The TI is a great choice for the EC. It’s not the fastest boat in the fleet and doesn’t point as well as some but it goes well when the wind blows and it goes well when it doesn’t. It’s simple, stable and can take quite a bit of punishment. It’s light enough to shove off the beach and to portage at Flamingo. I haven’t counted but I suspect that more Hobie AI/TI have finished the EC than any other hull.
@@spayment Thank you for the reply. I ordered one and it will be here in Oct/Nov. All the dealers near me are backordered but I went ahead and pulled the trigger even though I have not seen one in person. It seems that they are fun. I guess I was looking for someone to ease my buyers remorse.
We took an easterly route though Tin Can Channel, Dump Keys, etc. East winds and low tides would have probably prohibited our route with an 18” draft this year. Deeper draft boats tend to leave Flamingo and head south toward the Keys before proceeding up the intracoastal to Key Largo.
I have yet to watch this but see that you have a tribute to my father. Thank you for that.
A great adventure, really jealous, RIP Sailorman!
Wonderful trip. So glad y’all had fine weather and fair conditions. Nicely done.
Well done. Enjoyed the video.
Good job you guys! Professional TI men!
Little boats = big adventures.
Great adventure!
Is the Hobie TI good boat pick for the EC or would you choose different next time?

Very very goog. From Argentinian
You sound like the guy who has the 22 Catalina and dry Tortuga taking 24 hrs
Hats off to you gents!
What route did you take through Florida bay..is it doable with 18 inch draft?

Good to know. I will be working out routes and planning. Sailing of course..if we can
Please tell me that Mr. Moon is a "Yellowbeard" reference...
I think it’s a reference to a book that he used to read his kids when they were little. ❤️
What happened at 2:53?
Hobie TI flooded out due to pounding through heavy seas requiring Coast Guard rescue.
What happened to sailor man? Did I miss something?
