KM loved the channel for a long time as a wodworker. But this video hits another level. I am a high school engineering teacher and this is getting shown tomorrow. I know you are a busy man but if you would ever be interested in doing a qa chat with stundents interested in engineering and design let me know. No worries if not, thanks for the great insights.
@@hanskeim7001 yeah I'd love to. email me support@kmtools.com and they'll forward to me. Tell them I sent you or it might end up getting filtered. Cheers
Yes please do more videos, some years ago i had taken a dilapidated garage and pulled the floor out and replaced the broken joist and put the floor back down the right way and began building a shop of my own. I couldn’t afford much so i got some old run down falling apart or missing parts of radial arm saw, table saw, router, belt sander, drill, and various hand tools from yard sales and family and practically lived in my shop. I made a router table similar to yours and made it interchangeable with a bandsaw, and turned the belt sander upside down housed in its own cradle and just swapped out witch ever one i needed. But i dont have any of my tools anymore and dont have anywhere to build a shop again so i watch shows like yours and live vicariously through them. I enjoyed the journey from idea to distribution and the lessons learned along the way. Ill be watching and following you to see what comes next, and i am glad to hear your teaching the younger generations and including kids with disabilities. I taught my kids how to work safely in my shop and to respect the machinery and they helped me out and learned a thing or two along the way. Sorry for the long story i just ment to thank you for sharing you story, it made me remember the days gone by working in my shop. Thanks sincerely Steve Loriot
All I have to say is thanks for the hard work put together, so a beginner like me in woodworking can access a very awesome tool that makes sense without breaking the bank.
Love this video! I really appreciate you sharing the manufacturer’s/ designers perspective and operational details here and with the jig in the prior video. I got the jig + table bundle from KM tools about 2 weeks ago! Absolutely Love it!! Fits my Makita 18V perfect. I sanded with 220 and put a finish of oil/poly/spirits on and also an included sticker. The next day I used it for the first time, running about 350 feet of PA cherry through a round over bit. Apart from changing batteries, I didn’t have to make any adjustments AT ALL and the quality on the last one was just as good as the first. I used a shop vac for dust collection behind the fence and secured the hose with a bungee. I also mounted a strong magnet (available at KM tools😊) to the inside of the box which keeps my router wrench handy. I store my earplugs around the handle cutout. I am considering putting some ruler tape on the tracks (0 on each track lined up with the center of the bit)… but a ruler works well for now. I’m a big fan of JKM and Tamar, and this collaboration is AWESOME!!! Thank you both and keep on trucking.
Thanks for the behind the scenes. As woodworkers we know what goes into making furniture, boxes, etc., and compare to Ikea or whatever. You showed us that manufacturing takes a whole lot of skill and time as well. Super appreciate your emphasis on affordability. I've got your apron, urethane dovetail guide and sharpening jig, all of them are fantastic. Keep crushing it!
Great video, love to hear how others go through the design, prototyping and eventual manufacturing process. Also brings me joy to see small businesses collaborate!
Just a thought. I would suggest having the router bits in the vertical edges so that when you are reaching in to install /release / adjust the router, you aren't reaching over sharp hazardous bits. Other than that, cute functional bench
I've been wanting a router table for a while but never could decide on one until just now! Both you and Tamar did an awesome job with this product. I will be ordering soon.
Hi KM. Wow, this is a magnificent product in conjunction with Tamara 3x3 customs router jig. It's a well thought out and designed movable router table. I love the versatility of this product. The strength is amazing, and seeing the rear end of the vehicle not collapsing due to the strength and design of the product speaks volumes. Great job 👍. Take care. From South Africa
what a wonderful video -- thank you! You were instrumental in getting me happily through the lockdown and, while I don't have as much time to make sawdust these days I still love these videos which are clearly made with as much care as the woodworking.
Awesome, ordering mine today, I already have the 6 in 1 Trim Router Jig. Thanks for another fine product that makes woodworking easier and more enjoyable.
Assembled mine today. Awesome product. I added a pair of mag switch 150s to the side, so it can also mount it to the table saw. I also added a French cleat to the back for wall storage.
i liked the inside look of the development process. I also really value the collaboration with other creators and the added value that it brings. Thanks!
Cam from Tamar's channel, already have her 6 in 1 jig, and for the price I immediately had to order the router table. And perfect timing too, I need to build myself some cabinets in the near future, this is gonna make that so much more plausible for this former software engineer.
I already had Tamar’s router jig and ordered one of the KM tables as soon as I saw it. They go together perfectly and I find I’m using it far more than I originally anticipated. Very interesting to see how the project evolved. Thanks!
A router table has always been viewed as a "nice to have" tool, but I didn't want to spend the time and space building a freestanding table. I think you and Tamar have figured out a great solution for those who want a well built, affordable, and compact solution. Thanks!
Thanks for an awesome video explaining the process from idea to manufacturing. You have built another fine product, and I look forward to seeing how it evolves from user feedback. Thanks for what you do!
Great behind the scenes video. I love seeing things like this and you being humble enough to show us how its all done. God Bless you brother, keep up the good work.
Just scrolling through videos here at my firehouse, which im currently building training props for, and I come up on this gem! Holy shit!!! Pardon my french, but this is exactly I need! Already have the 6 in 1 jig also..brilliant! Thank yall for all the hard work yall put in!
Thanks for explaining the development process along with the product. It was interesting to hear how went about creating your product, developed some guiding principles for the end product and discovered what works and what doesn't. The story contributes to the product.
I thought I wouldn’t use it as much as I have but having a quick portable router table has been a speed game changer for my work flow. I am finding I reach for this for everything but big thick grooves.
Great work on the idea, the vid and how you worked with Tamar Jonathan. Really well done. Thank you so much too on how to go from concept to useful product! Looking forward to ordering the combo kit!
Great job, looks very well! :) Might I suggest adding a drawer in the bottom? It will allow for storing accessories and get those sharp bits out of the way when adjusting the router or changing batteries, also reducing the chance of sharp bits snagging onto your shirt while carrying. Changing the bottom frontplate to a drawerfront, while adding a plate on top of the drawer for structural purposes, stops dust from falling in the drawer and ground, while also making it easier to clamp down (preferably from each side while the plate "rests" on top of the cut sides). May I add a little concern about swelling? Thinking about the exposed sides of the top and also bottom if placed on something moist or wet (I mean rain happens), it would be nice to have similar melamin-trim or ABS(?) plastic bumper-protection all around. Some rubber feet would also be nice, and add friction to the surface.
Thanks for sharing your process for product development. I have enjoyed your videos for the way you break down builds and even show your mistakes and how to fix them. This video really helps me think about a product I am considering and how to develop. Keep up the great content.
I have zero interest in ever manufacturing anything like this. But this was a super interesting video. I enjoyed watching it and learning the process. It also makes me appreciate the price of the table more. I was pleasantly surprised when I saw the price. I have the 6 in 1 jig from Tamar. But due to all kinds of other things in the way…. I haven’t been able to use it yet. Definitely makes me want to get it out and test it out.
That was great to see the process of your product coming out for sale. That looks like an awesome router table, definitely think I’ll be ordering one because my rather janky shop made one is needing an upgrade lol.

I made a bench top router table with the 3X3 6-in-1 router jig last year (and I recently converted it to work either clamped to the workbench or hung on a French cleat), but I have to say your design is certainly better.
Very cool! Love the video. I have an old plastic Black & Decker router table that I received from my grandfather years ago and I have been wanting to replace it with something more sturdy. This looks way better than any other small table on the market.
Absolutely love this. It's awesome getting to see the behind the scenes for this product, and I love that your goal is to make woodworking accessible instead of price gouging everyone. I'm sure you could, but you don't, and I really appreciate it. Keep being awesome!
Very interesting! (I have to shamefully confess that my table is still in the box because life stuff happened. Hope to have it up and doing great things before the end of the summer..)
Have you considered using black HDO? I’ve used it for a couple of projects and have been really impressed. It cuts well on the cnc router, is waterproof, and is just super durable.
That looks familiar, and useful...central 'pinching vice', dog holes on either side of a small rectangular bench, two screws to adjust the clamp... Did you get your inspiration from the Craftsman Bench they used to make in the 1870s-1980s? I used to own one!

Nice design, I would be concerned out have sharp router bits in an area where you'll be reaching in to turn the router on and off. Suggestion: Move the bit storage to the side and make it large enough so you can clamp the table to a larger surface if necessary.
You could not use it if you’re worried about it but it’s a great feature. In this design there’s nowhere else it would make sense to put it. Or only put the ones you’re using for that project in there. I’ve used it quite a bit and it’s not an issue. The on switch and adjustment on all the routers it uses are well above the tops of the bits.

id buy one in a heartbeat if available in the UK, though I would never use the bit storage. Bits are sharp and could easily cut when reaching in
That looks familiar, and useful...central 'pinching vice', dog holes on either side of a small rectangular bench, two screws to adjust the clamp...

Amazing
This looks really great do you ship to the UK?
Good stuff as always. Where is the process is the patent/copyright search, etc. to avoid legal entanglements?
yes
I'm new to woodworking, so maybe I missed it. How do you adjust the height?
Maybe add a ruler on both sides of t-track.
I would put a flange on the bottom so that it could be clamped down on a table.
All I know is if I had a lot more money, I would have a lot more KM tools!
WOW. Can I get it to Sweden? 🙏🤔🇸🇪
Absolutely my friend. We have real fast and reliable international shipping.
What are the overall assembled dimensions please? Just trying to plan location/mounting in my mini-shop. Thanks. Exceptionally well conceived and built product, as KM always!! 🙂
Roughly a 15” cube

Regarding the fence, can you put a shim behind one of the sacrificial sides in order to use the router table like a joiner?
And any plans to accept a porter cable?
Can you make one for a larger router
Awesome little table and I would have been keen but the shipping to Australia is very expensive. Not your fault at all, just sucks that international shipping is costly
Hello.
Andres from Toronto Canadá
What will be the cost to get it here ?
i'd buy a scaled up version that fits bosch 1617EVS
Is there a way to get in touch with a product idea? I have a simple jig in mind that would work best with CNC production. I don’t have one and don’t want one, I just want the product!
Can I use this with my Bosch GFK300? How do I order from Germany?
do you recommend this setup for the bosch pr20evs 1.0 hp router?
Shipping to Australia is the same price as the jig effectively making it double the price. Any chance we can just buy the plans?
Yeah AUS is expensive for heavy stuff. No we aren't going to be selling the plans. My apologies.
