As great a player as he was he's even better in person. I've run into him here in Miami a few times and we've always had great conversations. A truly genuine person. Did I mention he was a great player? Yep! My favorite Heat player of all time...
@fooloof Oh whatever. He's changed now. I'm not defending what I did but he's done so much for homosexual people since he realized how hurtful those things he said we're.
Other people had prettier crossovers. Nobody ever, in the history of the league had a dribble weapon more effective that the simple misdirection crossover. He perfected that shit. Hardaway's cross dribble was basically Kareem's sky hook. Completely unstoppable.
+Uncle Drew when he came to the league he got called a lot for carrying he would excite the crowd with it so the nba said fuck it let him do his thing problem is once you let 1 get away with it they all start to follow hardaway stayed within the rules to me means he is the best ever .
Tim Hardaway is almost forgotten amongst new Heat fans. When I was a kid, he was my favorite player. He’d take over games late; hit big shots. Those windmill layups with the spin. Dude was really fun to watch.
Iverson might've broken more ankles, but his crossover was essentially a carry every time. Hardaway had the purest crossover, and he knew exactly how to use it to get space and/or blow by guys. A joy to watch.
Yup, Tim Hardaway's crossover in college and in the pros before his injuries was better than Iverson's in my opinion. His was a quick power dribble crossover. Iverson had longer arms and cupped the ball out really wide but it didn't get called as carrying the ball because it was his/signature move and he was a superstar
A.J. Rose Hardaway and Isiah Thomas had the best crossovers in the history of the game in my opinion...They didn't need to do much of the exaggerated shoulder fake and the high-dribble crossovers (which exposes the ball more and is easier to mimic) that many players do these days. Hardaway and Isiah could effortlessly crossover in the open court without much of a pause. They were very fluid and masters of the low-dribble crossover. Chris Paul is one of the best these days as his wrist control is excellent and he maneuvers very well in tight traffic.
When I was little I always wondered how players get caught with the same move, I tried to emulate it but I was fat and slow 😂. I would get picked off every time.
My favorite player+number when i was a kid. and still now. Miami fans stay loyal. My dad used to take me to see them play at the old miami arena. Those were the days in elementary.
Best crossover ever, the smoothest one , no irk in jerking with the head neck or shoulders, doesn't hold the ball(carry) and always stays in forward motion. PERFECT!
Full Meta Jacket not hating, because I loved when Ray and Al came in. But Al carried the hell of the rock, but that heart in him helped the HOF status the most IMO.
Now that's a crossover from the 80's and early 90's. Triying to dribble with least amount of carrying possible. That quickness and groove. Tim Hardaway IN THE HOF! NOW!
Tim hardaway was one of the best point men in NBA history about 4 years in a row with the GS warriors he averaged over 22 pts and 10-11 ast a game only kevin johnson did that.
I remember when I was a kid I saw a VHS tape where they done a feature on his crossover and that was the first time I heard the phrase "Killer Crossover". Right then I became a Tim Hardaway fan. Unreal quickness.
reallllyyyy? while you could be Golden State Warriors, Dallas Mavericks, Denver Nuggets or Indiana Pacers fan! you choose to be Miami Heat fan.... it surely has nothing to do with LeBron or bosh or D Wade..... yea very logical. ..... /s
***** Personally I think Chris Bosh should have stayed in Toronto. D Wade and LeBron that was a good idea. And you know they sell hormone supplements at London Drugs.
if you compare his crossover to Iverson.. Iverson have more varieties and far more creative, but if you ask me Ill still pick Hardaway.. his crossover is just two dribble.. between the legs and a normal crossover.. the question is why is it so effective even though its so predictable? the answer is because his hand speed is fucking fast.. hardaway is fast yes but the moment he switch the ball from left to right its so fast it looks like the ball vanish ..there was the time that his crossover is so fast that it is in the Guinness book of records.
Yeah he always went to his right after the cross. It looked so simple and predictable, but his incredible speed made his crossover unstoppable. It's debatable whether A.I. or Hardaway had better crossover though.
Andy Im It is true it is very debatable.. there both fast but in two different ways.. Iverson rely on his speed and quickness of his steps..while Hardaway use more of blindly fast hand speed..I mean if I a defending a player who is fast atleast I know which direction he is going I mean I wont be able to catch up yes but Ill be able to predict that I will get my help and Ill be able to block his passing lane if he decided to pass.. but if Im defending a guy who's handspeed is so fast dribbling the ball that I dont even know which direction to go..the most scary thing about basketball is not knowing where is the ball..cuz your brain is trying to figure out how to act while your body is just stagnant.. and by then before you figure it out its already too late..thats just my own opinion that is why I pick hardaway.
@@bonbal9184 What this video doesn't show is that he LOVED to go left so you HAD to over play the fake to the left. Then he was so fast, once he got you leaning the slightest bit he's gone.
I think most people who actually watched him play would consider him a Warrior(Run TMC), not a Heat. I'm a Blazer fan, but really, who didn't enjoy watching, or try to copy his killer crossover?
Back in the day, I was a huge fan of the '97 Heat. It's too bad just a few years later almost the entire team is gone. Tim way by far my favorite player.
His crossover was that good, that he could tell you what way he was going, you know what way he is going, and he still pulled it off and embarrassed his defenders. THe days of the UTEP 2 Step...
Sij Cecilio lol I'm not saying that I'm saying his crossover are better compared to u now probably because he's was in the NBA and has practiced it more unlike us.
it's crazy how advanced the moves got in the nba now. Deron williams is like tim hardaway 2.0. The complexity of deron williams crossover is amazing. He can link up endless cross dribbles and then come back to a spin move. Props to Tim tho for being the OG
+Getloose360 LoL @ the luggage comment. I grew up know the Tim Hardaway type move as a crossover. Not the hessitation, swaying from side to side, luggage carrying movements of today..... Not haying on the modernized crossover, just I personally like Tim's more.
Timmy and Stockton were my two fav pgs as a kid. I wanted him on the Knicks so bad it hurt and I just wish jr had that cross. Better shooter than dad but I love the Lil guys who could break ankles, get to the hole, and make sick passes.
Hardaway and Rose are eerily similar... Born in Chicago, explosive PGs with killer crossovers, twist and finish in the lane the exact same way, tore their ACLs etc.
My favorite part is that he just about always would go right (he has pointed it out himself) but he sold it so smooth that he'd blow right by fools anyway. It was half coordination, half jedi mind trick.
The killer crossover...he had one of the quickest crossovers ever before the knee injury and even then it was still damn good, but he was never the same player after the injury...
This crossover was poetry. Many players do crossovers and many are effective but for most their effectiveness depends on their athletic ability. Hardaway is the 'Picasso' of the crossover because it wasnt about how fast he was. Even late in his career on one leg he could still do it. There was that slight pause and change of pace like a nasty change-up in baseball that left the defender off balance. Sometimes slow sometimes quick, you never know whats comin but you're done either way.
in terms of efficiency and quickness tim's crossover is the best. ai's crossover is nice because he adds that real strong hesitation shake at the point of crossing over. they both have there unique style and are both legends at the crossover.
Hardaway's the change of pace . whoosh! Harden abuses it now. Lulls his defenders to sleep and bam , either a 3 to the face or just take him to the basket.
Chicago's very own Tim Hardaway from the wild 100's Algeld Gardens and Carver HS with the original killer crossover without palming the ball like AI. Nobody can do it like Tim.
*sigh* He IS one of the best PGs of all time. Especially when you factor in that he played without his other knee half his career. 3rd in MVP voting while in Miami, while playing with a completely messed up knee. Consistent night after night, if he played today with no big guys in the paint and no handchecking, he would be illegal. Really strong for a little man as well.
NigelPrentice.... Your right. Great point and I completely agree. Allen Iverson might embaress more people with his killer crossover, but Tim Hardaway just did enough to get the space he needed and thats all you need. The most simple but deadliest crossover ever.
Perhaps the most devastating crossover move ever. If you were defending Hardaway in the open court, you knew it was coming and still couldn't do anything.
I swear he reminds me of me in high school, i always went right, but sum how i always got to the basket and made the lay up. lol crazy. and i used that same cross over. Go left then quick switch, oh yea, its a classic, and never fails if your quick.

You ever heard of the inventor? God Shamgod thank me later
Iverson's cross over is way better
It’s called “ utep two-step” doing it since college. I grew up watching him and my 90’s bulls. 90’s ball was great! Utep( university of Texas El Paso)
Tim Hardaway and Allen Iverson alone have littered NBA courts with many broken ankles.
AI's crossover was only a carry because of the way he hesitated, then crossed. But it was not a carry every time.
Yup, Tim Hardaway's crossover in college and in the pros before his injuries was better than Iverson's in my opinion. His was a quick power dribble crossover. One of the realest point guards/ people. What a career he had
THE KILLER CROSSOVER! HANDS DOWN TO THIS MAN!
My favorite player+number when i was a kid. and still now. Miami fans stay loyal. My dad used to take me to see them play at the old miami arena. Those were the days in elementary.
The crazy thing is that much of this footage came after he tore his ACL. He was way quicker before the injury.
He never palms the ball like many other do he was the 🐐 of crossovers
crossover on a fast break . now thats just plain nasty
Billy Lzer you forgot about iggy
Best crossover ever, the smoothest one , no irk in jerking with the head neck or shoulders, doesn't hold the ball(carry) and always stays in forward motion. PERFECT!
True handles. Couldn't carry the ball like in today's game. The rule change came when AI hit the league.
100% true
+Brendan Weber read my mind
but he carried it all the way to the hall of fame so... there you go. #someta
Full Meta Jacket not hating, because I loved when Ray and Al came in. But Al carried the hell of the rock, but that heart in him helped the HOF status the most IMO.
Today’s players don’t carry. Only player that carries at times is Kevin’s Durant
Now that's a crossover from the 80's and early 90's. Triying to dribble with least amount of carrying possible. That quickness and groove. Tim Hardaway IN THE HOF! NOW!
is it just me or does he more or less do the same crossover but still catches defenderes?
Same crossover man
He's quick as shit
word I'mNotCharlesBarkley SoDon'tBanMe
he is
Correct. Everyone in the arena and at home knew when it was coming. The defense knew too. Yet, swish, layup....
Nothing changes about it. It's the exact same move. But it catches them EVERY single time.
Watching Tim Jr in playoffs in June 2021. Reminiscing about his dad and the "killer crossover". Often imitated, but never duplicated!
1:14
Jesus that was quick.
I'm lucky enough to know Tim personally and when he taught me this it made a lot of other people mad on the courts hahaha
Thats awesome! How do you know Tim Hardaway? And how did he teach it to you? Would you mind giving me any tips that he gave you plz?
Such a simple cross, but so deadly gotta love tim.
Not as simple as you think
I'mNotCharlesBarkley SoDon'tBanMe your username is hilarious 😂😁😂😁
DR. Professor Lesnar hell yeah!!
if u had those handles in your game u wouldn't be calling it simple.
true creator of the cross over, one of the best ball handlers NBA ever saw
Tim hardaway was one of the best point men in NBA history about 4 years in a row with the GS warriors he averaged over 22 pts and 10-11 ast a game only kevin johnson did that.

So instead of looking like bandwagon, playing hide and seek card by blaming tim hardaway? ...... not convinced!
***** Personally I think Chris Bosh should have stayed in Toronto. D Wade and LeBron that was a good idea. And you know they sell hormone supplements at London Drugs.
***** You're so ignorant. You probably think every Heat fan is a bandwagon.
He sold it so well with his body, but had the delicate control in his hands and kept it low and smooth.
He’s the only player that would hit you with a crossover running down the court.
Indeed, the way he did that was almost unstoppable.
Jason Kidd could do it
he's such a great player, quick, could shot anywhere, team player. I legend in my mind.
I love Miami Heat also I remember when Alonzo mourning and Tim haradaway were the best team in the league during the late 90s
It's amazing how a QUICK simple left, right is still effective till this day.

Iverson carried the ball on the majority of his crossovers dude
i hope tim gets into the hall of fame he had such a special talent
Tim was so classy., i miss guys like him and Stockton.
the best crossover ever
Who’s here after First Take crossover segment?
I am 😂
So simple, yet elegant at the same time.
Simple ?

BM3O8 Heat all day.

He's da original... I love how he broke ankles erwhere he played.....he s da reason I be crossing deze clowns so sick like!
Hands down the best crossover ever: quick and efficient.
Tim to the rim
His crossover was that good, that he could tell you what way he was going, you know what way he is going, and he still pulled it off and embarrassed his defenders.
THe days of the UTEP 2 Step...
Did he ever start a crossover on the right and finish the drive on the left instead?
One of the greatest PG's of his era
His crossover is so smooth. He makes it looks so easy but when i try it it's not as fast as his or as effective (probably because im just a kid lmao)
Keep practicing kid. Practice makes perfect
Sij Cecilio probably because he was an NBA player.
Antbeast23 Not all nba players have smooth crossovers

this was dope. in order of best crossovers of all time its hardaway, iverson, and rose
Robert Nortmann what other good basketball players who have good dribble crossover skills other than Tim & AI?
Callum Brown white chocolate was kinda beast with handles, Mr j. will ( Jason Williams)
sound
Callum Brown go check out michael jordan's crossover.
Callum Brown I always say Grant Hill had one of the best crossovers. Especially for his size.
Two months from now, I will have MASTERED this move.
broken ankles everywhere ---- looks slow cause he isn't carr-y-ing like they do know
who said it looked slow??
YUP!!! all handles here. Players today carry the rock like luggage.
+Getloose360 LoL @ the luggage comment.

Not haying on the modernized crossover, just I personally like Tim's more.
My favorite one is the Denver Nugget one. He was old, the announcers saw it coming, probably everyone saw it coming, still went right and swished it.
so sick. you know its going to happen but your mind cant stop it, your body just reacts haha
Timmy and Stockton were my two fav pgs as a kid. I wanted him on the Knicks so bad it hurt and I just wish jr had that cross. Better shooter than dad but I love the Lil guys who could break ankles, get to the hole, and make sick passes.
best legal crossover the game has ever seen. This is the only person i have ever seen cross over on a fast break and not lose speed.
that crossover the 3 ball he had was deadly as hell
Hardaway and Rose are eerily similar... Born in Chicago, explosive PGs with killer crossovers, twist and finish in the lane the exact same way, tore their ACLs etc.
Not flashy, not fancy. EXTREMELY practical, bang bang, excuse me.. Classic crossover!

He is the guy who invented crossover❤️
tim hardaway said it himself .he was on the arsenio hall show back in the day and explained where the move came from.
Still has the best crossover in NBA history, in my opinion, since he didn't carry the damned ball every single time
