Thanks! I cover a little bit of how I have things set up in this video. Feel free to check it out! ruclips.net/video/hEh0Yxypuw8/видео.html&ab_channel=SamWittek
I was hoping you’d make presets available once I saw you move to the timeline from the el cap. How are you moving between presets/how do you have the timeline set up? You have 3 go to tape options (small, medium, large) but the timeline only has 2 preset buttons. Are you banking over? Thanks!
Yeah good question! I find that actually having the 2 preset buttons is plenty for me. Since I pretty much exclusively get scheduled for lead at my church, I most commonly use the medium and high Tape option on one bank, or the medium and a "fun" reverb (ice, reverse, or trem). The majority of the time, the medium tape setting is home base for me and covers most territory I'd need on a sunday morning. For the rare occasions though when there's a song that switches between dotted 8th and 8th, or I need a more unique option then I'll bank over. Hope that helps!
Awesome sounds. I’ve only just purchased a timeline so I’m wondering is there instructions with the download on how to load these presets onto the pedal? Thanks in advance!
Thanks! I don't currently have a pdf with download instructions (although its something I'm currently working on). It's pretty straightforward though. You'll just want to connect your TimeLine to your computer with a MIDI>USB cable like this one: amzn.to/49Hycsc. From there you'll just need to download the free Nixie app from Strymon's website and you can drag and drop the presets into your TimeLine from there. If you don't have that cable, I also provide screenshots of every preset so you could also manually dial them in if you'd prefer
@@SamWittek this is great! Thank you so much. Will look into getting one of those cables and then I'll download those cool presets. Really enjoying your vids. Keep up the good work my friend. God bless :)
I haven't tried out the MX yet but from what I hear the presets are more or less the same. I hope to make some MX specific patches at some point in the near future!
So glad you're digging the bigsky presets! 🙏🏻 These presets were designed with stereo in mind but would work just fine in mono. You might need to play with the mix and/or modulation if you find them too overpowering in mono, but besides that they'll work just fine!
Hi So you and i have some same pedals. I am going to have to ditch amps. I noticed you have two iridiums and a preamp. Dy have a video discussing that setup by any chance?
Yeah good question! I do have a video on the channel diving into the 2 iridium setup as opposed to one single iridium. For the preamp, I'm more just using that more as an overdrive at the moment
@@SamWittek hey thanks for Your reaponse. I recently started a new church. The church has a bad cat micd. Id like to sound stereo though. Without breakin the bank, in your experience, what wuld you use as amp simp to achieve stereo: bad cat with what amp simp, thats not that expensive. I was also contemplating using my fishman loudbox next to the bad cat and hopefully i could be successful for stereo sound. Any thoughts?
Hey Sam I love your tone! I'm manually inputting your settings through the screenshots. For your CHILL and REWIND preset, what tap division did you use?
Thanks so much! 🙏🏻 I have CHILL set to a dotted 8th and REWIND set to an 8th, but honestly I find myself switching them up sometimes depending on what I'm going for!
Thanks Sam. I use the Timeline as well. Mostly the dotted 8 subdivision. It’s the best sounding pedal I’ve heard, but it can be intimidating. It does way more than what I use it for. I’m still exploring all the sounds. Question: What do you use for 6/8 timed songs?
It can definitely be overwhelming! That's why I wanted to share my workflow so hopefully it can make the TimeLine a bit more approachable. For 6/8 songs it depends, I still find myself using dotted 8th quite often but I probably dip into the 8th subdivisions more often for 6/8 songs compared to 4/4 songs
I used my TimeLine for the first time in church today and based my presets of this. I played for about two second for my sound check and my worship leader said, “wow your tone is amazing.” Thank you!
Yeah good question! I try not to run the amps too dirty so I have some clean headroom if I want to keep my effects cleaner. And then I have the option to hit some overdrive pedals if I want to go for something dirtier. Hope that helps!
As the Timeline is still one of the most used and desired delay pedals, which pedal on the market do you think comes closest to the Valhalla Delay plugin?
Man good question, I'm not familiar enough with all the ins and outs of the Valhalla Delay plugin to really know what's comparable as far as pedals go. The TimeLine is definitely very comprehensive though as far as the range of tones you can dial in
Man it really depends, are you looking for a lower budget mini pedal? Can't go wrong with the small Boss delay pedals, even the newer JHS 3 series delay and Walrus fundamental delay pedals are solid for pretty cheap. If you're looking for a really robust stereo delay in a small footprint, the Jet Pedals Eternity is packed full of options
Hi Sam! I play at church as well, im really having trouble over choosing between el capistan or time line. I like the different sounds and delay types of the timeline. But i love the actual delay tones of the el capistan 😭 so tough
Haha it’s a tough decision for sure! The el cap is just such a staple great delay sound. The timeline can still do it really well but does unlock a lot more options if you’re looking for some more versatility. Can’t go wrong with either though!
@@SamWittek broo, i gotta say they are amazing. I love em. My favorite part is that they feel very organized, minimalistic but efficient and effective! Cant wait to set em up with the mc6 pro!

Stupid question. Purchasing your presets: is it just a key that shows you how to dial in those exact sounds and parameters? Or is something that you can just install onto the timeline somehow through midi or something?
Not a stupid question at all! Yeah so you can connect your Strymon device to your computer with a MIDI > USB cable, and then you can drop the download files right into your Strymon device using Strymon's free editor called Nixie. I also include screenshots for every preset though, so some people prefer to just dial them in manually by going off those screenshots. Either way works!
I was on the verge of buying a Strymon Timeline, and then I stumbled across the Hologram Microcosm. Which is best? Can anyone advise? They appear to do a similar type of thing. 🤔
Can't go wrong with either! I haven't personally tried the Microcosm, but from my impression it seems to have much more experimental/ambient texture tones compared to the TimeLine, which does have some of that, but mainly has more straightforward delay tones
Hey I have a question brother! I plan on getting this but what I’m at a lost for is: when I tweak the knob for time, how will I know, (oh this is 1/4 this is 1/2 this is the dotted 8th and etc) I wanna dial in for accuracy, hope this makes sense! Cheers!🎉
Yeah absolutely! So you can set the subdivision (dotted 8th, 8th, etc) separately, and that subdivision will remain the same no matter where you have the time knob twisted to. It's much much easier though to use the tap tempo to tap in your desired bpm, and then it'll be really clear which subdivision you're on. Hope that answers your question!
Do you ever get pops when you use the footswitch on the bigsky? I just got mine last week and I noticed this happens a lot. Especially when I go from a dry tone and then turning on the reverb. It's making recording for me pretty much impossible. Sometimes if I have a delay going as well the pop will start taking on the effect. ugh.
