Quist in your scale suggestions for progression 2 of this backing track you mention “ minor (G) and Dorian (E)”. I understand E Dorian which maps to D major and B aeolian. But how does G minor relate?
This track just saved me years of my life. To anyone struggling to jam lead to backing tracks and struggling to understand theory - just do this. Learn the five positions of the minor pentatonic. Youll notice that when you learn the 5 positions it will most probably be in key of A. Shift all those positions up by one whole step. Next "link" the 5 positions. going up from one to the other. Dont overthink it. Just learn the 5 positions then play this. I was shocked how natural it came for me.
Amazing work as always. I play around 6 to 9 hours a day and with each backing track you create, it gives birth to an array of colours that I can paint in to the jam; something I find difficult from most tracks here on RUclips. I don't comment, this may be my first, but I must thank you for the work you manage to put out here and share to us all whilst doing what you do best. Time is a currency that isn't often spent on others today, so a huge thank you. All the very best!
I hadn't picked up my guitar for almost 2 years for lack of musicians were I live. But when I came by your channel I started playing again so thank you!! for putting these tracks out quist.
Don't get people leaving thumbs down for this, someone goes to a big effort to make something cool and beneficial for someone and instead people go and hit the thumbs down button instead of buying a fresh tampon... The mind boggles.... This is really cool
Never understood that myself. Sure some nights not into a specific jazz track or not into a specific blues track. But doesn't mean couple days later it fits perfectly into my mood.. never thumbs down on any backing track from me. Lot of work went into it.
interesting points ,if anyone else wants to discover jazz backing tracks try Jadonite Guitar Blues Buddy ( search on google ) ? Ive heard some decent things about it and my mate got cool success with it.
interesting points ,if anyone else is searching for jazz backing tracks try Jadonite Guitar Blues Buddy ( search on google ) ? Ive heard some decent things about it and my co-worker got great results with it.
El Sensei Quist, another beauty by you. This is a fantastic example of what I think "trance" instrumentation and mood SHOULD be, rather than the raucous angst of what's called "trance", with its warbling dissonance and industrial vibe. This isn't "ambient", but relaxing. In "trance" and like this, Latin percussion under this would be the ticket. Latin is FAR more "trance inducing" as its African forebear is all about. But it is what it am. You're a gifted man, thanks for so much generosity with your talent. Hope all's well!
The song is in B Dorian until 4:36, where the Emaj suddenly goes to E minor and a G major is added. The Dorian Scale isn't going to work anymore here, as the song is now in Aeolian Mode, or Natural Minor Mode, for a while, before returning to Dorian Mode again. Use the nature minor scale at 4:36, and the G major scale over the G major and E minor chords.
I can be quite fussy about backing tracks. But this was legitimately an Epic Guitar Backing Track. Great grooves, great structure, yet deliciously simple. I really love that your backing tracks have such great structure, really makes them feel alive - and feels like I'm playing with a real band, dynamically shifting the song around. I lock in so well, even on a first listen - the subtleties of the instruments on this track really guide you along well.
I've jammed to this track so many times as I've learned new shapes or scales. Just keep coming back. I love how in the intro you're making "Bass Face" - it's clear you're a bassist too. Normal guitarists don't make a face with that much stank. And if you don't actually play bass, bro - do it. Just do it. But back to learning 6-string for me for now. Just learned 3 of the 5 CAGED system shapes and want to burn them in now that I have them under my fingers a little. Then back to learn the other 2. And then I'll probably be back here again. Thank you so much for this track (and others).
I don't love the intro demo section,s but what I love about your tracks is that they are not an hour of pure repetition. The tracks have structure and movements. Thanks!
The best backing tracks coupled with examples of the most soulful leads. Licks with great phrasing, vibrato and he always summons more fire and passion that the other jam track producers who include lead ideas to assist player with a cool approach to lead. One other guy who plays a butterscotch Tele has great composed solos that are beautiful. So Quist and butterscotch tele man are my personal favorites.
Bro these tracks absolutely rock. Love them. Have just recorded a solo and tagged your channel! Will be doing more later today haha! Thanks man. Ps - your playing is amazing!!!
Thanks Quist, I use your backing tracks to practice improv on my piano, and they work great. Sometime I will get out my ES339 and actually solo over them. Love your tracks, always the best!
Wow! Your use of dissonance and sharps and flats is not only amazing but reveals a very complex, layered way of thinking! I used to get into Chick Corea music and he was the same way. I love this.
What a relief!!! This track was your on your homepage and I don't know how many times I have listened to it. However today when I visited your page it wasn't there and I just couldn't remember the track name, I had to go through a lot of tracks to finally get to this one. I have added it to my playlist now, won't take chances...lol. Awesome track! I love it.
i've been playing to this track for years.Since i started playing with backing tracks i even have certain licks i for this track that i dont use on anything else Thanks for making it ... how about a Gary Moore backing track ? Not the blues but like the song "the Messiah will come" i think its called ,believe it or not i just discovered him not long ago but i've been loving the band Crack the Sky for years ,the best little known band ...
Nice backing track! I see there have been 447 snowflakes who got triggered by not knowing how to jam to this track. Why people downvote jam tracks like this is beyond me! Makes no sense.
Awesome videos man. I'm happy to see you have so many followers. I've been jamming to your tracks constantly! And believe it or not I wouldn't be what I am as a guitarist without your contribution and support. You're my band mates all in one!
Thanks for all the TAB requests! TAB/notation + full solo breakdown lesson for this solo is HERE www.patreon.com/posts/14360122 Thanks for the support!
Quist in your scale suggestions for progression 2 of this backing track you mention “ minor (G) and Dorian (E)”. I understand E Dorian which maps to D major and B aeolian. But how does G minor relate?
Hi Andrew. By that I mean b minor scale (for the G chords) and B dorian (for the E chords)... I hope that helps!
ohhhh I see. Thanks!!! PS loved your vlog with Jon MacLennan. He's pretty hip!
nice! Yes, great player!!
Quist Excellent. Do Jimmy Page please

this is...like you'd never need any other backing track. This is the One.
+Wewerka001 :) :) :)
Hope my neighbors enjoy this as much as I do. Nice groove.
One of the best backing tracks I’ve ever heard
Fabulous! Just had a brilliant session with this track and my 11 year old son, first time we've properly jammed together and he loved it. Thanks!

+Jay Cee that is totally awesome to hear!!! I appreciate your thoughts and feel sure you will do well! Best, Quist
.
You release anything yet?
That first lick (you know the one) is the coolest lick I've ever heard played on an electric guitar, without a doubt.
yep agree bro!
youre doing a great service for providing your backing tracks. Fantastic work, i will have hours of fun playing to your tracks
awesome!!! Makes me very happy to hear :)
That break starting at 4:35 is the kind of stuff that make your backing tracks stand above many others 👍
I hadn't picked up my guitar for almost 2 years for lack of musicians were I live. But when I came by your channel I started playing again so thank you!! for putting these tracks out quist.

definately one of if not my fav backing track on youtube. cheers mate
:)))
This is one of the best solos I have and ever will play.
That sequential pentatonic lick from .09-.12 was absolutely awesome!! Great job and thanks!
Agree. It starts with a sequence based on Abm7(b5) arpegio btw
I'm glad this is so long. It gave me the chance to try a lot of different ideas. That's what she said.
+Patrick Campion 😂
interesting points ,if anyone else wants to discover jazz backing tracks try Jadonite Guitar Blues Buddy ( search on google ) ? Ive heard some decent things about it and my mate got cool success with it.
Patrick Campion nice joke at the end there lol
Patrick, did you just "'That's what she said" Yourself?!.. You're my hero.
Also the backing track is simple and great. Quist kills it.

So many TAB requests for this guitar solo!!! Thank you. It is now UP bit.ly/2x1xiqe 🎸 Can anyone tell what happened at the end?

absolutely hypnotizing, man.
just fiddled away 9 minutes and it felt great.

Great track. In my practice it sounds like it works in the "Key of A" too. Also believe that's the same as B Dorian.
