The concept of censoring of older books and movies, be it for the noblest reasons i do not agree with it all.
When i was growing up (i am a bicentenial baby) it was the christian right wing extremists that wanted everything censored.
Now its the left extremist that want censoring.
Before in the 30's and 40's their was a certain bunch of ppl in Germany that wanted censoring, then in the 50 and 60's it was the commies that wanted censoring.
I hate politics. Hate talking about it. But like it or not America has a freedom of speech and freedom of press, and thank goodness we have it!
Yes ppl were sometimes ignorant on views and their thinking. But if we remove the bad parts, you lose a chance to speak and converse on why these things are not the norm.
We should talk and not just yell and ban. We should talk and think and move on.
Do i agree with the D.w.griffith views in his silent film about the rise of the Klan. No. But should we get rid of the film? No. Its a piece of history.
Same with hitlers speeches. It should be there to see as a warning and a reminder that all who forget history are doomed to repeat it.
Im sorry for my soapbox rant. It just breaks my heart the wanton destruction of history like films, books, statues, paintings and our beautiful American flag.
This is history! This is (like it or not) a part of our past as Americans.
We as the greatest country in the world can learn and move on and talk and then come together as freinds and understand the past is PAST us, but not PRESENT us.

Btw are you a fan of silent cinema? If you are there is a wonderful bbc documentary series that was made in the 80's on silent era. It is now available on you tube. I would love to hear your view on the docu series.
