      It’s possible. But they seem about the same, although they are all sharp edge to edge on the 14 Pro series phones. Seems the telephotos are giving all lens brands some issues.

    What value do you set your bitrate when exporting 4K videos ? I'm not sure but your videos look a little soft on my screen, and I can't see the details and the full potential of the lenses and of Blackmagic + ProRes. I know this video was shot with FiLMiC Pro, but from what I've heard, wasn't Blackmagic + ProRes the way to go compared to FiLMiC in terms of detail and bitrate ? (please do correct me if I'm wrong) I also got that impression even on your other recent videos shot with Blackmagic and ProRes. Could you enlighten me please ? Thank you 😊

    • @iphoneographers
      @iphoneographers  7 месяцев назад +1

      I typically use the recommended 50Mbps. But RUclips definitely compresses the video. There’s no bitrate difference shooting with Filmic Pro or Blackmagic if shooting ProRes. If shooting HEVC or H.264 you can choose the rate and I almost always go with the highest.

    • @tuanofakind
      @tuanofakind 7 месяцев назад

      @@iphoneographers Thank you for your response. Do you think RUclips made their compression more agressive more or less recently or has it always been that bad ? I'm only starting to notice it recently even on 4K videos (it's been bad for 1080p vids already for quite a long time)

  • @ThomasBrunkard
    @ThomasBrunkard 7 месяцев назад

    Blake, I hope when you do the inevitable comparison of cages for iPhone 15 Pro series that you absolutely nail some of these manufacturers to a figurative cross for their diversity of mount standards both for lenses and filters.
    I got the Smallrig cage which comes with an M Mount backplate - a defunct fitting for lenses but for filters I sprung for their 67mm adapter - which is only for magnetic filters.
    Of course, there are no such filters to be bought anywhere and adapting one of the many filters I have accrued over the years to be magnetised is not simple either. Indeed, their whole system is designed to lock you in to their own brand filters which are practically unobtainable.
    If you're doing that round up, props are certainly due to Ulanzi who ship with a 67mm filter filter adapter (but just a 17mm lens adapter). It's a better solution by far I think and I'll have one on Monday.
    Ultimately based on this and diversity of mounts it looks like Beastgrip will win this year in the Cage Wars as they've got everything covered.
    Rant ends.

    • @iphoneographers
      @iphoneographers  7 месяцев назад +1

      Yeah it can be frustrating for sure! The Moondog Labs multi camera filter mount work with M mount, so that’s an option I use on cages to add tradition ND.

    • @iphoneographers
      @iphoneographers  6 месяцев назад

      Are you seeing a vignette? Dark edges/corners? Make sure you’re putting the lens on the main camera and then also use a third-party app like Blackmagic so you can force the phone to use that camera. The native camera app can auto switch and combine the cameras while shooting (and go into Macro mode too) and you’ll see the edges of the external lens.

My Progrip order placed in November has shipped, but has been stuck in Los Angeles for the past several days. My lens order placed on December 1 hasn’t even been fulfilled yet.
