I enjoy your videos… bringing back memories when I used to live there in the late 1970,s to late 1980,s Thank you for sharing and showing the progress this great country has made
The Bourda Cricket Ground, also known simply as Bourda, is not a private facility. It is a public cricket ground located in Georgetown, Guyana. It is owned and operated by the Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC), one of the oldest cricket clubs in the Caribbean. While it is maintained by the GCC, the ground is primarily used for public and international cricket matches, including West Indies Test matches, One Day Internationals, and domestic games. The venue has historical significance, hosting many notable international games over the years.
Raphael, I always enjoy your video exposé. Mr. Yearwood is a meticulous gentleman about protocol. The other encounter with that officious fucker is just part of maneuvering in G/town.
What protocol? Stop making excuses for this a-hole. He, probably, identifies himself as belonging to the elite class and uppity class in Guyana. He, probably, felt superior.
Thanks Raphael. It looks a bit like one of my old churches....Calvary Lutheran Church. But I knew it wasn't because that one is at North and Alexander streets.
Raphael, Johnathan is going to give you good publicity. This dude just missed a chance to promote GCC Bourda and to give us a history of this once famous ground and what plans they have for this icon property. 😢
Hey Raph, Thanks as usual, for keeping us informed and up to date with with the happenings in and around Georgetown. Great job! This is prime real estate. Since there is obviously no "real" revenue stream, there structure are slowly deteriorating. Are you aware of any future plans for this iconic facility.
Hi Raphael.....Beautiful video....but I tell you those two men with their do not take pictures private property is unacceptable....you are giving them free publicity....I am glad you stood your ground....thank you for these videos....
Hello Raphael, I'm the person that asked about Bourda Cricket Ground. Sorry you had to experience such a rude encounter. There had to be a better way for that pugnatious guy telling you to leave! Thanks again and may God bless you.
This man behavior is perfect example of how Guyanese people behave. Anytime they belong to or are associated with something they start to behave as though they are the boss or are in charge. That's is common Guyanese trait that you see display by Guyanese throughout Guyana. And it is way that they talk to you, they love to refer to you as "hello" "hello" "hello". Don't let a Guyanese be guard at a government building or be a member of a club or anything because all of a sudden they head swell up big and they behave like if own the place or are the boss, loud and in charge.
He is right and is doing his job. With an explanation and apology, he probably would have let you complete your video of Bourda cricket grounds.....I think. Not really an impressive place, but very famous and historic. Saw a few very funny videos with Alvin Kallicharan telling stories of the glory days of Guyanese and WI cricket.
He is incorrect. The Bourda cricket ground is not someone’s house. It is part of the city of Georgetown and open to the public. Until recently it was derelict and in disrepair. The cricket club occupies part of the premises. If you accept his illogical reasoning then you are just as crazy as he is.
@RaphaelNation Regardkess, i think that there are rules and protoculs for entering and taking videos of city owned or other properties. If you can explain that you are promoting Guyana as a tourist destination and featuring its rich historic sites, then you will be welcomed I think. I am not critical of your work in a negative way, just offering my observations and some advice. I can advise to tone down the rhetoric but it will probably be taken the wrong way.
@tyronelowe7090 the issues is where the boundaries lie. The cricket ground is not somesones living room. It is a venue that the public has paid or free access to when there are games being played. It is not like entering someone’s home. So those rules do not apply. People are always trying to claim more authority or control over public spaces than they are entitled to. It is a natural human tendency that must always be resisted. The cricket club occupies a part of the premises. If I wanted to host a birthday party in the stands then for that I need permission. However to walk in the gate and take a video I do not need permission. Otherwise there would be a No Trespassing sign.
You lucky Jonathan Yearwood, who is the president of the Georgetown Cricket Club, didn't put a slap in yuh like he drop pon Carol Joseph! You mean to tell me Mr. E-con-o-miss that you know more about who can access the property than the president of the club?
Has anyone ever thought about introducing the game of Baseball to Guyana? Sometimes it's not what you say but how. If it is a Private entity put security at the gate or signs indicating such.
I find hard to believe that the Bourda Cricket Ground is a private property. Are you telling me that the Guyanese taxpayers money are not being spent maintaining that ground and facilities or on that ground for anything else. Does anybody have the facts or information on this issue.
There is a big sign right in front of the Georgetown Cricket Club that plainly, clearly, and informatively states that the club is for members only! The so-called "economist" and owner of 22 businesses does not know how to read? He also stepping onto private property at the Best Western Hotel! Mr. Economist, please respect private property rights in Guyana - this is not Long Island New York where you use to doing anything you want!
@@RaphaelNation, you're 100% correct. Anyone can walk in and ask for membership. Guyanese don't know their rights. You correct to ignore them. 😆 🤣 😂 😹 😆
I mentioned this a few weeks ago, Guyanese drivers particularly aren’t courteous, they need to be, it’s all madness driving in Guyana, come on people, is that the way you’re going to be welcoming and friendly?
That’s Guyana today, in the US you do what the hell you want, some places you can’t video or take pics, but otherwise the people aren’t that rude like Guyanese….
Jonathan is a bit crazy. The Bourda cricket ground is part of the city of Georgetown. It is not a living room in someone’s house as he suggested. The cricket club occupies part of a building which is located in the Bourda cricket ground. If he want to dispute that then he can take me to court.
Glad to see the inside of GCC. Sorry there are no trees outside anymore. Guys used to be able to see games for free from the branches of those trees.. Sometimes the branches used to break during the match. Never heard of any injuries though. Lots of memories. Maybe the club is the venue for games in the local league. The property still appears to be well maintained though.
It was recently repaired and cleaned up. For many years it was deteriorating and the grounds were overgrown with weeds and grass. I don’t know if the government or the mayor and city council paid for the renovations but the cricket club had left the stands to rot and the ground seemed abandoned until recently.
Everything in this video looks nice and clean. It's a lovely area. Too bad you had to take verbal abuse from that guy.😮 I was wondering which church that was.

They should be happy you're giving them free advertisement 😊
You handle that situation well. Nice video

We should ask Jonathan. But I suspect he has no idea himself.

No problem. No harm done.
Tough day at the office. Be safe

Thanks for this wonderful video.i often wonder about the state of the ground.
Agreed!
Where and how can we find out the rates for the various hotels in guyana?
The rates are available online at the website of each hotel.
You lucky Jonathan Yearwood, who is the president of the Georgetown Cricket Club, didn't put a slap in yuh like he drop pon Carol Joseph! You mean to tell me Mr. E-con-o-miss that you know more about who can access the property than the president of the club?
Jonathan is a well known troubled some person in Guyana. He believes he owns the country.
You showcasing the country and everybody on edge. Next they will stop you from videoing the trench😂😂😂😂😂
Has anyone ever thought about introducing the game of Baseball to Guyana?
Sometimes it's not what you say but how. If it is a Private entity put security at the gate or signs indicating such.
This ground could be used for baseball ⚾️ since cricket is not played here anymore.
Needs a walk way.
Who is the owner of the property? I thought the facility was built by the honorable LFSB to host cricket in the country?
I find hard to believe that the Bourda Cricket Ground is a private property. Are you telling me that the Guyanese taxpayers money are not being spent maintaining that ground and facilities or on that ground for anything else. Does anybody have the facts or information on this issue.
This video is called excuse me sir hello hello. Lol good video raphel

I like when people speak the truth, I don’t care about political preference, it gets no one nowhere.

Yes.

The Cricket ground and parking lot men remind me of what transpired b4 this scene.
O 10:11
Hello hello sir sir you have no rights in Guyana especially walking on the sidewalk 😂😂😂😂😂😂
It’s public property they don’t want people to see it.
yu didnt beat up on the govt today...
This is not a political channel. Political fanatics of the government can’t understand that because they have cognitive disabilities.
what private about the cricket ground? I thought it belongs to the Guyanese ppl

@@RaphaelNationMaybe a good venue for high school cricket. Also, can be used for women’s international cricket. Should not be discarded, I think.

Trespassing again
That behavior is autism. Lots of undiagnosed autistic people around.
This is private property, permission is required to video the property! 😂😂😂😂
Yu need to get permission before highlighting any private property
If that is true then there should be a No Trespassing sign. There is no such sign.
