The look Tom Hanks hits Denzel with after causing him to reveal his pain is fire. He knows Denzel only did it to win the case and not to shame him. Two great actors working.
true...but even Mary Steenburgen was fantastic in this role
Immorality does not pay straight or pay
So crazy that Denzel wasn’t even nominated for an Oscar for this.
I remember in 1985 we didn't know how Aids was spread. It was frightening. How we treated people with Aids in this movie was accurate 😔
I saw a post on FB recently asking if there was ever a movie that "made you cry".
As soon as I read it I thought of the day I saw this movie at the theater and practically everybody weeping trying to hold back their tears so others wouldn't notice but it was too late. Myself included btw.
Watching this scene today, that's 30 yrs later, I had to hold back cause I got the same sensation I got back then, a lump on my throat.
Great acting and a great profound movie. 👏👏👏
OK do not hate me but the easy de
Easysex did him no good
Which new generation actors are of this caliber? Tom Hanks and Denzel Washington , what a cast
None...
Austin Butler
None
sadly his just a demo puppet, pro biden-obama
Absolutely NONE! With the exception of Leonardo DiCaprio , he is the only actor that can convince and puts his entire being into a role. But, Denzel and Tom are still on a completely different level- a level we will never experience again. The word “celebrity” or “ star” is now put on anyone and any show- very sad.
6:27 The pain on the sister's face
His poor mother 😢❤
Avevo dimenticato quanto Tom Hanks sia stato bravo in questo film
One of the best scenes of all the time....
"He asked for it"
I like how they deliberately made it ambiguous if he was talking about contraxting HIV by being gay or about showing his lesions because he sued.
Its a movie are you gonna sue them?
Like you guys are just dumv asf its a old movie watch it ot leave
@@basicsuccess9549 I know this is a new concept for you, but some people analyze and critique movies like some people do with books.
Its called film crticism, its as old as film. Chillax
@@CodaMission my frind go analyze ur life critique that stop crying because of a mocie start crying because of ur situation
@@basicsuccess9549 No. I'll critique what I like, thanks. I like this movie. Why do you think I'm saying something negative anyway? I'm commenting on directorial choices. Even if I was complaining, why do feel the need to chime in? And how am I expected to concentrate on anything you say when your spelling and grammar makes you almost unintelligible?
I watched the original movie, almost as soon as it was released! I still can’t stand to see the disgusting way this man was treated.
Tom & Denzel Super ⭐
Im ready to watch the whole movie now.
❤i wish noone had to suffer from this type of pain❤ or stigma attached to it❤
6:28 the two lawyers understood that they could no longer do anything, the evidence was too great.
Man, I don’t think I’ve ever wept more for a scene in a film than I did the first time I saw this, maybe Awakenings with Robert Deniro. But it’s close.
Best movie ever
"I hate this case" was that disgust for herself or the witness?
its not real
@@mikejames1804 You're a troll, we can see your comments

denzals slug should hav got the oscar
Not gonna lie I was watching this I left it because I had to and came back to it so I could finish it.
Is that what lesions look like as I've never thought they looked bad?
Bigger still, my nephew has HIV and when he wasn't taking his antiviral meds he had similar lesions but bigger, same color
6:21 it is so obvious why the defendants are holding down their heads. They knew they lost the case right then and there.
I never took it that way. All but one of them looks down or covers their eyes. The one who didn’t is the one who regrets what they did. And the main one mentions biblical reasons for his conduct. I always took it as a kind of disgust and judgment, this is the biggest indicator of why they didn’t like him, and the only one willing to look was the one who had any sympathy and regret.
@@AWESOMENISH that's a very valid interpretation as well. It's tragic how they utilized bigotry, homophobia and discrininatory stereotypies about AIDS to hate on a perfectly capable legal eagle.
I've worked with many lawyers myself and luckily not one in my view mistreated Andy Beckett with the level of contempt these insecure, egotistical, cowardly attorneys did. If anything, that behavior would yield terminations, especially as the legal field relies upon team work. Clearly, they had an excellent professional in Andy if they extended him opportunities which only go towards the most gifted of robust legal thinkers. They permitted antiquated social conservatism to impede upon sound judgment for clients & overarching law firm operations.
Philadelphia is such a trailblazing film. I never hesitate to give it a watch. It's actually my favorite legal movie.
5:30- Second valid argument that Joe could've made was the defense brought the subject of Andrew lesions into questioning and attempted to get hin to ahow where there located on his body first. They can't bring a subject up its conveneint for them and dismiss it if it turns out to ruin their case.
Mary Steenbrugen is also a gratis actrice.
If cancer had had an Act Up movement, would there have been a breakthrough effective treatment years ago?
I was expecting something that looked alot worse than what they gave us.
Mary Steenbergen is evil in this.
she just plays evil. And even in her role she just do her job.
yes but only in this movie, shes actually really nice
Then she did her job
Please what is K S ?
Kaposi Sarcoma.
Kaposi Sarcoma. It is a type of skin cancer that mostly affects AIDS patients.
Poor Andy is very sick 👎
Fatto!!!!

Mary was the villain in this not Jason . At least that’s my opinion
