  • This 1970 Chevelle SS454 LS6 was tracked from a couple other storage locations to its new resting spot just outside of St. Louis, MO. The car has been off the streets since the mid 1980s. It's fully documented with buildsheet and protecto plate with original engine, trans, rear axle, and features the epic Code 75 Cranberry Red exterior.

      Back in the 90's I went to a super chevy meet. Hundreds and hundreds of of Chevrolet. Parked among the big block after big block after big block Chevelles was a gold 1970 inline 6. Not sure the transmission type. It was a 2door base model with cloth interior and front bench. This car was 99% perfect. Right down to stickers and tags. It was getting more attention than the other chevelles. People loved it because it was a great example of a regular everyday car. I geeked out on it and loved it. The owner was surprised at all the attention. He ended up winning best in class and all the big block guys were incredulous. It's a car show after all and it was the best chevelle of all of them. Truly a treat to see. Most ended up in the crusher.

    Amazing. A lot of younger people don't realize that when we were teens we could buy these cars or these types of cars for a few thousand dollars. I had three people on my street that drove to high school 1. 69 Z28 2. 1969 GTO in grabber red (orange) yes, with the flexible nose 3. 1970 Chevelle SS 454. And people modified most of them because the idea was a holly was faster than a stock carb, etc. etc. All three didn't have stock engines, block yes, add on parts no. They were cars then, not legends. And of course most teens wanted to make them faster. So to find these things unmolested really is pretty amazing.

      I like hearing the History of the time. I grew up in that time period and i can validate your post, just so the other people reading it can get the right facts, history and 'feel' for the time. No doubt it was the greatest time for muscle cars and thats what we wanted then. Even though the poor young guys had no way of buying a new Chevelle when they are 16-18 or so. I wanted one but just had to settle for less. That fulfillment still haunts me and thats why i look at videos like this, i guess. I'm happy for the guys who get to fulfill that desire, for sure. Maybe the man who owns this Chevelle fills that bill. It would be cool to hear him in this comment section talk about the progress he's made and what all are his plans for it. Remember, this is a rare survivor car and needs respected for what it is. This car is a highlight of muscle cars. The pinacle of them. Top dog!

In 1970 Chevrolet engine option codes for the 454 Cubic Inch Big Block was LS5 and LS6... Either one is worth more then a truck load of new "LS" Style engines.. Geez!

    It is exactly where id expect to find it... A garage in the burbs....same as 90% of chevelles today. In a garage and the guy pokes around on it once a month when he finds the time. 10yrs later, he finally finishes it. Drives is 10 yrs, goes to old folks home, and it disappears for another 20 yrs.......its just the circle of life for a car. A models are now on their 4th round, chevelles are just beginning the 3rd round.

Had it repainted, engine rebuilt ,new exhaust,tires, Carter 4 barrel from Summit Racing. Ran the balls off it until marriage. It was parked again in 95 after a divorce, and its still there - in a nice dry suburban garage. I was just informed 2 weeks ago of its forthcoming resto. I have a 1970 code 12 bolt code crw 331 gear I was told to contact you about it. It's in a 70 Monte Carlo SS 454 I'm restoring... But if it's rare I might sell.

    I dunno if nothing can top it, you never drove a 442 455ci... oh boy, so underrated more like 500hp with 550 trq

    • @cali2468
      @cali2468 2 года назад

      455 Rocket was impressive no doubt but the LS6 made more horsepower, specifically in the mid and upper rpm compared to a 455 and thus was faster in the quarter-mile.

    I get bummed out seeing these cars all parked and not running and driving. It's like having a unicorn and then chopping its legs off.

    It's to bad these 70' LS-6, car's received all the love,,,, when in reality the 70' stage-1 buick was much quicker in the quarter mile,, I KNOW BECAUSE I OWN ONE, AND I HAVE NEVER BEEN BEAT BY A 70' LS6,,, BUICKS,, FAST WITH CLASS....

    I don't understand all the people saying he sounds like Matthew McConaughey -- there's some mild similarities but in my opinion they sound nothing alike other than both of them having a southern accent.

    Hi Patrick, Something very unusual with this car is the pairing of the 2.20 first gear M22 with 3.31 ratio axle, an almost undrivable combination. Never seen an M22 pairing with any gear numerically lower than a 3.73. Have you ever seen this combination before? Is the standard axle gear with an M22 a 3.73? All M22s are 2.20, yes? M20 is the standard 4 speed with all LS6s unless optioned differently, yes?
    Thanks again for all valuable info, always learning through your vids..... Steve

    It would be pretty hard for me not to restore this one. Unfortunately, doing it the right way would take big money and time. Do you ever post updates on some of your videos for cars that have been saved or restored?

  • @charlieb308
    @charlieb308 6 лет назад +3

    He would sell it for 50 grand then you spend 70 grand restoring it. This guy will never restore it, he certainly didn’t take care of it.
