Nice work, as a contractor myself the only thing I would say is to have drilled some steel reinforcing rods into the old slab to tie the old and new concrete slabs together. Also some reinforcing mesh would be a good idea.
The amount of effort, time and materials are probably much more than anyone would ever suspect. I like the idea of using composite materials. However so costly these days. A great project that actually got finished and looks super cool. Thanks for this.
With all that kit you clearly know what you're doing, so you been doing it for a while, no novice can just do this, you're experienced in the craft, we was not born yesterday, But great job!!!
Beautiful minitaure version of The Coliseum. What you did, takes commitment, skills and cojones to accomplish. Hope the family is happy and enjoying the results of your hard work.
So Nice!!! Living in a cold winter climate, I can imagine a vented, partially enclosed greenhouse overhead to keep the heat in for enjoying the outdoors year round!!! I really love the whole design of this.
Awesome creation! Good job! I'm surprised this hasn't reached a few million views, this is not only unique but easily shows that with some thought and patience, it's possible to even DIY something as awesome as this.
Well done. I am a landscaper by trade and what you did (while maybe not being the same way I would do it) came out very well. I would like to see an update to see how it is holding up!
Hey man, I don’t comment much but I have to say, this is the first video that I have seen on RUclips where I actually watched every second of it, and it had my complete attention. I even paused and went back a few times so I could better understand the steps. Congrats and thank you for inspiring me!
That is greeeaaat! You have more patience than I do. With a few modifications you could have a fire-pit encircled by a hot tub. I concur with Just Dave...the 2001 a Space Odyssey music...Strauss if I had to guess...a nice touch. I look forward to the follow-up video of when you add the Saturn V smoker.
You missed your calling your a great masonry person this is pro level and very neat project. Love the rounded design so much more inviting and easier to talk with others when in circle rather a square. Great Job. I would imagine many of your friends are like wanna come build me one. I love the use of the composite for the seats great idea and a lot warmer than sitting on concrete slab ingenious.
Best fire pit I have seen . Can you do brief list of the materials used Ie is it all composite decking or did I see some timber decking in the video . Also the curved bendy strips , never seen these before , what are they and where do you get them from , thinking of having a go using your ideas , thanks for help
Kevin Hale thanks! It is all composite. The wood was when I was deciding the cuts before the composite was delivered. I got the recycled plastic bendy bars from here www.rockwoodwpc.co.uk/. Although they don’t seem to have them on the site anymore. Give them a call and they might be able help
Great job, looks good. Nice way to re purpose an old space and materials. Fire pan a good idea as fire direct on concrete without firebricks can explode small air pockets in the concrete. (from experience)
No, he's right, he's no professional. Why did you use bitumen to seal only the floor of the seat cavity? Also, what is the frost depth in your region? I would be a little concerned with frost damage to the seat structure from all that organic matter you mixed in with the rocks for fill, but then again, I live in Zone 5 / Zone 4 so we have a bit more to worry about than say a California Zone 9 in that area.
Wow. Aw-inspiring. I can't imagine the level of focus and dedication this must have taken. At one point, I felt like I was watching the pyramids being built.Really exceptional work. Kudos.
Mind blowing! The first thing that came to mind is not using rebar or metal mesh reinforcement to tie the concrete slabs together, but someone already mentioned that below. The next thing is, without being judgemental here, is why you didn't cut the wooden panels in a voussoir fashion on top of the bench backrest to tie the top and back panels together and eliminate the gaps between them? Otherwise, what an amazing job you've done! Hardly a non-professional execution!
awesome ideas, my very first thoughts were drainage, and every time I thought it, two minutes later, it was "and this pipe is added for drainage" touché!
I have never considered giving a standing ovation for a youtube video, but dude, I am on my feet. Bravo BRAVO!
I know right!!!!!! So much work.
Absolutely man that was impressive!!!
Nice work, as a contractor myself the only thing I would say is to have drilled some steel reinforcing rods into the old slab to tie the old and new concrete slabs together. Also some reinforcing mesh would be a good idea.
Who cares
Anthony cronin Clients do when it cracks and call you back and good contractors care as they take pride in their work and maintain a good reputation.
Nice off you to say, thank you
@@cro1321 someone has a bad work ethic
Anthony cronin Someone who wants to do it right
The only thing missing is a final shot with friends gathered round, fire blazing, and cocktails chilling. Magnificent job, my friend.
That is beautiful. You know you’re an adult when stuff like this is satisfying
The amount of effort, time and materials are probably much more than anyone would ever suspect. I like the idea of using composite materials. However so costly these days. A great project that actually got finished and looks super cool. Thanks for this.
Dude, take a bow. Standing ovation from the gallery. Bravo!
Thanks to this guy im trying it in my own backyard. God be with me.
nice to see a man enjoying his space and having a go instead of being neurotic! Great job Enjoy the times around it✌
You are a true expert if you make something like that and still give everyone the im no pro or a tradesman warning. True handyman king. Great work :)
That would look really good with glass rocks under the fire pan to give it a fire and ice look. Very nice pit and excellent idea.
Wow!! That's quite a remarkable feat! Congrats!! Only thing I would have added would be venting for smokeless pit. Incredible work!
I built a incubator once, in grade school that works. Nice Job Guy's, it's beautiful.
Motivation! Looks difficult but definitely amazing diy one day
