Here in Wales, my mother started a high quality fashion business during the early 60's, and she had customers travelling for miles to visit her shop. She also organised local fashion shows where my sister and sister in law used to model along with other models. I often used to go with her on the train to Manchester to visit the Fashion houses to buy her stock. She was always competing against M&S. People need to start learning how to dress smartly again.....it's good for you.

Funny to think that as a child I grew up with flower patterns like your dress. As curtains, as bedspreads, as cushion covers and as my mother's dresses - many of which she made herself being a dab hand with the paper patterns packs and her Singer sewing machine. By the 80s these designs were getting very dated and so much was thrown out - but occasionally I see them in charity shops and remember how pretty they were. It's nice to see people like yourself rediscover and preserve the look.

Goodwood Revival is a great event - and one I must revisit at some point. I love vintage clothes, and always try to dress well, and because I also love classic cars, the event is perfect for me! You are so right about the amount of clothes that always exist. Also, vintage clothes and shoes are always, always better made than modern stuff!

I usually dress 40s or 50s for the revival but this year I'm making my own dress featuring genuine 60s fabric, an early 60s singer sewing machine and a late 60s pattern

This brings the memories flooding back of my mother and other female relatives, and the clothes they wore. Some of them were big ladies who would make 5 foot 3 inch Steph look sylph like in comparison. My mother always reackoned I had a good eye for colour and I would often find myself being dragged off on some shopping expedition to buy fabrics and furnishings for the house when she couldn't make up her mind. The same eye is telling me that the first dress option is preferable to the second, the darker muted colours will allow the hat and your lustrous locks to stand out.
Bring back crimplene pants suits skirt suits and beaded handbags and l was a child in the 1960s and you bring up some happy memories of growing up in the 1960s

You seem to got the retro look right. I've seen some girls experiment with the retro look, go too plain looking and and up looking like their maiden aunt! Conversely some go too extreme and end up looking a bit punk! I love your fashion sense when you match your outfit with the car you are featuring.😊
Wow Steph, your depth of knowledge just shines through in this video. As a man i found it really fascinating to see how you build a look from the underwear up. I would personally like to wear more vintage clothes without looking "theatrical" so the suggestion of looking at contemporary street scenes instead of fashion pictures is really helpful. Hmm, which outfit. I like the purple one, but it is a slmilar look to the turquoise, so purely for 3 different looks on the 3 days, maybe the other one...
A very different video, but really pleased you made it. The day 1 outfit looks *so* in-period debutante! Kinda shocked that I called it as a young Queen Liz outfit before you mentioned it. Odd what facts you pick up along the way, even when you are a chap. If it is darker/cooler weather, I would go with the first outfit (purple). If it is a warm sunny autumnal day, the second (pink) outfit. I guess that might cause a problem choosing it here though :) The first looks slightly more mature, the second looks younger and more fun. Hence going with the mood of the day.

I can just imagine some of the women on TV shopping channels saying that about themselves while flogging the latest tat from China. You forgot to mention a wrist watch. Women in the fifties, sixties, and even seventies, wore very small watches; these can be picked uo for just a few punds from Ebay and many jewellers as they have completly fallen out of fashion; women today preferring mens, and smart watches.

God I had flashbacks of my mum in 68 69 70 before and emigrating to Australia by BOAC jet her cream and black stripe coat her white gloves she would wear if going to dances with dad even when we emigrated to Perth WA 1969/70 . Her low heal cream flat squared off toe slip on shoes . My mum missed mark's & Spencer's so so much we emigrated to Australia would always spend up when going back to visit uk family and underwear nighties slippers M&S cardigans. Also my older sister having a Dorset Born husband went with him to uk every couple of years do see his family and my mum would give my sister also bring back to Perth lots of women's clothes underwear from M&S for my mum until she passed away at 80 in 2010... Non of the regular shops in Australia my mum use to say compare with M&S & John Lewises she call it, liverpool department store ....

My wife always did as not everyone wants to show the VPL. I would go for the pink suit, your first buy as it looks great. This video is certainly different but educational all the same, as you do wear some interesting retro styled and often period correct outfits whenever you take the cars out, especially the older models. I remember having crimplene outfits and later on something called Terylene when I was a child - haven't heard those names in a very long time! Had no idea that the name Crimplene actually came from where the ICI factory was located. By any chance, is that company still in operation?

Red heads need to be careful with colour co-ordination, some colours clash dreadfully with red hair. I have vintage gents clothing to wear on my vintage bicycles.

I’m not terribly interested in vintage fashion but I have always appreciated the extra effort you take to make your video more interesting.
