  • I was going to Church St when I saw a building on fire at the corner of Church St and 15th street in San Francisco. I was about 20 feet away and I saw firefighters go in on the roof and through the front door and break out windows on the top floor of this building. The man who owns the corner store in this building has a very heartfelt story that a documentary was made after him at www.cornerstore... . I've bought beer and lotto tickets from him before. He is a great guy who is always very nice.

    I like how the cops are telling everybody to get back so the FD can operate, but then park the patrol car with it's trunk open right in front of a hydrant delaying the incoming 2nd alarm engine company from hooking up, lol.

    Great work by the San Francisco Fire Department(SFFD). Those guys are some hard-chargin' Firemen!! Look at them attack the "Red-Devil", calm, cool, aggressive, and making it look easy. The guys on 6 Truck going up to ventilate, working in conjunction with 6 Engine, 36 Engine, 7 Engine, & 7 Truck. Then Rescue 2 come in and does their thing, I have the utmost respect for the SFFD!!

      @Collateralcoffee 8 лет назад

      Wow. Are you trying to demonstrate that you know more than others, or are you just an idiot who destroys the "respect" he has by overdoing it? Sorry, dude, that just sounds like you are a total piss ass who uses this to tell everyone what a batman he is.

    • @Johnny7051MC
      @Johnny7051MC 8 лет назад

      Collateralcoffee, you're saying I'm a piss ass for complementing the SFFD on their tactics in Firefighting? Was I too descript in my script, thus making me a piss ass? I assume this is what you mean by my "using", Collateralcoffee. Just trying to make sense of your reply that you took time out of your day to give. On a side note, Batman should be capitalized, your teachers at Continuation School should have taught you that Collateralcoffee. So sorry if my passionate reverence for the SFFD offended you Collateralcoffee, attaining the title of a piss ass was not my objective. Thanks Collateralcoffee, you're a swell guy!!

      AR They did a Horrific job! They could have had the initial fire out within one minute after they stopped with the Deck Gun and look how long they LET IT BURN! How much damage they LET happen. Stop dreaming and the Hero Worship and Think! P.S. Vertical Venting Does NOT Work!

      @yosarian84 8 лет назад

      +TheHonarable1: In SFFD the red/white helmets wear the truckies, Engine guys wear all-black, not sure though what's the exact reason they've got it like this, but it's a tradition going back to the late 19th Century or so. Hope this helps.

      John Argus More fire department vehicles may have been on the way, or they could be staging ambulances there just in case. There could have been many reasons, but they all come down to safety. Also, you're watching the video from your computer. I don't think you have the right to determine if they were in danger or not. What if there was a store that had some type of chemicals in it, or a shed with a bunch of propane behind the houses or something? The possibilities are endless and you have to always assume the worst from the start. I'm not trying to start an internet argument or anything, just trying to offer a different perspective on the matter.

      I agree. From a bystander's perspective, I felt that people were way too close. If ANYTHING went wrong, people could have been in danger. I was surprised they let me stand there for so long.

    • @geo80551

      CLYDE FROG Ladder trucks are considered trucks period. They all don't come in red. They come in all different colors. Engines are considered engines and they come in different colors also. If you see emergency vehicles with lights and sirens on just get out of the way,no matter what color it is. Fire Apparatus is the basic name for all trucks and engines together, if you want to call a spade a spade.

    • @albeone3574
      @albeone3574 9 лет назад +2

      Actually there were 7 engine companies, 3 truck companies (tillers not towers)and a heavy rescue squad on the scene by the time of this video clip's conclusion if we're keeping count.

      samuel2500 We don't know that for sure if it was caused by an arsonist. Not every fire in big city like San Francisco caused by arson. It could've been somebody was smoking inside the room and inadvertently dropped the cigarette onto a sofa or rug or anything that is flammable.

      KevinWijaya95 all the recent fire's we had for the last year that we're on the news have been in the mission district c'mon man stop hiding from the truth and plus there trying to redevelope the mission 1+1 =2 right ok then and other thing in the Ingleside district, jose otega elementary school sits on a hill with a beautiful view of daly city and the mountains someone keeps calling and making bomb threats theres no bomb they want the view so you wanna take away a kids education so you can build condos wow

      There is a fire only about five or six blocks from this one only about a year prior to this. The only reason I remember it is because I was at my client's house and I smell the smoke because she only lived about half a block over and it scared the bejesus out of me because she was almost due to give birth. Their kid just turned four. It was rather heartbreaking because the guy whose Place caught fire or at least had fire damage was a holocaust Survivor.

    Deck Gun through the windows 30 seconds after arrival and the fire is 85% out in another 30 seconds. On TANK water! You don't have to be a No Name fire department to STINK! Stupid American fire fighting. Oh, and, Vertical Venting does Not work as Imagined. Stay Off the roof!

    • @JB91710
      @JB91710 7 лет назад +1

      I don't have a clue what your point is but I think you might want to read my comment again. Pure logic and common sense and 10 years of fire fighting and actually getting the job done Now!

    • @JB91710
      @JB91710 7 лет назад

      Gregg When the video started the trucks were there, hoses were pulled. and the ladder was on it's way up. That means they were there a long time before the video started. If the first truck stopped in front of the burning room and hit it with the deck gun on tank water, they probably have stopped. As you can see, NO fire fighting is going on until 1:53 and even then it was a lame effort. My point is, when you can SEE burning material you hit it with the fastest and largest water you have, The Deck Gun on Tank Water. You keep in mind that it is YOUR house and your Mother is laying on the floor right outside the door to that room. Are you going to follow a bunch of brain dead tactics that have nothing to do with stopping the fire or drench it as fast as possible? Merry Christmas.

    • @JB91710
      @JB91710 7 лет назад

      Gregg Roof or Vertical Venting Does Not Work as Imagined. It only risks lives, damages the roof and helps to burn it off. A house is Not a chimney and can't work like one. Too many "Dampers" like ceilings, floors, walls and doors! The real reason it doesn't work is that the fire that was smoldering in the attic has now been fueled with fresh air and has erupted into an inferno which creates an enormous amount of pressure in that confined space. The hole they cut cannot release all that pressure so you have now created a Cork in the top of Your chimney. Heat from below can't escape Through the tight ceiling to get into the attic and the pressure wouldn't allow it even if there Was a hole in the ceiling. "Find what is burning and put water on it! If you can't see it, find it and put water on it. If it gets hot along the way, cool the ceiling gasses with a spray of water. If the smoke is thick, open the upper sashes of the floor you are working on." Most importantly, THINK don't Follow what instructors Tell you.

      He's the man. Did you know he never needed anything more than tank water during his illustrious ten year career in rural Vermont? Pretty impressive isn't it? I'm surprised departments weren't lined up out the door to get him hired into their organizations.

    • @maggy3418
      @maggy3418 6 лет назад +2

      grey man there’s no way he’s a firefighter. The way he yaps about deck guns on every damn fire video on RUclips clearly shows he has no clue how to engage a fire scene. With his cowboy tactics, he’d be a risk to any crew he worked on and a liability to whatever department had the misfortune of having him on staff. My guess is he’s a 15 year old kid with too much time on his hands.
