Ultimate Superman Action Comics Cover Art Tribute

- 1000 front covers of DC Comics historic Action Comics right from 1938 all the way down to the present in 2018. Every single issue has at least one hi-rez image if it's cover represented in this video. Multiple variants have been shown for issue 1000 but only one cover to represent all of the rest. From historic Action Comics issue number 1 all the way to the milestone issue 1000 for Superman's 80th birthday.

You know, watching this makes me want an animated movie based on the early years of Action Comics(the ones featuring the Man of Steel) and have it as a 'the adventure begins' kind of story where he initially doesn't have the ability to fly at first until he starts to gain it and have the black shield logo on him throughout the film before switching to the iconic red shield at the end. Just something that came to mind watching this.
Great stuff! It's interesting to see the shield evolve in those early days; a yellow border vs a red one; different shapes...
Also on those early covers Supes isn't even guaranteed! It's easy to forget it was an anthology at the start.
Exactly! I'm pretty sure they were like "woe, Steve! Would ya lookit dis here...every time Superman is on the cover and in the mag it does 3 times the sales!" Most of the Action Comics 1 reprints omit the other stories but the Loot Crate one is a complete faithful reproduction from cover to cover. If you don't have it you should find it. Best Loot Crate exclusive ever.
A cover for Action Comics 976 is missing. Did a double take cause something seemed off. Went back a little and discovered that. Amazing video! Such classic cover art throughout the various ages!

My retailer has ordered me the poster will 1000 covers on it but I just have to ask myself why didn't DC turn all of those variant covers into posters? They would have sold like pints of beer at October fest! 🍺🍻🍺
