@@frickinfrick8488 the thing is, the FDA isn't going to go after you until someone gets hurt. they don't have the time or the funding lol. but using those pigments would make it an open and shut case as soon as someone does, and the fines and legal fees would kill a business the size of Holo Taco. some businesses think it's worth the risk, and that's up to them, but Simply has stated before that she's not going to.
I have the Orly GITD topper, it gives a slightly frosty hue but glows well. Even under a layer of another polish the glow shines through. I like to do 2 layers of a topper sandwiched between 3 layers of GITD.
I tested all my gitd toppers for longevity one night & the winner was fancy gloss green ghost. It stayed charged for more than 2 days. Love that you tested yours for opacity. Over black and over white never thought of doing that but that’s a brilliant idea! 💡Linry’s so cleaver! ❤
I also love glow in the dark! Although, not a topper (at least I haven’t tried it as a topper), the mooncat glow in the dark polishes work amazing! I have green eyed monster on now. Every time I woke up it was glowing strong. Highly recommend.
I have both HT Glow in the Dark Taco and Cirque Banshee Better Werk (sadly no longer available). What I like about Banshee Better Werk is that although it has some opacity, the color is blue, so I sometimes layer it on purpose to make my nail polish slightly more blue-hued. It also has a blue glow instead of green, which I think is cool in the dark!
I’m on the hunt for a GITD polish that looks pretty during the day and actually GITD at night. One that has lasting GITD power. Mooncat released one called Green Eyed Monster. Halo Taco looks promising in the GITD strength and longevity but the milky formulation makes me kinda wary. I’m with you and wished more makers invest more into GITD polishes that glow brightly and lasts longer.
I only have Orly Glow Up but I just saw Nicole Loves Nails rated the new OPI I'm phosphorescent as having a strong glow. (both are green glow) Orly also had a blue glow in the dark topper that I regret not buying because blue is a more rare glow color.

Paradox Polish has a few glow in the dark toppers in different glow colours, and they get released through Little Box of Horrors, and they seem to come back regularly, not limited edition. I bought the red glow one last month and I’m excited for it.
I love glow in the dark things! Every year LA Colors puts a glow in the dark line out at Dollar Tree, usually some time in September. I have every color, including the 3 with nail art brushes. I would say they work a little better built up. Indie/boutique have superior pigment. I only own one I got from PPU.

I didn't buy the moon cat collection because I thought the gitd one looked boring when it wasn't glowing, but if it goes pretty cool at night, maybe I will reconsider the set. I just figured it would only glow for a few minutes.
I just used HT's for the first time and I absolutely love it! I was hoping it would stand out at a Halloween party but it's not very apparent just in dim lighting. Ah well it's fun for myself! I do forget until bed time too 😆
Thank you for making this comparison video! It's great to see how the pricier options compare to drugstore polishes. If you have a CVS near you, their store brand "Pop-arazzi" has a polish called Glow in the Dark that is a decent GitD - I would love to see how it compares to others (especially HoloTaco!) I believe the regular price is $3, but I generally combine sales with coupons and snag that brand for less than $1.
I got ORLY's green and teal GITD toppers but they gooped up despite being sealed and out of direct sunlight. My Sinful Colors GITD were so amazing. I stocked up one halloween and I'm glad I did. They blew all the other drug store glows out of the water. HT is the monarch glow in my collection though.
note that ht also fluoresces. Cirque would be better than the drugstore brands but significantly grainier than HT, but it is more transparent, the glow is pretty decent but not HT.
Will Mooncat Green Eyed Monster be joining the lineup in the future? I know it's not a topper but an actual GITD polish in its own right, but damn it looks pretty in the light as well as the dark. I had a Wet n Wild GITD topper over 20 years ago and it didn't glow, like at all.
HT is the best gitd polish buuuuuuut I love my limited edition moocat Nightmare before christmas my bugs my bugs ... green shimmer in the polish and boom glow in the dark goodness!

My FAVOURITE glow in the dark polishes are from Different Dimensions, who very sadly aren't open right now. They are neon polishes that also glow in the dark, but in their own respective color. Including a white polish that glows WHITE in the dark, not green!
I own a lot of gitd polishes and toppers I love them! I own Cupcake Polish, Orly, Holo Taco, Mooncat, Zombie Claw, Death Valley Nails, Paradox polish, and Cirque. None of them compare to the Holo Taco and Mooncat ones. They are made in the same lab so it makes sense that they are comparable. The glow is insane, takes no time to charge, and they aren't grainy. The other brands might have different color glows, but they are all weak and grainy in comparison to HT and Mooncat, I wouldn't recommend them. If you want another color glow, from my list, Orly is the best, but it still doesn't compare to HT and Mooncat except for the fact that they have other colors and they're better than the rest on my list.
I bought my first gitd from PPU last month, Krisable Designs | Flaming Ice?!?. It's a light blue jelly. that is supposed to glow blue. I wonder how HT would do over an off-white or pastel.

Knew HT was going to win from the thumbnail. I can also attest to it still glowing after I've gone to bed. I love it over neon green.

The glow if HT Is unmatched. In a jelly sandwich it is PERFECTION. The jelly hides the topper and it becomes a true hidden surprise

Fancy Gloss does glow toppers in various colors for I think $8 each for 15 ml.
I just got the HT and I love it so much. The formula is really smooth too.

I swear by Spellbound Nails - Ectoplasm. Super strong and long lasting glow like the HT, but much less visible tint over white or black.

Maybe I'm charging it wrong but I'm not impressed. The glow is very weak, fades in a few seconds, and looks more green than blue.
Turns out it needs to be charged with UV light/direct sunlight.
Wet n' Wild has a glow in the dark top coat but I'm not sure if they still make it. Mine is from a few years ago 😅

China Glaze has a glow in the dark topper but in comparison to Holo Taco’s it’s pretty bad so I don’t actually recommend it 🤣
