Ugh I cannot stand it when people do not clean up afterwards. These are the folks that make it harder for others that do follow the rules. What you pack in, pack out peeps! Thanks for all the reminders Lady Bugout! ❤️
@@LadyBugout NOT just CA - anywhere! Utah has closed some camp areas of BLM cause of the lazy jerks that trashed the place. ALSO another BIG problem is those that just drive off trail thinking they can drive anywhere. They get stuck and kill native plants.
Im always so disheartened when people are either inconsiderate/irresponsible in how they treat other humans, animals and/or the environment. Rules are sometimes inconvenient, but they are always established for a reason. I find common sense, for those who actually have some, goes a long way.
I love it! I don’t know how many people have commented on my video who didn’t understand any of these concepts. Or thought automatically that nomads were terrible people because they must be doing terrible things to the land. I hope that all of the people who have been negative see this video and can learn about responsible nomad life. You are amazing!
It's surprising this even needs to be explained. It's all common sense. I appreciate you taking the time to make the video as a reminder to all to simply be responsible, respectful and use sense. Thanks
Preaching to the choir... ? lol 🤣 what matters is to be determined by each individuals personal choices selected ? Does this stand the acid test of questions thrown at it ?
So good, Dee! We have had many problems here in Oregon with folks who overstay the limits and ruin the landscape around them. Some places that were previously beautiful dispersed areas, the USFS has now blocked them off where no one can use them again. It makes me sad. Leave no trace ethics are there for all creatures great and small.
Just treat others like you want to be treated, and don't be an ass. Leave the environment like you found it or better. I can live with that. Thanks Dee, have a great day.
I found that keeping my rig clean, especially the windows and to not have anything up in the driver's area was key to being left alone! I always keep gloves and trash bags to pick up in the area that I am in! 💜
One more tip for folks with small amounts of gray water--if you're sitting still and it's a dry area, you can evaporate your gray water, which is less impactful than dumping or dispersing it. Obviously don't put your container where animals might be attracted to it, but it's an option. And evaporation can be good for longer stays when trying to reduce wet trash like coffee grounds. Spread them in a shallow bowl or on a plate to dry out (at least partway!), and they're easier to pack out. Happy travels!
We had a "peace camp" at skooliepalooza but there was one camp (located in that area) that did not care and told us they could do whatever they want on the BLM land (when we asked them to keep it down or move to the "party camp" at 1am). Hopefully those people watch this video because you are right, there ARE rules..even on BLM land...even during events like this! Sadly, however, some people have no respect for others, regardless of the rules.
Sorry you had to deal with that. Yeah…I heard some other similar things and just thought I’d try to get the word out in some way. I know those on my channel are probably not the ones who need to hear though! 😝
Hi Dee! I have a friend who gifted me my van who wants to do part time van life, so this will be a good video for him, i learned something new too, like about fire ring to disperse rock s after! thanks for your efforts doing the videos!! Ciao
Sensitivity ? When there's so much being taught on it's all about me generation ? And less about personal responsibility of choice selection knowing each choice has it's own outcome
I appreciate this video. This year BLM in Chaffee County near Salida, Colorado (very popular summer boondocking location) issued a land use survey which considers tighter management of those lands, including possible road closures and limiting or permitting camping. Also, I would add regarding biodegradable products even in small amounts being ok to pour out. You are still introducing elements not found naturally in that area and that practice is discouraged by Leave No Trace standards. All other points you mention are well said and much appreciated. 🙏
I appreciate your comments about gray water. Even Dr. Bronner's can throw a sensitive ecosystem off. I have seen tp strewn under trees and bushes, folks dumping black tanks into pit toilets, and creeks, and have been behind someone who's black tank was draining on the freeway and spraying my car with human waste!! I believe this is why our public lands are becoming more restrictive. Good reminders! ✌️❤️
I agree with you 💯 %. So many campers ignore common courtesy and the environment. I cannot believe people are allowed to shoot on blm. I also pick up trash… it breaks my heart that people just choose to do whatever they want and think nothing of the effects 😢 thank you, Dee. I saw a few YTers being very nasty about having to move and saying things not nice about the authorities… it was disheartening to hear them and read the disrespectful comments. You said it all and I thank you so much🙏
I grew up in a very large family so the only vacations we took were camping. We were taught leave no trace lessons from as early as I can remember. Great info and reminders that we all need to do our part to keep public lands open by adhering to the leave no trace principles and to be mindful of each other’s space and need for quiet hours.
Wow. If more people in the world (regardless of lifestyle) shared Dee's attitude/approach/philosophy it'd be a more healthier world. Thanks for the upload x xxxx x
Thank you for putting out this video. Everyone needs to take responsibility as you say. It is vitally important because at some point laws may change and we will lose places to stay. I cringe every time I see a video with a byline of “free camping” Or “live rent free” etc. just the idea of living like that has increased the numbers of people traveling and living in their vehicles or trailers. Sooner or later if we keep widely advertising this, the authorities may come up with law changes that affords them the ability to charge or limit your access to public lands. Please tone it down, tread quietly, leave no tracks, no sign that you’ve been there. Respect this planet that we are the stewards of.
Personal space is always important! I can't wait to get on the road we got hit with a large winter storm so it may delay my trip for a week or so. Next winter I'm looking forward to getting to the desert, I've never actually gotten to stay in the desert! Thank you for the tips!
Very important tips Dee! Rules are there for a reason, let's all be mindful of them and respect them no matter which part of the world we are camping/vanlife ✌️
Fantastic tips! I don’t get why so many people don’t seem to understand these basic common courtesies to others and to the areas where they stay. Thank you for including respect for the creatures. ❤️
All great tips. You had the perfect coffee spot. It really all comes down to respecting others, respecting the land and doing your part. If only everyone thought the way we did. LOL... Safe travels.
Loved all your comments on boondocking. Although we are our van "Roadloft" we are not full timers we always have the moto " leave the space better than when you got there" . What comes in comes out. Hate to see the woods with juice cartons etc....if you are able to carry it in, carry it out...it's lighter lol. Thank you, love watching your videos, you have a nice set-up. Happy trails.
As another poster said "they go out to such a place to enjoy peace etc," to me a GROUP is a dead giveaway for potential issues like you mention, if I'm going to the expense & trouble to go to such a place I DON'T want to deal with why I left a more crowded area, exactly WHY I moved 15 miles from even a little town
Thank you. That means a lot. I don’t ever want to come across as harsh or blaming…it is just sad to me when I see needless stress or harm happening.🐞🚗🐞
Good tips, Dee. A few thoughts: - check with ranger stations when open to get a feel for the lay of the land and any restrictions to be observed. I sometimes get tipped as to infrequently used locations few people are aware of, however that rangers patrol and are ok for camping on. Being the eyes and ears on the ground can help create or improve relations with the rangers, especially if you spot small issues that have the potential to be big ones later on. Rural police stations are another good source. - country churches. Worth contacting the responsible parish to see if you can get permission to camp overnight as some have infrequent use and are susceptible to vandalism and burglary. You act as eyes and ears if there are any issues. Also cool to see their church services and church lunches. Worth giving a few dollars at the collection plate if you have received good help. - ranches and farms. Some farms and ranches have free camping sites available. They may also have seasonal fresh produce available through farm stores. Check ahead to see availability and campsite rules. - layaways for truckers maintained by states or provinces. Good for vanlifers for overnight stays. Also a good source of road information from truckers who have come from the direction you’re travelling towards. - biodegradable soap - I like a product called Camp Suds. Good for washing yourself up and works well for dishes also. Get a small bottle to trial it and scale up to a bulk bottle if you like it. Thank you!
Thanks again for your tips about respect. Just saw a video from another van RUclipsr Valentine’s Day and she openly speaks about using her neighbor’s pit while they’re not there ( just random campers not her friends) and she got firewood! After that previous comment I wonder if she stole the firewood to cook hot dogs. Wow and just wow. Like you mentioned, respect is the key.
Really great tips, Dee! I love how you pointed out about being respectful of the environment and how long the plants take to grow. I don't think a lot of people think about that. That was really great of you to clean up that trash. People really should always pick up after themselves. Great video!
Wow this was one of the best informative videos Ive seen on van life in all the many years Ive been researching the lifestyle. Noone has ever touched on these subjects. Not that Ive ever come across before you. So thankyou! Until recently, Ive been contemplating it myself. Please kindly do more videos like this - more inside scoop! More perhaps about the little creatures youve run into on your journeys and perhaps also more life hacks? Please also kindly provide a link or a description for that box thingy that you used for your toilet from ikea? How can i find it? What actually is it ? Im needing one! Lol 🤣 😹

Love your philosophy about being considerate of others and caring for the land. I hope I get to meet you on the road sometime. (When I get brave enough to venture out of oklahoma 😊)
Dee, thank you for explaining these great tips, in such a friendly tone of voice without judging others. The music was soothing and your pleasant tone helped me pay attention to everything word that you said. I particularly enjoyed how you suggested that we respect everyone who is camping, the land, the wildlife, and the Park Rangers. I have been caring for a friends sick cat, who is finally coming around, and haven't slept in close to 36 hours. Your video with such a kind and gentle presentation just put me in a relaxed and peaceful state of mind. I live in Ontario, Canada and love your videos. Thank you for cleaning up after others as well. Have a great day!!!!! Awesome tips!
Thank you for these tips!! I'm sorry you have to say them and that not everyone follows them. But I didn't know about removing the fire ring when you leave! That's good to know!! Thank you!
Wow, I cannot believe the amount of discarded weapon shells! Thanks so much for helping keep the environment clean by picking up all that garbage. BTW, I am a Firearms instructor and all "brass" shells are worth a lot of money to reloaders...people who make their own bullets. Brass shoots much cleaner through a barrel vs steel, etc. There are folks who would pay big money for those because the cost of brass cased bullets are quadrupled from 5 years ago...just a heads up!!! Great vid👍
I do enjoy your videos so much. You are such a genteel lady and very well spoken. Love your outlook on life and the respect you show to others. Keep posting you travels and I will, keep watching.
Well said Dee👍🏽 Thank you for the info for some, and a tactful reminder for others. If we all remember to live and let live, and that sentient beings want, and have a right to a happy existence. Safe travels.
1: Be quiet. Show courtesy for others.. 2: Social space. Be respectful of others privacy, wave and see if they are inviting you in.. 3: Be respectful of the environment. Don't harm plants and such. 4: Store/ bring your garbage with you to a proper dump station. 5: Pick up litter. 6: Grey water, be aware of the amount and what's in it. 7: Remove traces of your stay. Dispurse rock and ashes from the fireplace. 8: Respect the people who work with looking after national parks and such. Rangers and others. 9: Check out what stay limits there are in the area. 10: Respects wildlife..
Great video on common sense tips that are always good to go over and most things do boil down to respect. Respect of our environment, others, and all creatures big and small including lady bugs :)
They are all great tips and reasonable. Unfortunately not everyone follows them leaving a mess for others to clean up...been there done that numerous times. I carry extra 55gl trash bags, a pick up stick and nitrile gloves. Here in San Diego's harbor areas the seagulls are the culprits who rummage through the trash and pull out containers with food products. LNT should be a responsibility for all of us. Thanks for presenting this, Dee.
Thank you Dee. Great information. I hope everyone will be responsible and keep our land beautiful. I am new to camping and rving and I learned a few things.
Dee…Your choice of background music…particularly with great piano (reminds me of the deeply “American” chords of Randy and Thomas Newman..)is well done. It really does add so much to the texture of what you are creating and sharing. Nicely done I think! Thank you.
Hi Dee love the scenery and very very valid comments on stay on public land, wow a lot of campers rv's etc loved the hair so shiny long and flowing, stunning wow Core.....best wishes Ken xxx
Excellent tips! Thanks for sharing them. It seems I always have to do clean up of someone else's litter every time I go camping these days. Makes me sad. Safe travels to you.

Thank you for these tips!! I'm sorry you have to say them and that not everyone follows them. But I didn't know about removing the fire ring when you leave! That's good to know!! Thank you!
You are welcome Cheryl! 😊
Great vid👍
Good to know!!!🤗
I do enjoy your videos so much. You are such a genteel lady and very well spoken. Love your outlook on life and the respect you show to others. Keep posting you travels and I will, keep watching.
Thank you Linda. I appreciate that more than you know☺️

Hey Peter! Yay, I will keep my eyes peeled for a maroon minivan with a confused driver😂
Great video on common sense tips that are always good to go over and most things do boil down to respect. Respect of our environment, others, and all creatures big and small including lady bugs :)
Thank you! Yes🐞🐞🐞
Thanks for the great tips Dee!
You’re welcome!🐞☺️🐞
You're so right. Great advice.
Thank you Linda🐞🚗💃🏻
They are all great tips and reasonable. Unfortunately not everyone follows them leaving a mess for others to clean up...been there done that numerous times. I carry extra 55gl trash bags, a pick up stick and nitrile gloves. Here in San Diego's harbor areas the seagulls are the culprits who rummage through the trash and pull out containers with food products. LNT should be a responsibility for all of us. Thanks for presenting this, Dee.
You are welcome! I’m hoping this serves as a reminder☺️
A perfect and much needed vlog for everyone to learn from! Still looking gorgeous in the dessert - you should do a vlog on that!!! Ha. Stay well!!
😂 you are too kind🐞🚗❤️

Very well said. I totally agree. It’s not that hard to be considerate towards nature, other people etc.
Yes, thank you Mary!🐞🚗💃🏻
Dee…Your choice of background music…particularly with great piano (reminds me of the deeply “American” chords of Randy and Thomas Newman..)is well done. It really does add so much to the texture of what you are creating and sharing. Nicely done I think! Thank you.
I’m so glad you enjoy it.
