You gotta give it to that Imperial Fist Captain. He was missing his right arm, met Horus high on chaos juice, and simply said "YOLO, we ball!"

The lore leaves it very mysterious what the Emperor plans were exactly. A lot of lore doesn't paint the Emperor as a good guy. His counselor and only friend called Malcador did some heinous shit while keeping Emperors plans secret from his sons... It would appear as he betrayed his sons and those two were definitely going to kill of some of the primarchs after the Great Crusade (he did the same thing to his Thunder Warriors who came before Space Marines).
He was a totalitarian ruler with a god complex: "I know what is right for all of the humanity. Now everyone, obey me without a question!", while appearing as a perfect 10 feet tall giant wearing golden armor and wielding a flaming sword while being surrounded by an army of golden angel looking warriors. He's not just a man... and definitely wasn't very humble or stoic about reuniting humanity.

Horus was told by the Chaos God's that his Father (the Emperor) stole some of their power and wisdom to create the Primarchs. And when the Emperor was finished conquering the galaxy, he would kill them all.

Each Custodes is a bespoke work of art compared to a mass produced Astartes. It's like comparing a Bentley to a BMW.

The Emperor was an alpha-plus psyker, who tapped the warp for power, whilst keeping the warp a secret from his sons, in order to safe-keep them from it. The warp got to Horus, and convinced him that their father betrayed them, by denying them the power of the warp.

  • @NexusGameEnt

The Heresy is itself, an amazing setting and bit of lore from GW for 40K. It has 60ish novels and an “eight” novel series to finish it. The “eight” is in quotes because there are a few novellas and book eight has three volumes (ie it’s three books really).
The Emperor was always an immortal psyker of considerable strength. He became the Alpha+ powerhouse we know him as by taking power from the Chaos Gods through a portal on the planet Molech during the Age of Strife.
The goal of the Emperor was to do away with worship that feeds power to the chaos gods. He also wanted to stop using the warp for space travel. The Imperial Truth and his super secret webway project were means to that end. The Primarchs were given limited knowledge of the warp to help avoid corruption. It is a realm that cannot be mastered or tamed and telling that to Primarchs who can master and tame everything else will get the “hold my beer” response out of most of them. ie they would be corrupted trying to master it.
Horus through manipulation and planning was wounded by a weapon of chaos made specifically to kill him. The only way to heal him was through a chaos ritual that was also used to corrupt him. There he was exposed to some of the Emperor’s necessary lies and shown the Imperium of 40K where he and half his brothers were forgotten and the Emperor was worshipped as a god. He wasn’t told his betrayal and civil war would be the catalyst to cause that to come true, but that is what set him off on the path of betrayal. Seeing the Emperor worshipped as a god was in stark contrast to everything they knew and a betrayal of the Imperial Truth they were spreading. That and being introduced to the “humble” pantheon of chaos who only sought to right the wrongs of the Emperor, led to the heresy.

Cadia is very popular btw in the lore because they represent the best of the human race imo. All of the surviving ancestors of the Cadians, 10,000 years later still fight "For Cadia". That is an intensely emotional and noble thing. To still fight for your home, that is gone, forever. Not choose to submit, to be defeated, to fall to chaos to gain power. But to believe and train and fight harder than ever before. To honor the billions that died on Cadia. There are similar planets you will hear about revolting to attacks by the Chaos factions, that inspires their people to fight like never before. Like Calth. "I was but a boy on Calth when the Word Bearers attacked. That is how I came to know the mark of Chaos." - Brother Chairon in Space Marine 2, 10,000 years ago.
He was one of the first batch Primaris Marines, stronger and faster and bigger then the previous iteration of Space Marines, and they were by the thousands put in stasis and woken up when the Imperium decided they most needed them. Created and designed by Belisarius Cawl of the Adeptus Mechanicus, on the orders of the founder of the founder of the Ultramarines and Primarch: Roboute Guilleman, both still live 10k years later, Cawl via cybernetic augmentation. He's basically the Einstein of the Imperium. Except WAY WAY more important and way more intelligent than Einstein ever was or will be tbh.
To get back to Cadia: they are also generally speaking considered to be tougher and better soldiers than most of the Astra Militarum, of which there are, if recall, there about 30 billion of them. Morale can be very important in war. Almost more important than being a good shot tbh. The "why" you fight is very important. Like the "why" our soldiers fight to protect the US and seek out and destroy our enemies, because it is their sworn duty. Makes me a bit teary eyed just describing that tbh, it's a very passionate piece of writing in the 40k universe, of which there are hundreds of examples) To still fight for your people, your home, the home of your GREAT GREAT GREAT GREAT ( etc etc ) ancestors is imo an intensely noble thing. To not have chosen to be defeated, but to reconstitute their iteration of our species ( Pureblooded Cadians have purple eyes ).
They could have dispersed into diaspora that then mixed in with the rest of the imperium, and of course some did, but most of them chose to keep the bloodline of their people going. Kind of similar to the situation the Jews tend to find themselves in tbh, to use one example here on our Earth. Their fighting firstly for survival, but also for something they believe in and that their people have believed in for thousands of years. There is a degree of respect that even if you don't like em, you gotta give it to em. For surviving, for not giving up. Not the best comparison tbh but yeah xD

Yeah, I think Sandman got a look at Bricky's view numbers on his 4 Intro into 40K videos and thought.. "Gee, sure would be nice to pull in those kinds of numbers." and gave that style of video a shot. Unfortunately it's a bit to short and a bit to inside for a lot of people.
See, one of the Primarchs was raised religious and just couldn't lay off the worshiping sauce (even though Big E's no. 1 rule is "There are no gods"). He started setting up the religion of Big E as the God Emperor (guess who's fault it everybody so religious in 40K) so Big E sent the Blueberries to teach him a lesson and burn down his Holy City.
He didn't learn his lesson though and went off (secretly of course) to find new gods to worship, found the Chaos Gods and got the snow job of all snow jobs. Not that he needed that much of an effort since he was a simp seeking something to simp for, after that he and the Chaos Gods found a way to corrupt Horus the Warmaster and... heresy followed.

As I've watched a lot of your videos out of order and I saw you talk about The Emperor stealing power from the Gods being mentioned in the Horus Heresy trailer. Keep in mind that this is what Horus believes, not necessarily what actually happened. A lot of stories and "facts" in Warhammer is based on the views of the one telling them. The unreliable narrator so to speak. Across all the lore and stories you will hear a lot of things stated as facts, even though many times it turns out later to not be true.
I suppose that's a way to be able to retcon things without breaking the lore :)
edit: I wrote this before watching. Seems I was wrong to jump to conclusions from another video. But with that being said, it's still important to keep in mind.
