How do you make your own starter to start making sourdough? We live in Arkansas and I tried making starter with Einkorn whole wheat flour and buttermilk after a couple days being left out it was growing fuss I went by a recipe
Hey! You want to use flour and water. So I would start out with a few tablespoons of flour on the first day and add enough water to make it like a paste. Add a few more tbsp of flour and water each day. If it gets to be to much you can toss out half of the starter. But keep feeding it every day and by day 10 or so you should have a starter going. It will be nice and bubbly and smell yeasty.
Leave it out on the counter, sometimes this takes several tries to get it going but you should eventually get there. I imagine WW einkorn should do really well for a starter.
I am loving sourdough now that I started it. Thank you so much for your help!
Everything looks so delicious! Making me want to make sourdough bread again!
Thanks friend!
