Thank you for this, I had the mounting plate upside down essentially (where the bottom screw was in a hole and the top 2 had the open spot resting on them) and couldn't figure out why both ends of the rack weren't resting on the tire. All good to go now, thanks again!!
Yakima customer service told me this rack won't work with the new 2020 Land Rover Defender. But my tire is a 255 60 R20 and I watched your entire video and don't see why this would not work with my vehicle. Might you have any idea why it wouldn't? Thanks for this post.
That's a good question. I'm sure the rack will work, but the camera may be blocked. For that reason, I have my camera mounted near the hitch. Hopefully, someone with a JL can provide more details.
@@jessewayne2943 what i mean is that, if your spare tire is off-centered (like those of honda cr-v or mitsubishi pajero). there's a tendency that your bike (either your front or rear wheel) will exceed more outside (at the side of your car) when you put it on your bike rack. right? Good thing the spare tire of your car is located at the center of the back of your car.
Great review and installation! I bought an older model around 5 years ago by the same brand. It rattled too much. When driving around with this unit does it seem to rattle with loud noises?

What do you mean? The carrier will always extend through the middle of your wheel. The position of the wheel on your vehicle shouldn't matter.

@@chadbacusmo1337 I see what mean. Then yes, you would have to account for the distance that the bike will extend past the side of your vehicle.
I have a little bit if verticle play, is this normal?
The rack or the bikes? The arms bounce up and down some. I place pool noodles between the bikes.
The entire rack has a 2 inch play from where the square peg meets with the round base plate.

Thanks! The bar that holds the bikes does rattle some. I wrap a bungee around it.
Nobody shows how to mount the second bike. The first goes on fairly easy.
