    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    -- No matter how many shots he took, Allen Iverson couldn't beat the Atlanta Hawks by himself.
    Iverson scored 53 points, the fifth-highest total of his career, but Joe Johnson had 24 to lead the Hawks over the Philadelphia 76ers 111-108 on Friday night.
    "I'm as disappointed as everybody else on my team," Iverson said. "We wanted to go into the holidays with a win. We'll have to get this one out of our system and come back to work."
    Zaza Pachulia added a career-high 23 points, including the go-ahead free throws, and Al Harrington scored 22 for Atlanta, which won its fourth straight at home and its fifth in the last seven games overall.
    "We shared the ball," Pachulia said. "We had 29 assists, and that's great. We shot pretty good also, 54 percent. It's tough to beat a team like that."
    Iverson, who entered with a league-best 33.5 scoring average, had 21 points and six rebounds in the first half. He shot 17-of-31 and hit 19 of 21 free throws, the last coming on a three-point play that cut the Atlanta lead to 101-100 with 5:20 remaining.
    He broke the record that Shareef Abdur-Rahim set at 7-year-old Philips Arena with a 50-point performance against Detroit on Nov. 23, 2001. Iverson has scored 50 in nine games, including a career-best 60-point effort in a 112-99 win over Orlando last Feb. 12.
    Iverson gave the Sixers their last lead when his runner over Johnson and Pachulia made it 105-104 with just under 3 minutes remaining. Pachulia then made two free throws, then added a jumper for a three-point lead.
    On Philadelphia's last five possessions, John Salmons missed two straightaway 3-point attempts and had a fast-break layup blocked by Atlanta's Josh Smith.
    "When someone is scoring like that, everybody else isn't involved," Harrington said. "When they do shoot, they're ice cold, so that worked in our favor."
    Iverson drove past Salim Stoudamire and Harrington after a steal for the Sixers' last basket, a layup that cut Atlanta's lead to 110-108 with 36 seconds remaining. Philadelphia had the ball with 2.4 seconds left when Iverson made an inbounds pass in front of the Atlanta bench to Chris Webber, who missed an 8-foot turnaround jumper.
    "I told him before the play that if both men went to me, to go to the basket and get a good shot," Iverson said. "Things didn't go the way we wanted tonight."
    Johnson made one free throw, then jumped to intercept Andre Iguodala's long pass from the Hawks' baseline.
    Two free throws by Iverson gave the Sixers their biggest lead at 82-70 in the third quarter, but the Hawks went on a 26-9 run to go up 96-91 on Stoudamire's fast-break layup.
    "We showed a lot of character coming back from 12 down," Atlanta coach Mike Woodson said. "I thought Iverson was tremendous tonight. He created so many problems for us, but I like that we found a way to overcome that and get the win. We had a number of guys step up in the fourth quarter."
    Sixers coach Maurice Cheeks could tell a big difference when center Samuel Dalembert picked up his fifth foul with 9:02 remaining.
    "Our defense is a lot better with Sam in the game, because he can block shots and rebound the ball," Cheeks said. "They're a jump-shooting team, with the exception of Harrington. We just have to get better in all areas defensively."

    What athletic ability? He's 5'11 168lbs playing and scoring over 6'6 Jordan, 6'6 Kobe, 6'6 Carter. Carter and Jordan both had way more hops than A.I. Jordan had a 4'8 inch vertical, VC a 46 inch vertical, Kobe? He had some hops he was in the dunk contest, but he's still 6 inches taller than A.I. Much more athletically gifted, A.I. had nothing but his own skills and brain, endurce, mental toughness, and will power to make that shit happen! He can still get a ring if he wants it bad enough!

    Anytime man. It's sad to see how AI went down like this. He is somewhat responsible for this too. Somewhere down the road (not just even basketball but life in general) he really needs to learn how to be more humble. I love AI and his game but he really needs to prove that he still got it even when he needs to play overseas. Look at Stephon Marbury, he's having a good time in china.

    AI is possessed! He's just a monster! Imagine if he just did some off-season conditioning plus some drills and workouts, plus he worked on the Holes of his game to increase his 3-pt and freethrow shooting, and you made him a legit 6'6 or even 6'4?! Man he could be better than Michael Jordan and Joe Hammond!!

    I don't think this comment is fair to AI......As u guys know he has his wear and tear in his MVP season.....advoiding pratice may really help him out of injury..........except for the fact that he would need to practice in his off season to keep in shape....but with all being said, AI is still my hero

    The only way he's responsible for this is by not knowing that his mouth can get him into trouble, the media often misconstrues things and purposefully show you things to give you the wrong idea. Even the practice rant wasnt what it was made out to be and is still talked about as. You'll have to excuse me but this is one of my pet peeves, Iverson didnt have any less humility than the next player.

  • @blacktee31
    @blacktee31 12 лет назад

    Be more humble? Do you know the meaning of the word? The man got down on his knees and kissed the Sixers home court when he returned and wore shoes that said thnx philly. He stated multiple times that he'd rather have 0 points in a win than 50 points and a loss, that his individual achievements ment nothing to him without a ring. He stuck Philadelphia for over a decade despite never having better help than Erik Snow and Mutombo. I think he knows better than anybody how to remain humble.

  • @blacktee31
    @blacktee31 11 лет назад +1

    #1 the crossover isnt A.I.'s only move and he still has a dangerous first step and quickness 2. A.I. hasnt lost quickness he lost got outta shape and now has to get back into shape. Personal problems will do that to you. I couldnt care less about anything else you have to say. And the Hawks would be the perfect team for him because they have no scorer! You're not a die hard you're a poser. A diehard wouldnt dare disrespect A.I. by saying you cant build a team around him, go play 2k13.

  • @brentisverycool
    @brentisverycool 11 лет назад

    the crossover move is all based on quickness and speed dude. one AI lost that, there wasn't really a place for him in the league anymore. could he be guy on a championship who gives you a few minutes off the bench when you need scoring? possibly. but no way in hell could you build a championship team around him. before you say i'm a hater, i'm a diehard sixers fan from philly who watched every second of his comeback a few seasons ago. the guy has lost more than a step and frankly is detrimental

  • @brentisverycool
    @brentisverycool 11 лет назад

    yeah, i don't think humility is the reason AI is out of the NBA. plain and simple, he was a guy who relied on sheer athletic ability when he played. unfortunately you can't be 25 forever

    Where can I download the full length version of the December 23, 2005 matchup between the 76ers and the Hawks as a torrent file that can be in a VOB format. So that, I'll be able to put all 4 parts together into a full matchup by using Windows Movie Maker. Now remember, Do you have the link for that game which it can be aired in late 2005. Is that okay with you?

    *I think he knows better than anybody how to remain humble*
    Weeell..
    Meaning of 'humble': 'Marked by meekness or modesty in behavior, attitude, or spirit; NOT arrogant or prideful.'
    Hmm, sounds more like the complete opposite of AI..
