DIY IN-GROUND TRAMPOLINE - Garden Playground Transformation

- Thought I would answer a couple of the most common questions here. The trampoline was a regular above ground model which I removed the middle section of the steel legs. The thick plastic are used for the retaining wall was 300 mm DPC, link below. Finally, the hole has never filled with more than a couple of inches of rain water, even in the middle of winter. If in doubt dig a little deeper and perhaps put a gravel bed in, at worst you can just drop a cheap pump through the gaps in the springs and pump out on the odd occasion you might have a buildup over winter.
There are step-by-step videos for the build on the channel.

This week we finally got round to finishing off the garden playground and sunken trampoline. Here is a look from start to finish of how we transformed the forgotten corner of the garden.

Great video! What is the tool that you used at 0:23 to remove the weeds please?
michael wilkinson that would be a children’s garden spade from the supermarket. 😂 Well it worked. 👍
You
I'm planning to do this for my two tykes, 18months and 3yrs, but I was worried it might lose it's bounce if the air can't flow freely underneath, have you found this to be the case at all?
I reckon I can build that not really but does mean the padding flaps up a little, at least when I bounce on it! Easiest option is just stick a 4” pipe from void out and up. (Put some mesh over though as you will prob end up with all the kids toys stuffed down it!
What a great dad. The kids are lucky to have someone so dedicated and loving.
Definitely going to do this for my son. Been thinking of getting him a 8ft tramp but worried about broken bones! So this is a great idea!
It never cross my mind to lower the legs to dig less. Everything on this project was great.
What a dad ❤
such a great dad
Your kids can be proud to you to have such a great dad.
The fence work looks amazing! Great work as ever Tim and Co. 😁
Hi Tim, Jo and kids, All along i thought the kids are going to love this...but lo and behold, it's really for dad. Should've known. I see the chickens were helping out as usual. Good job on the wall, makes such a difference. Stay safe and keep up the good work.
Lovely to see your new addition and mum.
I watched nearly every video you've released over the last month and you have inspired me and my wife to erect some new fences and we are now half way through laying 70 m2 of paving. The most DIY I've ever previously done was put together some Ikea flat pack. Although I say myself its looking quite good and we both have a massive sense of achievement after another full on weekend mixing and laying. Not bad for 2 50 year olds. So glad I didn't find your channel sooner otherwise who knows what might have been built.
That was a labor of love for sure. I love it all! Great job and I am sure the kids love it.
4:09 the double hand cup - classic dad move. Used every day. You were a bit late there though fella, gotta pre-empt the DHC, could have ended in tears...for you.
Looks beautiful. Great simple design. Thanks for posting!
Wow! What a wonderful dad! I wish my children had the same kind of dad. Bless you sir!!
Great job ...that fence looks great for a large outdoor chalkboard for the kids .. have one in my garden kids love it ...
How sweet you have all the cute little animals following you around the whole time to ♥️
What a wicked video and it shows what you can do keep up the great videos and it’s great to see the whole family out enjoying it
great job with the additional astro turf around it I love that idea! in ground trampolines are the best. its just more fun to not have to worry about getting a serious injury falling off a hull height trampoline
I watched this looking for ideas for a trampoline. What I found is inspiration for a dream husband and family. Kudos
Amazing job 👍👍 god bless you all . Beautiful family awesome parents ❤️
I had sunken a trampoline for my kids a few years ago but the edges gave way over time. I saw you video a few weeks back and used the DPC and steak technique and it worked a treat and looks fantastic. Thanks for the helpful tips.!! New subscriber here 👍👍
What do you mean by the edges
Wow! Now thats amazing and your amazing too. Great work 👍🏽
Great job. Thanks for sharing this information 🫡🫡
your integrated trampoline is extremely awesome! You are great!
What a great project. The kids will be so happy.
omg, yet another favourite video of mine on this channel. what a great project this was. and with 3 kids, this will get used a lot :-))))
Oh I love the natural shaped wood sooo much!
Am a dad of 5 children, the youngest 3 look to be similar ages to yours, so I have 1 question.....where did you find the time 😂😂 amazing fair play!!
Loved watching this. Great job
What a AWESOME Job. Im so inspired too do this.😁
Brilliant job Tim👍🏻
Fantastic. Just confirmed it's way too much work for me. But fantastic job and who knew you'd need something to retain the walls. Tha ks.
Put a large blackboard on that cladding for the kids. There are other cool games you could put up as well.
Good job. Turnt out amazing
Looks awesome, well done sir
Well done fella! Makes me wanna have a go! But really enjoy having ten fingers! 🥴🤣👍
unreal transformation
King of DIY !!!
Awesome Video, I was pricing the "in-ground kits"and about had a stroke. I like your DIY approach better and it looks great!
£25 second hand trampoline and a week of digging! 😅
That’s good innit, so close to the wall and wooden posts sticking out the ground
Great job!
Как всегда очень позитивное видео! Спасибо!
Love it.... although I’m dreading the day my wife has this idea. We currently have a 7 week old so there’s time to plan yet! May I just say you go that extra mile for your children and the fun they have and the smiles makes it all worth it! Good on you Tim! Take care. Marc.
Even the worst work they have done I hateit
The turf really gave it a great look
I have trying to figure out for months how to do this if it was even possible! I have gone through 3 trampoline nets and just OVER the way it looks in my backyard! This WILL be my project this month!
Me to but I'm worried about rain filling the hole up
Wow, great job Dad!
Brilliant mate
Loved this video, the way you edited it and the music!
Thanks.
@@TheRestorationCouple So enthusiastic. 😂 JK
This is awesome
Great video of your project. I think you did an excellent job with what you put together. My only concern is still a safety concern due to the close proximity of the wall and the fencing. At this early age it may not make much of a difference, but as the kids get older they could end up bouncing right into the wall of even on top of the fencing. Otherwise it looks really like a great space.
Excellent work, man!
Thank you!
You’re my role model if I become a dad one day. It’s a big win if my kids are happy when i’m doing this.
Nice work
You are a grafter - respect ✊
So much safer for the children, good job done
great job pal.
Great idea for covering that concrete fence with planks of wood.
Now you won't have to worry about your children's safety there.
Overall, the playground looks beautiful.
By the way, congratulations on your third child.
Is it a boy or girl?
Thank you for the video. Shalom
Mate, this is brilliant. Just wish I had space
Great work, was wondering when your next vid would be out 👍👍
Top Work Gent 🤟🏻🤟🏻
Awesome
This is literally genius. Our kids would love this. Awesome stuff!
awesome
Great video... and dismount 😂
Brilliant!! .... Don't forget to cover it up on Bonfire-Night! (Other people's fireworks will find a way, they just Luuuuurv trampolines :-)
Awesome ...Hat tip to you sir
Nice and fun :)
Awesome idea i would do this but also leave safety net on
You mate are a legend 👍🏻 i am nearly finished my sunken trampoline :) i would love to do a little climbing frame area like yours. Do you have any more videos of the area cheers
Great work there Tim. Bonus man points for the big air :D Can't imagine how anyone can give a thumbs down for this of all things!
Looks great!! I am toying with the idea of doing something like this if I can snag an old trampoline... What I'm curious about is the rain - I don't want to do all this work and then end up with a mosquito pit 😬
I have checked it out of curiosity over two winters and after the heaviest of rainfalls it will have around 2-3” in it which takes a day or so to drain naturally. Depending on how clay like your soil is then it might just be worth digging an additional hole in the middle of the bottom and filling with gravel or just keep a cheap submersible pump on standby if it did become a problem?
Wish I found this page sooner. That's really cool and came out great. Also where did you find a roll of turf that big?!
That is sweet
Did you guys low-key introduced us to the youngest member of your family. I see you Tim.
WOW
You got a like just for the thumbnail🤣🤣
Putting out videos with a new born, I don’t know how you can do it. There is not enough coffee and hazelnut creamer in the world!
Chh
Looks great-- a lot of hard work, but end result will be tons of fun for your children. Only thought when seeing this is, why build so close to a wall ?? It would seem a little dangerous for bouncing and falling off the trampoline.
My hero
Nice pond you made there 😬
Wow lucky kids I was wondering what the posts and climbing thing was for as it looked very generic and not particularly fun, then I saw the wide angle shot and understood it was for jumping off onto the trampoline!
The chickens hoovering all the worms from the hole 😂
Remember watching this and the girls face once done. Super dad
Hi, did you get any issues with air struggling to escape after applying the safety matting?? Installing this tramp has been bl##dy hard work 😓
Great video, i'm think of doing the same, initially was going to leave turf up to the perimeter but moving and strimming the edge might be difficult so am considering artificial grass. You said yours was temporary, is this still the case? Would you recommend it or would you prefer real grass? Also those climbing poles are great, where did you get the materials from?
Hi wonder if you can help, what type of wood was used on the wall sizes of the Battons as well plz
There’s something funny about sped up chickens
No avians were harmed in the making of this film
Love that last jumping image of you...cool
All that done in an afternoon lol
Who on earth would give this a thumbs down? Wow the six of you should get a life, if you cant respect a man building something special for his kids there is something wrong with you
i so agree. I really don't understand some people.

Ren P why?!
Look at daddy
Happy babies 😍
Amazing work. Digging the hole looks backbreaking!! How many hours digging?
Why did you install artificial grass?
MultiKangaroo so he did not have to mow the lawn with all of the stuff in the way
Ok so I'm not crazy for thinking of digging without a tractor. Cool
Hi. I brought an inground trampoline but the hole in some places goes out a lot further than it should creating a gap between the side of the hole and the trampoline. Please can you advise on the best way to fill these gaps?
Really wanna do this, just don’t know what if rains? The side dirt going to push towards underneath of trampoline right?
Hi, what a brilliant video. I'm going to copy this and do the trampoline idea in my garden. With the legs on the edge, when the kids bounce on it after a while and the rain, has the sides caved in??
No two years of bouncing and two wet winters and all fine. 👍
What are the measurements of the legs after you cut them and what is the depth of the outer and inner hole?
did you set the frame on top of the stakes for extra support or the inside of the stakes?
Hi - amazing job, could you tell me where you got your trampoline from and what are the 2 depths needed to dig out underneath? thanks
It was £20 on eBay. 👍 it’s a regular trampoline , I just took out the middle leg section. The ledge is the height of the legs and depth at the centre of the hole is around the same as the height the original trampoline was from the ground. 👍
