BYU vs. Notre Dame: 1981 Sweet 16 | FULL GAME

BYU and former Boston Celtic Danny Ainge drove the length of the court past numerous Notre Dame players. Catching the inbound pass, Ainge weaved his way down the court and through the Irish defense to lay the ball in with just two seconds remaining. BYU advanced to the Elite Eight for the first time in program history with the 51-50 win in this 1981 Sweet 16.

Notre Dame’s Joe Kleine transferred to Arkansas after the season and was a member of the Gold Medal winning USA team at the 1984 Summer Olympics. Kleine then played 15 seasons in the NBA, winning the title as a member of the 1998 Bulls.
