The special effects by this time were pretty poor in the weekly series compared to the ones in the original mini series, as was the acting, music and storyline. Pity it went the way it did after such a fantastic start 😩
Jane Badler was amazing as DIANA in the miniseries and the series! She was a campy, vampy villain... ranked as one of TV Guide's top TV Villains of all time!
Pretty powerful series, specially i get still panic scenes from that, "face to face" scene, where Marc that actor, rip off that mask, but first that mask guy throw him to the wall and Marc spy him in the ventilation and mask actors eat animals.
It is that this scene is very well shot and music also accompanies to create suspense of what we are going to see really behind the human mask. From that time (before), I remember another film that gave me a lot of fear (even today): 'The Body Snatchers' year 1978, with Donald Suthernald.
It's interesting to see the glaring continuity error in the unmasking scene. The guy reaches for Jane Badler's face with his left hand and then unmasks the double with his right hand. Also, I suspect the mask wasn't supposed to stretch that much. Fortunately, it all looks OK when edited in the finished episode. (The Sanction).
Yuck! Those masks were very impressive back then and seemed so real. This is a great job from artists of the studio who had to work for weeks and weeks to create those masks..It creeped me back then as a teenager! Lol.
Hey, thanks for this! It's always fascinating to see how film makers do all those fancy and cool special effects! That clip where the lovely Jane Badler is being "strangled to death" is the episode entitled, "The Sanction" in which Elizabeth, who is now an adult woman after days previously resembling a ten-year-old, reunites with her mother Robin, who has not seen her since her metamorphosis, while that is going on, the top pupil at the visitor Youth Corps is Mike's missing son Sean. Standing in the way of his rescue are a fearsome alien and the boy's conflicted allegiance. This is the episode where Donovan faces-off with Klaus, the Visitor's top military soldier, equipped with a lighted whip that gives off sparks! Typical 80's cheese-fest, you gotta love it! ;) The original V was and still is awesome and while I did enjoy the rebooted version, it doesn't beat the original by any means. Kenneth Johnson had no involvement with V: The Final Battle or it's follow-up tv series, V: The Series because he had a disagreement with NBC in terms of which way the saga should go. However, in spite of Johnson's lack of involvement in both of them, the former was pretty good and the latter had its moments of glory, only to get dumbed down and treated its audiences like idiots, which led to its inevitable cancellation. And on top of that, it ended with a major cliffhanger that left us fans with a lot of frustration! LOL! I understand that Kenneth Johnson is currently working on a proposed reboot version of V himself in the form of a motion picture entitled, "V: The Movie", and according to him, it will honor the original mini-series while incorporating new themes, problems, and issues that plague us today in the 21st Century. The characters of Mike Donovan, Juliet Parrish, Diana, Willie, and Martin will be recast with new actors. If it does well at the box office, a sequel entitled, "V: The Second Generation" will follow, based on his book that takes place 20 years after the events of the original mini-series, featuring Marc Singer, Faye Grant, Jane Badler, Robert Englund, and Frank Ashmore portraying their iconic characters as their older incarnations from the first installment as they play a pivotal role with a new generation of heroes in the storyline. Since he holds the movie rights of V, it seems like a real possibility of getting made and in the vision he had originally conceived, with no assistance from NBC. Time will tell! Fingers crossed! Anyway, thanks for sharing, MikeDonovan23! I look forward to seeing more of your videos! You just earned a new subscriber! V for VICTORY!!!!! :)
The beggnning in the video is the soundtrack from the movie "Cat People" (in the movei there's also the "Putting out the fire" by David Bowie), great music BTW.
In the first chapters, human skin seemed better done. Wearing the human mask helped us to identify them better, besides, it is one thing to sow doubt and another to assume that everyone knows they are lizards.
@@VLosVisitantes ha nah that wasnt the reason the reason was that then the special effects were crap, no cgi to make the lizards face realistic, it was just cheaper and easier for them to just use the human actors faces ;well some effects were crap others were good for example when badler swallows the rat when they show her neck (not the dummy)it makes you wonder is she really human ?or a real reptilian haha her neck is weird ah also they never say wtf happened to the army navy and the other human forces or they did?
True, the effect of the neck when swallowing is better than the model with an open mouth. Even so with 6 years I had, did not judge the effects so much. In fact, at that time I do not think we judged the special effects so much. Yes now :)
@@VLosVisitantes yeah true man i dont remember the reason they gave for the total and complete lack of response from the human armed forces what happened to them? Also the aliens only had those pathetic small ships, why didnt they bring orbital bombers with super city erasing plasma guns or something like that ,but the series were fun to watch better than many crap from today ,hey dont you think jane badler neck looked weird?i mean her real neck i wonder if shes human or maybe a real reptilian haha
I was wanted to have the 🦎 lizard eerie voice. I seen how Mike Donovan talk just like a Visitor officer and knock the guy out. Then he threw a black necklace onto the floor which gave him the Visitor voice.
+Brian Tristam Williams They really makes a review of the 3 seasons. I don´t know because they just put 'V The Final Battle', but I wanted to be true to the original title.

Hate the scene where the very first lizard on the mothership Donovan rips the mask off has crooked eyes. Massive oversight in the makeup department....
The special effects 40 years ago was still impressive but nothing compared to today. Especially when you have an actor pretending to be our idiot POTUS for the last two years who showed up in 2019. He's not the only one that's been replaced either. I grew up in the 80's when Madonna first became famous but she was replaced with a double in early 2020. Seriously look at the woman pretending to be Madonna now. C'mon Man!
Brilliant. Watchin V in 2020, it's a nostalgic venture, a reminder of growing up in a great era.
Best sci-fi show I've ever watched
As a child i did enjoy V the original mini-series but later discovered Star Trek TNG. Now that was brilliant SciFi
That mini series was awesome
The special effects by this time were pretty poor in the weekly series compared to the ones in the original mini series, as was the acting, music and storyline. Pity it went the way it did after such a fantastic start 😩
budget was half the original miniseries and final battle
Jane Badler was amazing as DIANA in the miniseries and the series! She was a campy, vampy villain... ranked as one of TV Guide's top TV Villains of all time!
Campy and vampy is the perfect way to describe her!

MikeDonovan23 yeah. I noticed that too, this video wake up my trauma, oh shit.
MikeDonovan23 yeah. That movie is great, i am seen that in back then.
LOL Notice the Battlestar Galactica 1978 Soundtrack playing in the background from about 2:00 minutes till the end.

Heroine Addict I wish my dvd sets ha this as bonus features
+mrfrogbutt1 me too.
+Heroine Addict At that time we were not so strict with special effects and yet I prefer these to current computer.
Heroine Addict

it sure as hell did creep me too! and i was only a first grader.

Scene is actually from V: the Series, episode 5, The Sanction.
It was the most powerful sci fi tv show of all time !
The beggnning in the video is the soundtrack from the movie "Cat People" (in the movei there's also the "Putting out the fire" by David Bowie), great music BTW.
Dthe Vyda Crystal Yes true I have the 1982 Cat People Bluray & CD soundtrack.
Great affects make up
Cool illusion Fx ideas :)
Les Mangas ossi surtout ceux de maintenant.. Tous les effets spéciaux sont géniaux ALIENS.. 🇨🇵👾👽
That was the series weak point the lizards mask looked so unrealistic and why the lizards kept using human masks if everybody knew they were lizards
In the first chapters, human skin seemed better done. Wearing the human mask helped us to identify them better, besides, it is one thing to sow doubt and another to assume that everyone knows they are lizards.

But that will be fictional :)

That's not The Final Battle - it's the series.
+Brian Tristam Williams Certainly. I put the same title of the original video (now deleted).
+MikeDonovan23 Love your handle, Mr. Donovan!
+Brian Tristam Williams They really makes a review of the 3 seasons. I don´t know because they just put 'V The Final Battle', but I wanted to be true to the original title.
To be fair, they’re showing John with his face being torn (Final Battle) then Diana in the series...then Donovan in original series
Works the opposite way too
Classic,,
that mask scares me shit out i was young.
Me too :D
MikeDonovan23 still make trauma for me, i get panic scenes sometimes.
Why the Battlestar Galactica music? I wondered that in '83 and i wonder today. Ha! I remember watching this because the show scared me so much
+SJHFoto There was no Battlestar Galactica music in the '83 V. What they put in this 1985 documentary, that's another story.
The beggnning in the video is the soundtrack from the movie "Cat People" (in the movei there's also the "Putting out the fire" by David Bowie), great music BTW.
everyone knows they didn't spend any money on effects...because it was all real!
Lol :O :D
Hate the scene where the very first lizard on the mothership Donovan rips the mask off has crooked eyes. Massive oversight in the makeup department....
3000 to 5000 1983 US Dollars??? Come on!! That's just a lie.
to be ripped for good in a few seconds...
