I arrived in SE Asia with two medium size suitcases. I also brought a pair of dress shoes that I haven't worn in 4 years. I have one pair of blue jeans that I don't wear here but bring back with me to the States. After two years I will have to try them on again to see if they still fit.
When it rains in SE Asia it really really rains and sometimes there is flooding. I recommend you travel here with one pair of sturdy shoes that you can wear in the water. Something comfortable for a long walk; you can wear without socks; drains water; and dries reasonably fast. I started with a light hiking shoe. Now I have a pair of Croc shoes that look OK; are all mesh plastic; and are comfortable.
Hi Gio, me and my Philippina fiancé got tired of waiting for the opening so we meet in Bangkok. I came from Canada her from Manila. Entering Thailand was very easy! Complete the required documents and submit, PCR 72 hours before travel, PCR on arrival, Quarantine 1 day till negative results then we were free to go. Just a self administered Antigen test 6 days after our arrival. If the Philippines doesn’t open by March we’re going back to Thailand.
A very comprehensive and informative video. Thanks for making it.
Glad it was helpful!
Thailand requires vaccinated travelers to take a PCR test when you arrive and you have to book one night in a quarantine hotel to wait for the results.. They were poised to use antigen tests but have postponed that until Omicron is better understood.
Since i plan on moving to the Philippines soon after tourism opens i greatly appreciate this informative video!!
I prefer Roku over Firestick. Haven’t worn a watch in 45 years. My job forbids watches, key remotes, and any type of electronics. Can’t bring them into RF shielded facilities. Looking forward to buying a fancy electronic sports watch. Every morning I have an office ritual. Empty all pockets into my desk drawer. Also, have an iPad, but they are impossible to read on a bright beach. Plan to buy a Kindle or Nook ereader for the beach. I’m really into diving. Should I bring my own fins?
I have two suitcases and one carry on. I have shirts and shorts, sewing kit, playing cards, ibuprofen, laptop, Ipad, socks, underware, towels, wash cloths (100 percent cotton) flip flops, and if I ever get approved for the EED I will buy chocolate.
I also heard to bring a good american can opener.
Gio! I hope you're doing well over there. I don't know if you've tried the Merrell Moab 3 hiking shoe. I'm looking into getting a pair for the Philippines... have you tried the waterproof vs the regular version? Could you recommend one or the other for the Philippines?
I hear the waterproof version isn't very breathable and your feet can get hot and sweat a lot. But I know from experience that non breathable apparel isn't good for the Philippines. But of course, there can also be a lot of rain in the Philippines... so I'm trying to figure out which would be best.
Yeah man, this is what we need with all lockdown and flight cancellations.
Well, it will open eventually.
The cool thing is this video will still be there...there is this amazing thing called playlist you can add it to.
Great advice Gio and best wishes to Sean for sharing his thoughts! Take care guys!
Our pleasure!
Thanks guys great info as I was wondering about these kind of things. See what Omicron does I think I might just come for a vacay and then make up my mind. Round-trip is not a whole lot more than one way with throwaway ticket. I'll keep watching Geo. sooo much to learn!
I bought my ticket for the end of April and me and my Phillipina were excited, but now, even if we are 5 months apart, I'm worried the airline will take my money and I wont be able to travel.
What is the best way to ship small packages and can you ship over the counter meds to the Philippines?
We are all ready 😁
He said 1 hour and a half in a cab... I wonder how much did that cost ?
Enjoyed your chat with Sean. Having lost two good friends (in their 60's) to Covid, felt the last exchange on joking the gov had Covid mutations all lined up a bit insulting.... maybe just me. IMO the disease is real, so joking about it to someone you has lost friends, didn't seem right to me.
Agreed basically laughing at our healthcare workers as they take the brunt of every new variant.
Other item to bring a jacket yeah I know it’s 100+° but you may go home one day. might go to Korea land at six in the morning and it’s 0° happened to me and it was cold. Not a coat and flip-flops.
thank you for the occasional talkie video, my favourite type
Glad you enjoy it!
Thanks for the information
Another fabulous video Gio. Between you two gentlemen you guys have mentioned alot of key information. Central Cebu City ( I T Park / Ayala / Lahug ) to Mactan is a killer ... grrr. Even if your plane arrives at the " wrong " time .... its bad getting into central Cebu City. ps .... I packed 2 pair of Levi's & a dress pair of long pants .... I ONLY wore one pair of Levi's.
A friend pointed out that only significant variants get Greek letters. There are lots of variants that have designations of about 6 o 8 letters & numbers. (For some reason they haven't used the Greek letter, "Xi.")
Hello Gio, can I find : 2x shirts, 42 waist pants, an 12" shoes 👟 in the Philippines? Oh and Advils over the counter capsules.
Difficult on the shoes and pants.
Planning on next November. They should be open by then...maybe...
I am moving there next month and have been watching RUclips videos for the last 6 months and have learned so much. I have bought a back up iPhone, laptop (will have 2 laptops) I am shipping 8 or 9 balikbayan boxes. I am also shipping my 75 inch Roku TV and home computer, shipping is so much cheaper than buying there. I also upgraded my gopro from a hero 5 to hero 12. I have also renewed my passport and driver license. If you are taking medication bring as much as you can get. I am keeping my US phone number until I can figure out Skype phone. I watched Gio's video on Skype but am still leary of it. Also if you bring cash make sure that it is brand new $100 bills. The most difficult thing in my move is bringing my 2 dogs. I am having a tough time getting an import license for them as I don't have a Phillipine address. Maybe someone could give me some advise on how to overcome that.
Great value in this video
Interesting point... quick dry /wick clothing.... can you recommend a site to get some before AIA go there?
Hi Shawn. I like the shirts from Amazon made by Tuna, for $30 they are hard to beat.

I thought you couldn’t bring OTC medications through customs. I am glad you said it is ok
If you are a large person as in you wear size 14 shoes you will need to bring shoes for sure.
Paul, I wear 14. I intend to move to PH soon. Have you ever had luck ordering on Amazon? Are they available? Would shipping be too expensive? Thanks
Curious, we have packs of Panadol (paracetamol) of100 tabs and also daily asprin 100ng in packs of 180 tabs..is there going to be a limnit on what you can bring in coz these are OTC in Oz even Panadol Osteo 8hr tabs come in bulk packs..I don;t want a confrontation with a customs officer at the airport and I can't find any OFFICAL cusoms restricition apart from the obvious like firearms drugs of A and smut etc which makes sense but I don't know about OTC meds and vitamins. Prescriprion medications yeah I just bring a lteer from ym GP for my BP meds should be fine...Just don;t want to do the wrong thing pending my SRRV to ruin my character with the PRA.
Bring these with you, Tylenol any strength, Claritin 10mg, Flonase Spray, Imodium, Triple antibiotic ointment, bug spray.
Has anyone taken a large PC or 2 over to Phill's I have a heavy Corsair One it is a fluid cooled high end PC and a ASUS AIO 24" touch for the kids to learn and a Laser Printer and a Scanner I want to either ship over or use air frieght even though it iwll cost me a lot..These PC's are 3 years old but great and upgraded new SSD's and ram so should have a lasting run there..It is also a biz op for the family.
Haha. I'm always the same weight. 145 slim and trim lbs. I haven't been sick since 2019. Never get headaches. Not on any medications. Fully vaxed. I'd probably be coming for 2 or 3 months. Maybe in February or March? Sounds like I should travel light.
I’m called thin and I’m 6’8” 285. Never seen a doctor since birth. Immune to the common cold and flu. Never broke a bone. Never experienced medicine. Life is good
You said 50 Kilos as the weight limit per suitcase. Isn't it pounds? 50 Kilos is 110 pounds.

I'm coming to the Philippines January 17th. I have several consumer electronics gadgets, my CPAP, blood pressure monitor, and a couple other medical devices along with a small personal CD/DVD collection. I'm concerned about getting through customs with all that.

Any name brand you buy in Asia is a knock-off
Can you not order the Excedrin on Amazon?
Hey mate, what about vitamins? I take a lot of supplements. Can you find good quality vitamins there?
You can probably find decent vitamins in the Watson's pharmacy, however, you will pay a high price for them. You would do better finding the vitamins and minerals that you need via your food intake /diet choices.
They have GNC and a store called Healthy Options where you can get everything you need.
Why. I’ve never taking vitamins or medicine in life. Never visited a doctor. You can live without supplements
We are lucky we have already built a house there in 2007 .
