As someone who owns an online website that sells Pokemon and other products, this is a very good video. It's not as easy as people make it out to be, the market is shallow in terms of buyers, and if you do want to run your own site building trust is incredibly hard early on. Not only that, but low prices aren't enough to get attention these days, even if you're reasonably bellow the rest of the market.
@@pokemon_classics Very much so, and the upfront work can be very high, but the amount of bad actors on the sell side make it important for buyers to have low trust of sellers.
Ive been selling on ebay for almost 3 years now and i could not have said it better. Im definitely seeing that more in more over the last 4 - 6 months especially the last 90 days. Also great vid PC
found you the other day and now I'm binge-watching your vids, I love the impartial view you present to just give us the facts, no bullshit with you just straight information, facts and always something to take away from the video and think about for the future. Keep it up man definitely one of the most informative and pleasant channels I've discovered
Thanks for the kind words and feedback. I've been collecting since 1999, so it's a long-standing passion of mine. I'm not interested in the drama and hope I don't represent myself as anything more than I am . . . just a fellow collector and enthusiast.
That's why the best strategy is to just collect things you enjoy. My wife knows nothing about rarity or what shadowless card is, she just knows she likes bats and other cute pokemon so she collects them and is so happy doing it. Wish I could get into that mindset some times. Really like the video and is very informative.
I watch all your stuff but rarely comment as I don't have much to offer in that sense. I did want to say this was a really well done vid. I really enjoyed this one.
Brilliant clip, I have been collecting trading cards all my life and I just buy what I think I will get the most enjoyment out of. I have so many cards, never sold any because I know I will miss them, certain cards hold a lot of memories from when I was a child.
I honestly feel like the SWSH alt arts will 10x in years to come but its gonna take a huge decline people selling off cards and losing them through moves or whatever then a popularity spike happens for prices to 5x but its super solid to hold alt arts
Which is a better investment strategy for collecting Pokémon: purchasing Elite Trainer Boxes, or buying individual products (such as mini tins, boxes, and booster boxes) from a specific set?
Absolutely! There is plenty of negativity in the world, so hopefully people get something positive from my videos. Nothing but well-wishes for all of the collectors, investors, and enthusiasts out there!
This hits me in the gut. I just bought a huge chase card and took a chance grabbing it raw, thinking I could judge the condition fairly. It ended up having multiple indents with no way to return the card since it was through a Japanese auction. Should have just bought it graded… stupid.
Other languages, Charizard, unique errors such as Neo Revelation holo bleeds (especially in 1st edition and mint), no rarity symbol, sealed vintage product... Maybe I'm giving away my secrets....
@@pokemon_classics at first glance just to quickly see that they know what's good to collect, the other option is listening to some attractive female with boob photo's and a terrible collection. Check out Team Up Pack prices then compare to the going price of Team Up Prerelease kits, sweet little buy there
I haven’t watched the video but I just saw this thumbnail. This is true of EVERYTHING. The vast majority of people are sheep. And think people have authority over them, or are more intelligent than them. People don’t think for themselves. Whether it’s politics, sports, or Pokémon, or anything else. The vast majority think someone that gets paid to tell them something knows best. When in reality they’re just another dummy like everyone else. There is no better example of this than sports. While someone that gets paid to talk or write about sports has more immediate access to say an interview, their opinion on things is no different than if it were coming from your uncle Vito. Moral of the story: most people are dumb. Also, the VAST majority of people, gotta be well over 90%, are followers in everything in life. This is very evident of the constant regurgitation and reposting of groupthink. Which is usually readily apparent at a glance with the use of buzzwords. The current Pokémon buzzword going around is “Fomo”. “Scalper” is another one, although not so new.

I think sometimes people overlook the amount of work, risk, and expenses that accompany being a seller too. It's not always big wins and easy profits.

Got any deals on your site?
@@JL-km7mm Well, I tried to share it, but couldn't as youtube seems to filter it but not actual spam. It's in my channel though is the best I can do.

It's videos like this that need to be shared in sooooo many spaces. People could really benefit from this knowledge. Thank you for sharing!
My new favorite Pokémon channel for sure
One of your best videos so far. Nice work

These new sets not having alt arts and instead called them Secret Art Rare or Galarian Gallery could also promote the alt arts
Its 2023 people are not losing their cards anymore. Moms are not throwing away binders and whole boxes of cards
Great video!
Too few people look into the psychology side of investing, its nice to see a video about this topic for pokémon.
Great perspective and delivery. Keep up the good work!
One of my fave poke tubers of all time. No hyperbole
Love your content as always 💙
Really good video my man. Love your clear and concise way of presenting information.
This is an incredible video. You have an amazing channel!
Excellent points my dude 💯
Another great video. Thanks for the research and point of view that you relay. 😊
Great video. Thanks for the content
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great video! 😁

Quality over quantity with your videos. You put out top quality videos every time and I love it! Keep it up!
Great video. I think it is also important to not go all into any market be it collectibles, real estate or stocks. Also what is the intro music from?
@5:10 are these website update on japanese cards as well?
I use Pokedata for my Japanese sets :)
Phenomenal video. Thank you for the incredibly positive and uplifting content!!

Thanks expert.
I always look at someone's collection before I take their advice.
Definitely not a bad idea . . . although it's not a pre-requisite to expertise, it does at least establish some credibility.

Was this reuploaded? I swear I saw this video already lol
Been collecting again for about 3 years and the more I learn the more I realize I know nothing 😂
“Charizard UPCs to the moooon!” 😅😂

Based on this comment, I think you will agree with most of the information and commentary I offer in this video.
I think the music takes away from your video. It makes it more difficult to hear you.
Most of the EXPERTS seem to hang out in the FB groups 😬
Nice
Thank you, I appreciate the visit!
