wumblebum I always thought it was funny that Akiyama didn't really do anything while he wad over Kiryus shoulder. He was just enjoying the moment, I reckon.
I love how at 4:15 you can see Akiyama standing in the back, looking at Tanimura get the shit kicked out of his face like "Well, this is happening, who am I to stop it?"
The fact that the game makes you spend so much time with these characters before Kiryu, learning how they are each badasses in their own way, then having Kiryu fight Two of them at once, mopping the floor with them. Just that freeze frame Versus shot alone simply IS the apex of this game... Period.
I loved this part. I got chills from the epicness. You're pitted against 2 characters who you've already played before and connected with. Now you're Kiryu and you just know how powerful he is from every game so far. The part where he's holding both of them up was awesome.
to me Akiyama and Kiryu are two of the most badass characters in their own aspects. To me Akiyama reminds me of Bruce Wayne ( rich, really freaking rich and smooth) and Kiryu reminds me of Batman ( the Ultimate fighter who's name puts fear in peoples hearts if )that makes sense
Gameboynitro 9 You can fight all of them if you do the VR Machine. That Doc Brown looking mf'er with the giant machine let's you get XP by fighting virtual versions of every boss and players character (obviously with Kiryu being the final and hardest one). You can do it with every character and fight yourself as well. It's a great way to level up fully before the final mission.
You know, what makes these four characters so awesome is that they are so different to each other yet they blend so well... I love them 4 all the same, they are epic. But you can't deny it: Akiyama's flair and style is simply too boss. I luv how he's talking to Kiryu on this video... he's simply too cool for school (I personally luv his fighting pose as he begins). :P
This battle was so cool, yet so painful for me to play/watch at the same time. Just because my favorite characters were all beating the snot out of each other at the same time :P
@HybridDragons I hate to say it, but I feel the same way. The moment Akiyama's story began, I instantly became a fan of him. Something about his fighting style I just love also. Also best of luck on the Amon family. Akiyama's & Kiryu's are the best fights.
I know this comment is old as hell, but I'll reply anyway because it's you. It really bummed me when I was told he was replaced with the baseball guy because Nariyama (his actor) was caught up in a drug scandal. Turns out it was all false, but he retired anyway after all the negative reception. It's really fucking sad.
@@StreetwizeJJ2 Well, on the plus side, at least Shinada was still a charming character. And after the HD re-releases of 3, 4 & 5, there might be a chance for Tanimura to come back.
@kornypony I'm not sure, saldy. I think they only removed a small amount of moves from Kiryu (I just can't confirm which). It's been close to a year since I last played the game to remember what they changed.
This would be one of the coolest boss fights ever if they were even half as competent as they are when played by a competent player. I mean, if they fought like I fight while using them, Kiryu would be unable to do anything while Akiyama rains kicks on him and dodge cancels to keep the combo going and Tanimura puts him into ground/wall bound state constantly for fun. They were just too easy :(
@KeikunFPSPinoy I agree with Amon now. But with #3's bosses, they kinda just felt harder for me, only because of the amount of health bars they had (with the exception of Lau Ka Long, who was a bastard to fight, particularly when you experience his fight for the first time) :P But not only that, but playing a previous Yakuza game like #3, then going on to #4, you tend to be really use to the game that it makes it easier in a way. Also thanks for the video comment. :)
@1337er1337berserker I love fighting with them all. Akiyama's kicks are just FTW. (His running attack leaves you less vulnerable than other characters') Tanimura... If you don't like tanimura... Tanimura has a heat action after all his moves. Saejima is a powerhouse, playing as him feels like knocking down garden gnomes. They're pretty defenseless but it's still fucking fun. And Kiryu... Kiryu needs no explanation. If A loan shark and a detective could shoot just shoot people... Nah Mean?
@KeikunFPSPinoy Touche, heh. I actually dodged it... But double dodged back into the end of the lazer.... Took no damage though surprisingly from it. I have No. 4's Amon fight on my channel. My Kiryu fight was kinda sloppy though. I'm thinking of re-recording his fight.
I like how it Kiruy was just told he a ex-4 patriarch of dojo family tojo clan fight may not even started but hey its still good fight, and Japanese game are not about logic
Developers had to show that Kiryu is still the toughest guy in Japan. It doesn't make Akiyama and Tanimura look like pussies at all. Hell, exhausted and wounded Kiryu took out Ryuji Goda - so what, Goda is a pussy now too? But yeah, the fight itself is kinda-sorta letdown.
Man that's not at all how it went down for me. Every time I went in to attack, these pricks would alternate combos and kept me stunlocked forever. Really frustrating, especially for how cool a scene this is. Just took the wind out of my sails
Is Kiryu like the main guy in the Yakuza games and the others people are just side stories to his? I played almost all of them, but I just wanted to know is all
Yeah kinda. Though you play more than just Kiryu now such as Akiyama, Saejima and Tanimura (along with Yakuza: Dead Souls & Y5 where you play as 1-2 different characters); Kiryu will (always) be the "main"..... Unless it's a PSP game, then they focus on someone else entirely. :V Not sure if I'd say Side Story to Kiryu's, but more like they all have seperate stories that eventually link together (connections and such)..... Though maybe you could say side stories, depending on how you look at it. I dunno. D:
Iziah Bush There is no he is but he isn't. He IS because he has been in EVERY Yakuza game, the main story almost always focuses on him. Also in Yakuza 4 he has all of the fighting styles of ALL the side characters in the game.
***** Its because he is the main character, and has ALL of their fighting styles. For example Kiryu has counter moves, grabbing moves, and kicking moves. He has a MUCH larger move set, his strength rivals Taiga, His speed is fast enough to deal with Shin, and he could counter Tanimura also if he tried that crap. Don't believe me? Go unlock all his moves and then do survival mode and tell me who is the better fighter! I beat over 1000 people with Kazuma in survival mode! Just because of his diversity! He has no weaknesses at all!
Yakuza 4... I have to guiltily admit that Kiryu wasn't my favorite character in this game... Akiyama's personality was just too win. He was easily the coolest character there in my opinion. Absolutely fucking legendary gane though. I've begun completing sidestories now. I wanna fight the Amon family!!!
It would be horrible. Why the need downgrading it to SD level? And you really need to check out that Yakuza 0 review by Hyperbithero to see what i mean.
Nice game, but you clearly don't know anything about the bounding system or know how to take advantage of it. With kiryu's hammer blow combo (what you keep doing in this movie), it bounces the enemy off the ground and you CAN juggle off it. It sucks watching you blowing away all that opportunity every time because you seemed unaware of it.
I love that even while carrying Akiyama bridal-style Kiryu was able to fight off Tanimura's heat move with ONLY ONE HAND.
wumblebum

Damn kiryu is a hard ass
Cannot be defeated so easily
What a guy is him
Kiriyu is the manliest videogame protagonist I've ever seen.
He didnt break a fucking sweat lol
The way he throwed them both down was epic and DAT FINISH DOE
when I fought them I was fucking PUMPED.
This was probably one of the greatest fights in all of Yakuza
The way this scene gets intense along with the fight gives me goosebumps.

Tanimura became an instant favorite because of his counter and grappling moves. Too bad he's not in 5 :/
