    If I were Susan, I would’ve given the roommates eviction papers as soon as I’d realize they weren’t interested in cleaning after their dogs. I also wouldn’t rule out calling animal control

    • @julievanderleest
      @julievanderleest Год назад +93

      Unfortunately it’s not that simple. The tenants often have more legal rights than the homeowners or landlords. It sounds like Susan isn’t the landlord of the house either.
      There was a story about a woman who was a nanny in a home in California who had taken total advantage of the family and she stopped working for them as a nanny but the homeowners were not lawfully allowed to evict her.

    • @FIRING_BLIND
      @FIRING_BLIND Год назад +82

      @@julievanderleest that isn't true. Landlords have way more power over tenants. That case in Cali is 1. Likely an outlier and 2. Likely a result of a specific contract they signed with the former nanny

      @@FIRING_BLIND , yes, if someone is so unsanitary that the rented property gets damaged or destroyed, it should be possible to evict that person. The owners of the house should have been very interested in stopping these shenanigans!
      We don't know what kind of contracts the three dog owning girls had. I figured that Susan sublet the rooms, and in this case it should have been easy to get rid of the other girls. But it's possible that Susan could not afford to evict all of them at the same time, since she probably needed the money, and it might have been difficult to find three new tenants quickly.
      Susan came across as very embittered, and I didn't have the impression that there was a deep friendship at stake. It was probably not a good idea to take in so many dog owners, since it's not that easy to get so many dogs used to each other.

      Fr!? I had 2 of my friends over for a week during easter, and while they were on a break, I had uni every day. One day I was groaning about having to do the dishes, and clean the sink counter when I come home, and my friend offered to do it for me, but then my other friend (a man) insisted he'd do it, so we were like 'yea okay, thank you :)'
      When I came back he had done the dishes, but he hadn't cleaned the counter, which was covered in grease and other stuff, from *his cooking*.
      I asked him why he didn't clean it, and he said that I didn't tell him to do it, so he didn't, and I'm like I did tough? The counter must be cleaned, it's part of doing the dishes. And he started arguing that it's a completely separate task and I should just be happy that he (half assed it) did the dishes. Then he started complaining that I'm blaming only him, and I should be blaming my other friend too, because she did nothing (this man has just turned 30).
      She offered to do the dishes and clean the counter first, but you insisted on doing it, why would I blame someone else when it wasn't their responsibility? You insisted on doing a task, half assed it and in the end I had to clean up anyway after a 8h uni day, while you watch tv and scratch your belly after a day of doing nothing but the dishes ._.

      I'd like to second this statement on why landlords don't want to rent out to ppl with pets
      About eight months ago the apartment building in which I live in was bought (six units be exact) I have two cats and a small dog
      He said I was able to stay as a tenant but I needed to move out until he demolished
      But as he started working on the unit next to me he soon changed his mind
      The last owner had 12 cats that she would rescue strays that came into our backyard
      The house was infested with fleas cockroaches and smelled of urine
      So because of this though I don't keep my house like this
      He says he needs to put in place no pets rule for the new tenants and obviously allowing me to have my pets
      Everyone else would also want to be able to have pets
      In conclusion I'm being forced to move out because I don't want to give up my pets
      Totally understandable!!!!!!!!
      But so sad 😭😭😭😭

If anytime they do something to help fix the problem you go “I’ll believe it when I see it” that just makes the others not want to earn your trust. It’s like training dogs in a way. If you have a dog that misbehaves, you praise them and give them treats when they get things right even if it’s just the dog sitting. If you wait to give treats for when they’ve mastered the trick, they’re never gunna get it. Same thing goes with building and rebuilding relationships with people. Patience is key

    Victoria is wise to make them wait at corners (all corners) because it's important to remember an excited dog must not move forward. It's the dog's responsibility to keep the leash relaxed when walking (unless during a greeting when passing on the street). Teaching the wait at the corner is the first step, in the process and the dogs all got it in seconds. Which tells us they want to be good dogs and all the excitement and out of control behaviours are human caused and not the dog's fault at all. Yay Victoria!

    That's why I refuse to allow people to have pets in my house UNLESS they are 100% potty trained PERIOD
    Can't stand any animal that hasn't been potty trained being in the house.

      potty training doesn't help, when you don't take the time for a walk

      @@flauschekotze Dogs need walks for exercise, but they can certainly be trained to use a litter box when indoors. If a cat (less known for being good students) can learn, a dog can too.

      My youngest dog has a pee pen that she goes in all by herself in between their scheduled potty times. I have 3 dogs and the 2 older ones don't need to go as often so this has been really helpful. @TeethInTheDarkness

    That Victoria had to get an expert in to tell those two women how bad it is to have week-old dog feces and vomit all over the house *shake head*. I'm low-key impressed she found someone willing to go "Poo bad, mkay", essentially.

    Trying to gaslight Susan into trusting the roommates is so whack to me. How many years did she live with their messes and that filth and the side eyes for just wanting her home clean?? YES, it takes more than one week to build back trust.
