  • Part 9 in my series walking through various elements of my holiday lighting show and setup. All my front-facing first story windows have outlines. Pixels are spaced at 2" and mounted into Boscoyo ChromaTrim V3, zip-tied onto PVC or EMT Conduit Frames that I built.
Parts and construction: Pixels are mounted into Boscoyo Studio ChromaTrim V3 (they are on V4 now at the time of posting this video). Then those are zip-tied onto frames of PVC for my smaller garage windows (I used Sch80 PVC for more strength), or 1/2" EMT Conduit for my larger windows. They sit snugly within the brick window frame, but I also added anchors on the sides of the brick that I zip-tie just to ensure nothing falls out with crazy winds.

Helpful, wish there were daytime closeup showing the uninstalled units. Thanks for showing it can be done nicely with the Chromatrim

I see that you don’t have a node on the 4 corners. Is that because you separated every 2”

How do you store the frames? Do they come apart somehow?

Looks great! How did you mount the conduit to the window? Or the brick around it?

It sits pretty snugly in the brick alcove and would probably hold just fine as-is. But I also added O-rings screwed into the mortar on the two sides. Then I just zip-tie my frame to those O-rings to ensure it won't fall out with crazy winds.

@@GandorFamilyLightShow Ditto.. Zip ties and a stapler for wood frames works great with little damage around the PVC frames.

    What works better
    Outdoors or indoors?

Not sure I know what you mean by "better". With inside, one has to worry about the window edges blocking stuff, but it's protected from the elements. With outside, I can do the outline box more easily, but obviously it's outside in the elements.
