Was lucky enough to see Chris play at basement east and every time he took a solo it was like the whole place got strangely quiet and just got lost in the moment. He’s an incredible talent.
All those 50 previous times Chris has shown us his pedalboard and explained everything in professoral detail finally culminating here. It was all a rehearsal until the day he met Mr. John Bohlinger. Happy for you, Chris. 😊
Chris Buck seems really genuine. I really dig his content, his tone, and Cardinal Black is a great band. His solo in Tell Me How It Feels is exquisite!
How Yamaha haven’t made this into a signature model already blows my mind ! I’ve seen so many people commenting about just that in every video he’s in! He clearly has the following to make it a success so I really don’t know why they haven’t jumped on the chance! They better act on it before another big brand steps in
I want a Chris signature one right now. My money is waiting. I want the relic under the volume knob and the lines throughout the gold, just like his. Please!
I love bending up to fifth, then accenting it by bending up to the sixth, then bending back to the fifth before doing a descending legato lick which resolves on the four
Chris is an amazing player with a gorgeous guitar tone! I think the market would appreciate his signature model… Hope to see Cardinal Black in Italy soon 🖤
Greatest guitarist right now Dude is absolutely incredible. He is on his way up,he needs to move to the states and play and colab there for a couple years.
Definitely one of my favorite guitarists, his soloing is so dynamic, smooth and the note choices! When I grow up I want to be like Chris 🤣 Glad you got to check off a bucket list item Chris!
Proud implies you had something real to do with his success. More appropriate would be “pleased for his success”. As in you are you are proud of your progenies Scholiastic achievements. You definitely have a role in that endeavour.

Great video thanks, would love to see a John Bohlinger rig rundown of sorts with all his favorite gear, new and old he uses at home. The les Paul i've been seeing in the 'First Look' videos etc. with the pinstripe style art on it. And mostly any weirdo vintage or new guitars he has in his arsenal, picks/ strings etc. Thanks for all the videos appreciate this channel. All the best.
Dear Yamaha - Please do a version of the Revstar in the Dark Coffee Sunburst with the matte black neck like the BB734a… I’ll take two. I bet Mr. Buck would buy one too! Thank you!
I have commented elsewhere that Chis may have led me astray as I tried a goldtop SG1802 last week and I am now wondering what to sell to make it mine. It was a spectacular guitar to play. Thanks to Yamaha in London for letting me try it - and for putting it back on the wall. I really can't afford it at the moment. Like I really can't afford it........
Yamaha is such a great company. They quietly churn out some of the best gear on the planet and it's priced at maximum value. The Revstars have got to be terrifying more expensive guitar makers.
A P90 guitar makes a great choice for Chris' expressive vocal playing. The chambering doesn't hurt. I always thought the Revstar was a really nice looking modern design. But this Goldtop with the heavily played in Nitro is the business. Thinking of getting one of the cheaper Revstars and maybe fitting a Duesenberg Les Trem to it. Love my Baum Wingman for similar things about that Revstar (P90 style pickups, resonant, light and unique), and get a whole lot of use of it's Bigsby.
Love everything about it ✔️ always did at first sight + sound ✨️ and the color is the iceing on the cake, as good as gold 💛 and yes it reminds me of my Gibson LP Gold Top 💯 Yamaha makes fantastic products. Love their 70's SG-2000 ( Santana's choice at the time, heavy duty) They also make a great 12string acoustic line, one I've been using through the years 🎸 very much like a Martin, they got it down 👍 You Rock Chirs 👏 ty all the best! 🎶 ArtyThan ☆♡☆
Before I even watch this short gear video. I'm noticing that whenever I've seen ANY of Chris's gear reviews. He's supremely confident about what he uses. And can express himself just as easily with loads of different guitars. This lends itself to the absolute best "feel" I ever see him play with. It seems to come reasonably easy, without much thought or stress. This is something that hasn't always translated into his live performances. I've also noticed him playing with his eyes closed more, recently. This young man has the chops beyond any doubt. There's still a few kinks to work out of his stage poise though. Its not a matter of "if" now. But when, he'll get over that bit of stage fear thats still creeping in. When that hurdle gets leapt, I just can't see much else holding this guy back? The fans are on board 100% already. So thats a gravy train. Chris is something extra special, that has a clear path to wherever he'd like to take it. Its my belief this guy will have big-time success in the next couple years. Chris Buck has arrived!
I’ve seen Chris twice live . Once with Buck and Evans and the other time with Cardinal Black . I was also lucky to have a long chat with him at a Glasgow Guitar show where he was demoing the Revstar . I’ve been going to live gigs for more years than I can remember and I can’t say that I noticed any signs of nerves from Chris , indeed he spoke well at the Buck And Evans gig considering they’d just been dealt a huge financial blow by Pledge Music collapsing . Look forward to seeing Cardinal Black later this year and the release of their second album , Chris is superb as are the rest of the band -onwards and upwards .
Yamaha should just make this model with these inlays, the ones they offer for the goldtop are not as cool as these imho. Also the aging would be cool too !!
Matteo Mancuso plays a Yamaha Revstar. He’s the first guitarist I saw playing one. He is a phenomenal player. Of course, Chris Buck as well. Both have different styles of playing, though.

The reason Revstars fly under the radar is because people are d*mb. The Japanese (Professional) model delivers Custom Shop craftsmanship and quality control, costing the same as a brand new American Ultra Fender and is 500 dollars less than a Standard LP. Meanwhile the Made In Indonesia (Standard) model delivers a lot more than equivalent Epiphones and MiM Fenders, whilst being cheaper as well. I hope more and more players, both new and veterans, look up to Chris and Matteo as inspirations to pick up a Revstar.
He mentioned trying different ones, Sunbear (or was it mini humbukers?) and Tyson Tone, both underwind 50s style. But whatever he plays it sounds like him ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Yamaha has been putting out some stunning guitars in the recent years. I was truly blown away by their parlor sized accoustic's build quality and playability.
They’ve been doing fantastic guitars for over 60 years. Check out their high end LL acoustic line. They’re on par, or better, than any of the high end makers in the US. The lower priced, FG Red Labels have been highly coveted by folkies and bluegrass players since the 1960’s. I played a Yamaha SG model back in the 1980’s. They sell for $5K nowadays. It was better made than anything coming out of Fender or Gibson. Look ‘em up!
It's not all that great! I just received my brand new Revstar RSS02T packaged from Yamaha and it had a very high bridge, tool marks on the fretboard, cracks in the binding, high frets and a poorly fitted and cut nut causing buzzing. It is at the Luthier now to even make it playable...
I know it has nothing to do with his music, But he really needs to lose the British grandmother hairstyle! Just a personal statement...He does have great hair.
