For sure! Just got a Daiwa Alphas and paired it with my Cashion kayak cranking rod until the Megabass Hyuga I have on order arrives. The Alphas is as smooth as butter! The setup will probably become my go-to for drop shot. Never throwing a spinning rod again...lol
Yes, love it, my personal setup is the Shimano Calcutta Conquest BFS pair up with the Shimano Cardiff Native Special 54UL rod I mainly used for stream fishing for trout and panfish
Thanks for the review I have my Zephyr on a 20 year old shimano rod that is too soft thanks for the info. I also have the Defy silver in 6’6” keep up the great work I watch them all
that is my setup, enjoy it a lot. I would like to try a better brand BFS and see the difference. I use straight mono, the braid kept breaking on me on my bfs
Check out the chatterbait flashback mini if you get some bend the loops close more and good to go, also stop whipping it out there this is not bass rods and reels toss it out there with finesse
How well do you think this combo would handle a 1/32 ounce jighead? Obviously it would probably be closer to 1/16 with the plastic on the jighead and I want to use 4lb test line.
I got the zephyr to try out BFS. It’s definitely better than I expected but I have to re line it everyday because the line keeps jumping the spool and getting stuck inside the reel. Did yours do that with the mono?
I bought one of those cheap Ozark trail bait casting combos from Walmart and the reel did that exact thing. The line would go between the spool and the body of the reel. I've never had that happen ever and I've owned a ton of bait casters
I use 8 pound spiderwire braid on my zephyr no issues with the line getting stuck on the spool, ever. Running it on a 4"6 ugly stick and 6"0 ugly as well . I'm throwing a weightless wacky
I had the same thing happen with my GH100. I added some clear nail polish to the reel frame to fill it in. It's easy to do if you slowly add it coat by coat and is removeable with acetone if you have issues.
Have you tried a BFS setup yet?
Yeah, i got the 7’4 Dobyns Ultra Finese Casting Rod and the Curado BFS. Match made in heaven for ned rigs.

BFS is what the best ultralight gear would be, if no one had invented the spinning reel.
I disagree, it definitely has it's on place. I prefer casting small cranks, chatters, spinners, etc on BFS over spinning.

So glad I found this video, I’m in the thought process of getting this setup
I laughed out loud at the Chatter do doo doo singing 🤣 and the whole lake heard me....🤪🤪
Hahaha 🤣
I got zephyr and curado bfs. The curado is definitely better in all ways. But that the difference between budget and mid range
I think you owe Clayton Schick a royalty for the “ain’t no use” reference.
You're right about coppertruce! Best color! Drew's Craw is my #2
Just a small tip,, bend tour hooks up just a little bit on those smaller lures. It has helped my hook up rate a lot
Thanks for this video! What length of leader line did you go with?
4-6 ft
Cool - Thanks @@aaanglers

Awesome stuff bro! I need to get one of these setups.
Jeff, you mentioned the curado would be a better finesse casting reel, which one in particular?
Curado BFS
I got the shimano adlebaran 22 and the kastking zephyr 6ft casting rod.
??? Would you recommend this reel for Rapala and eurotackle 1/8 hardbaits?? I have quite a few and want to ultralight bfs
for sure!
Do you have a link where to get the Shimano Sensilite Rod? Amazon is sold out. :(
Check out tackledirect, that's where I got mine!
Fishusa or dicks sporting goods

It can do it for sure. I fish Mule donkey tails jrs on this. I prefer spinning though
Will we be seeing a Curado BFS in your future? After watching this video, I think there may be a good chance of it.
For sure!
Did you say adjust in the drag was helping with the overruns maybe that’s the secret to tune in these reels?
Not sure, def dialed the mag breaks to 11 lol
What brand braid are you using?
Power pro
What knot are you using to connect the leader? Also how long of a leader.
The albright knot, 6-10 ft
love that dink at the end.... Team Dink
I hope the line doesn't get eaten by the spool. That's why I need a new one...I'm hoping this one is better!
Nice video! Been a few months. Have you dialed in your bfs set up and more?
No changes yet, but I have a new reel coming
Not bad day bass perch and bluegill
So fun!

Mine did with mono. Switched to 4 lb braid and no issues so far
finally a page that catches big's 😁
Tanks only
It's a light, not an ultralight? Definitely going to look into it.
Where you guys out of? Alpena here.
Near Ann Arbor
Where is your PA???
At the shop still sadly
@@aaanglers I missed that. What happened dude?
Broke a spring in the clutch, so it didn’t turn… hopefully back this week
I'd like to see a bfs reel on a googan twitch rod
o
