Just got the new Lighthouse Charts/North America - but the Raymarine Live sessions "hint" to release of a New Jersey specific chart or did I hear wrong? When's the expected release? Any recommendation for the back-bay/inshore NJ fisherman for charts?
Hi Eric. The LightHouse charts map card for North America are all on one chip, available now. It includes all of the United States, Canada and western Bahamas. Your local Raymarine dealer can get them for you. The LightHouse charts do have a built-in bathymetric chart with detailed depth contour information and local fishing areas-of-intelligence provided by Fishing HotSpots. They are pretty good. The Navionics product is also very solid in your area too.
Once you download a premium chart to your SD card can you continue to use it, or does it stop working or reduce functionality after the year of premium expires?
Hi Dan. The navigation charts on your card are yours forever. After your premium subscription expires you won't be able to update them unless you renew. The Premium satellite photos, POIs and street information will stop displaying once your subscription expires.
I'm still trying to choose a brand. He owns a troubled novice selling yacht. I've been watching Reymarine's various broadcasts. A very rudimentary question that makes you wonder while looking at it. I want to do it. If you look at the map of the MFD, There's always a map fixed north. The icon of the ship I'm on is moving. I'm familiar with the navigation screen installed in the car. It's hard for me to understand the chart at once. The navigation of the car says that the car-shaped icon is the same. It's fixed and the map moves. The shape of the actual road and the map on the screen. It's the same. ( stereoscopic 3D maps are no longer a new technology. ) by the way Raymarine and the other models, The style of the map fixed northward does not change. like a car The ship's icon is fixed and the map is moving. Is it impossible to style...?
The navigation system in most cars is what they call Head-Up and Relative Motion. The Raymarine system can display that too. In the Chartplotter app touch Menu....Settings....View and Motion. You will see settings there for Chart Orientation (choose Head Up) and Motion Mode (choose Relative Motion.) Your chartplotter will now track with the boat in the center, stationary. The map will move underneath it. The boat icon will alway be moving towards the top of the chart display and the map will rotate underneath as you change course.
Hi Jim, Here' a non-fishing question. What equipment is required to operate an Axiom MFD as a computer mirroring an Apple computer, with a keyboard and mouse?
Hi Richard. You'll need to use one of our Axiom XL displays to do this. Axiom XL units feature HDMI input so can display the video from an external computer. They also have touchscreen pass-back, so you could actually touch control your Mac from Axiom. If you want to use a keyboard and mouse you'll use a wireless or Bluetooth setup with the receiver connected to the Mac (not to Axiom.)
Just bought and installed Lighthouse charts on my Axiom 9. I am very disappointed that my "Fishing" chart has far less detail compared to the "Navigation" chart setting (which has 20 ft. contours). I did download the latest POI and GPS land details. Have some lakes not been thoroughly been mapped with detailed sonar with this new product? Specifically, Lake Berryessa, Napa County, California. I have tried every setting that I can think of but I must be missing something. The "Fishing" setting is essentially unusable without more detail. I've watched this video three times to try to gain some resolution to the problem but nothing seems to make a difference. Need guidance please.
Hi Gary. Let me check with our Cartography team to see what we have there. The "Fishing" mode takes advantage of high-resolution bathymetry where it is available, but its not available in all locations. Do double-check this setting. In the chart app to go to Menu....Settings....Depths. Next to "Show Soundings" and "Show Contours" make sure those are set to "All." When you have a moment please send me an email to james.mcgowan@Raymarine.com so I can get back to you.
Hi Nick. Your transducer is probably losing signal from turbulence or cavitation created by the increased water flow over the hull. The key to getting a reliable depth reading at speed is keeping the transducer in clean water flow. If you have a transom mount transducer you can make minor adjustments to the tranducer's depth on the transducer, and its tilt angle. Sometimes a small adjustment can make a huge difference. If you have through hull transducers, fixing them post-installation is much more of a challenge. Through hulls need to be installed so they are not in-line and aft of other through hull fittings (as they create turbulent flow and air bubbles that wash over the transducer's face.) They need to be far enough aft on the hull that they remain in the water even when the boat is running at planing speed. Generally this is about 2/3 of the length of the hull from the bow. If the boat has lifting strakes, tunnels, steps, etc. consideration has to be given to the kinds of turbulence these structures create and the transducers placed to avoid them. If you can, take a bunch of pictures of your transducer so we can see where it is on your hull. Also snap a few shots of your fishfinder screen underway. If possible, let us see the Speed Over Ground (SOG) databox at the same time. That allows us to see the level of turbulence on the screen vs. boat speed. Open a ticket over at raymarine.custhelp.com with the photos and our sonar team can make suggestions for adjustments.
Really helpful stuff. You have a great way of explaining; not too simple or complicated. Thank you1
Thank you for watching, Tom!
Thanks again Jim I appreciate all the effort
Thank you for watching!

Oh, and how and where do I access your Facebook channel? Typing in "Raymarine" in search just brings up people with weird names.
We're at: facebook.com/Raymarine

When traveling at somewhat faster speeds my depth stops being displayed, is there anyway to stop that from happening?
