Shirley Bassey is unique as is he unique way of vocal phrasing.
Shirley always does it 'her way' lol She never just sings a song she lives it. the emotion and the drama is for her 'real'.... Loved her for ages. Encore, encore lol
The best ever version of My Way is Shirley Bassey's version in her 1987 Berlin concert.
"My Way" is a song popularized in 1969 by Frank Sinatra set to the music of the French song "Comme d'habitude" composed by Jacques Revaux with lyrics by Gilles Thibaut and Claude François and first performed in 1967 by Claude François. Its English lyrics were written by Paul Anka and are unrelated to the original French song. Peace out.
Please react to Shirley Bassey's performance of How Do You Keep the Music Playing! It is one of her best performances! The video where she is in the black and white dress with a bluish background.
I can do that 😉👍
Her 1987 version of this song live in Berlin, is far and away her best version
So glad she always does it her way. ♥ Thank you Roskoe ☺
You're welcome, Ada!
Original song is from French singer Claude Francois, Paul Anka translated it to English for Sinatra. Miss Bassey's version is fantastic as always!!
Thank you for reacting to my request.
Always wished Barbra did her own version of the song. Very surprised she never sung it.
I'm not sure you like her (never saw you reacting to her) but Céline Dion sang it once (audio only). I highly recommend it !
I have reacted to Celine a couple of times but not as often because my shows with her were getting blocked..but I do have a playlist for her.
So glad to see others requesting this amazing woman... as you know, Roskoe, Shirley for me is second only to Barbra. She certainly has a way of reinventing a song making them all "her way" indeed. And I love how you do your reactions "your way!"👌
Many many people have recorded this song, but the two most famous versions are Frank's, who Paul Anka wrote these lyrics for, and Elvis; actually the lyrics are just as lamenting of Elvis' life as they were Frank's. Def would recommend you reacting to Elvis' version. At first I was going to suggest the one from his 1973 concert in Hawaii, a much trimmer somewhat younger Elvis, but then I thought, no, the version that fits the lyric more and that Elvis sang with a deeper sense of purpose and resolution...is the one from a 1977 concert, just months before his death. It shows a more out-of-shape, older Elvis, even if only by 4 years, singing this song as if knowing "the end is near." Roskoe, it's the one that's 3:49, Elvis Live HD 1977. 🤗
I'll check out Elvis & his version of this. Thank you for your beautiful words & background info! 😉💖💖💖
@youmaderoskoe You bet, my friend...I believe there are times when the history of a song brings more meaning and/or poignancy to it. ❤️
For me, Shirley is way way better than Barbra.

I'm not crazy about the flow of this song. I guess I'm just too used to the way Frank Sinatra sings it. 😁
