@@dcd05 originally it was just chocolate cake made from pure cocoa, it had a slight red hue to it. Over the yeras some people have tweaked the recipe and some use cocao and coloring and others use just coloring.
It sounds like a combo that could definitely work for a dessert… but maybe not this particular dessert. Something more in the pudding department, or even a cookie.

There’s a local donut shop that does maple bacon donuts and they are actually so good. Maple donuts are my favorite and there’s a perfectly cooked thin crispy bacon on top. Honestly the best donut I’ve ever had.

Bacon maple is pretty normal as a seasonal flavor (I sweat I used to see it everywhere back in the mid 2010s) but normally it's candied bacon pieces instead of just slapping a slice on there.

Maple bacon bars can be ok IF they actually COOK the bacon and cut it up and use it as sprinkles…laying it on there in one big slap usually ends up in a halfway cooked soft bacon 🤢

But she’s from Germany and here I’ve never seen something like this. We don’t really put savory things on donuts. Maybe nuts, but bacon really sounds super weird to me.
Bacon maple is pretty normal as a seasonal flavor (I sweat I used to see it everywhere back in the mid 2010s) but normally it's candied bacon pieces instead of just slapping a slice on there.

I couldn't believe people waited in line for a bacon maple bar. Not only can you make that yourself but it separates the people that mix sweet and savory and people that would rather not have cake with pork products.
