    You can look at "Factura" as the equivalent of "Invoice" a formal document for accountant and taxes purpose. "Nota" it's a simple "receipt" so you don't forget to balance your check book.😉
    When we purchased a motorcycle here in Mexico, we needed a Factura , and it was done with the generic RFC under my husband's name who is only legal permanent resident, in case he wants to sale it later.

    • @mariamar2114

      invoice is not to sell something later, invoice to deduct for your annual return, it is tax deductible

      @@mariamar2114 Thanks, but in order to be able to sale his bike, the factura needs to be with the owner's own RFC. Bit of difference here in Mexico than in the US where invoice is only for your itemized deductions.

    The factura system is a good one but it has lead to a lot of scumbaggery with people who have business licenses requesting facturas from restaurants, grocery stores, and specialty stores and saying that these expenses are business-related. My dad ran a leatherwork shop in Tijuana that made things like leather jackets, wallets, and handbags and every other week someone would come in, buy something, and request a factura.

    Buenos dias, If residency is obtained/complete, how does one go about obtaining an RFC?
    Could that RFC number be for a married couple or would each individual need their own RFC #? We will need this if improvements are made on our jointly owned property.

    • @qroo
      @qroo  3 года назад +7

      It is like a social security number so each individual would have one unless you have a business. In that case, the business would have its own RFC like an EIN in the U.S. (Employer Identification Number). I am going to do another video to show you how to apply for the RFC online. You will need to have a CURP to do that. You can also take your CURP and ID down to a tax office (run by SAT) and they can get you an RFC. I know that might sound confusing, That's why I am dedicating an entire video to the topic...lol.

      They should be identical. There are businesses that will offer a discount if you don't want a factura. That is simply tax evasion. In Mexico, all prices shown already include tax. The factura may show the amount of the total that is tax but it is not being added. A nota often does the same.
