (2 stroke bastard) As do I, I've owned mine from brand new and have fixed anything that came up since I've owned it which isn't much! The 99 to 07 KX 250's will be in history books as far as 2 strokes/MX bikes go... so they are going down in history for being bad ass mother fuckers!!! and you are privileged to have one between your legs!!! awesome job on the rebuild, cheers to you brother!!
LOL! In case you were wondering I was joking about the powerbands/torque curves(as indicated by the winking smiley face), but you do have to love the durability of the kdx's... and why would put a pipe on my 220R? can't keep the throttle pined as it is in tight trails... plus the stock silencer is a "black hole for sound"... which is a good thing.
nice, i need to fix my bike up and get riding again. o and if anybody is thinking about gitting a dirtbike but not sure, GET ONE! The most fun you will ever have.
Nice. I going to buy a 1999 kx250 off of my brother for $800. It needs some work, its been raced hard, but I'll get it done. It will be completely worth it. ☺ 👍
It's kind of weird and funny to say that your bike has a twin. I JUST bought that graphics kit for my 99 KX250. The only thing I don't have is the swingarm decals (I have the stock ones yet) and my spring is the stock purple. Nice looking bike..it's like looking in a mirror. Cheers bro!
Just got my 00 kx 250 put put back together reNikasil the cylinder new wiseco piston. New hotrod rod. New fly handlebars. New rear black fender and sprocket. Sat for 6 years And started on 2 kicks. new pant job plans for next year new crank and some new plastics and all shock rebuilds. I will post my video of it. 2 stroke kaw's for live.. Say with the KAW...
50:1! Just don't put any oil in it then! Always 32:1 if you want it to last. I actually put 30:1 for my one bike (and ends up in my other bikes as well and its fine) because it has very big crank bearings.
you could get a lower seat foam and drop the forks in the triple claps a bit and maybe set the sag a little on the back shock, that would drop it a bit for you.
nice man the bike looks sick now all she needs now is a good pipe filter v force 3 reed cage and if u realy need more a 285 kit with port and polish :DDDD
Kawasaki's KX 250 Won the 250 shoot outs from 1997 through 1999. Personally i thought the 98 was the best of the three with its kick in the pants midrange and excellent top end. The one problem it did have. Had to replace rising link lower bearings monthly.
amazing video dude, i love it, i got my self a 97 kx 80 and i love it. but in a couple seasons ill get to that 250. i have a quick question tho for you or someone else who reads this and maybe can help me. everytime i finish riding now the front right fork leaks from the top , could that be the fork seal leaking because its needing replacement. i havent had time to take a look at it yet but would anyone off the top of there head take a good guess at that ?
yeah front forks you loosen and let the tripple trees drop down a little, back you loosen the spring or buy a linkage kit thats a few inchs shorter that will drop ride height.
Awesome..I just did the same thing to an '02 CR 250. Just finished it last week. Sweet vid. Makes me wish I did mine a little more thorough like you did. You race that thing in the ACRMX by chance?
spoking and truing are nightmares in school i would always get to the last spoke and it wouldn't fit and i'd have to take the entire wheel apart again. if you did it yourself nice job i'd have to send it out to someone.
@Rabidondi no its just that i just bought it and ive had to rebuild a bike before as you see ive had a klx 125 and just bought a 2002 ktm sx125 and it need needs a little TLC to make it look good and run good
omg wowowowowowowow. very nice i have done similar work on bikes in the past. This rebuild is very impressive. i would rather have that bike than a brand new 2007 kx250. oh and this is very important what is the first song in this video i fell in love with it i have to know
i wish i had a shop to do this then again are garage is like a garage we got all these tools my 80 looks tight full monster decal set but i need to poder coat cheeply any idea's?
By the time I was this kids age,I was building 350s,and 327s and doing Cars and pick ups,but I started on dirt bikes,I think every kid should do a few projects growing up.

I did the same with a 1980klx250... i finished it three days ago!! runs like at the first day..
these bikes are built to survive!!!!!!!
nice nice job, I am going to be doing a restore on a 87 yz125, but it's in no way the same consition as this bike....thanks for bringing her back to life!

nice to see that someone is willing to fix an old bike back to an excellent condtion
Great Job. Looks Incredible. I restored a TTR 90 and CRF 250 to mint. I know how much work goes into this. Awesome!!!!
Looks like the quick test ride without the fender the bike was saying thanks back to you! Awesome restore.. Congrats..
im a yamaha man, but i will give credit where it is due. you did a great job on this bike! its really looks great! have a great time on it 2STROKE FOREVER!

Sean Moore

It's kind of weird and funny to say that your bike has a twin. I JUST bought that graphics kit for my 99 KX250. The only thing I don't have is the swingarm decals (I have the stock ones yet) and my spring is the stock purple. Nice looking bike..it's like looking in a mirror. Cheers bro!

Kawasaki's KX 250 Won the 250 shoot outs from 1997 through 1999. Personally i thought the 98 was the best of the three with its kick in the pants midrange and excellent top end. The one problem it did have. Had to replace rising link lower bearings monthly.
your video inspired me with my kawasaki build. thank you for that!

sick bike. favorited video and thumbs up. also, what happened to the bike in the first place that crapped it up so bad?
Nice job! Great video...Awesome bike!
amazing video dude, i love it, i got my self a 97 kx 80 and i love it. but in a couple seasons ill get to that 250. i have a quick question tho for you or someone else who reads this and maybe can help me. everytime i finish riding now the front right fork leaks from the top , could that be the fork seal leaking because its needing replacement. i havent had time to take a look at it yet but would anyone off the top of there head take a good guess at that ?
yeah front forks you loosen and let the tripple trees drop down a little, back you loosen the spring or buy a linkage kit thats a few inchs shorter that will drop ride height.
I get such a happy sensation when successfully truing a wheel that's normal right?
Awesome..I just did the same thing to an '02 CR 250. Just finished it last week. Sweet vid. Makes me wish I did mine a little more thorough like you did. You race that thing in the ACRMX by chance?
Good shit.I want to buy something like this,but I don't know what to chose:kx or rm(both 250).
killer job I have an 2007 kx 250 an I love the bike !!
nice job i did this same project with a 95 model a few years ago and then 3 weeks later the gearbox shit itself
You must have to much time on your hands! brilliant job, looks like a new bike that has some sweat and blood behind it, good job :)
spoking and truing are nightmares in school i would always get to the last spoke and it wouldn't fit and i'd have to take the entire wheel apart again. if you did it yourself nice job i'd have to send it out to someone.
@Rabidondi no its just that i just bought it and ive had to rebuild a bike before as you see ive had a klx 125 and just bought a 2002 ktm sx125 and it need needs a little TLC to make it look good and run good
do you think we could see a video of the bike now???
omg wowowowowowowow. very nice i have done similar work on bikes in the past. This rebuild is very impressive. i would rather have that bike than a brand new 2007 kx250. oh and this is very important what is the first song in this video i fell in love with it i have to know
Looks great. Nothing better than bringing something back, that's pretty much lost. Excellent work, too. Love it.
i wish i had a shop to do this then again are garage is like a garage we got all these tools my 80 looks tight full monster decal set but i need to poder coat cheeply any idea's?
