    Always nervous about a boosted 4 in place of a relaxed 6 or 8 for long term durability

      Just don't plan to own any of these high-output turbo 4s beyond 100K miles, from any manufacturer.

      The 2.5 is based on the 2.7 which has been very reliable

      ​@JohnEvans-ct6mz those engines haven't been used in the Traverse since 2016 The LFX version had no such issues so get your facts straight.
      I had a 2014 Impala with 275 000 miles on it and it's still ran great. Started rotting out.

    Twenty five years ago I tried to stay far away from in-line -4 engines instead of V8s due to less stress but nowadays these boosted highly complicated hybrids make me very nervous 😬. Of course the exorbitant price also keeps me far away as well 😆

    Chevrolet still needs a body-on-frame SUV to challenge the Toyota 4Runner and Jeep Grand Cherokee. There are still people who want to off-road but can't afford a Tahoe or Suburban.

      @@jacobyo99 I know that. It still is more off-road capable than any crossover. That makes it more of a 4Runner challenger than a Traverse challenger.

      Do people really pay $50-60,000 for off road capable vehicles then take them out and beat the crap out of them on brushy, muddy, rocky trails? That always seemed so insane to me.

      @@Policearegood-mt6kx It is insane. Most people don't need to pay that much for off-road capability. That's why I have always wanted car companies to provide more subcompact, compact, and midsize SUVs with real off-road capability. We need vehicles like the current Suzuki Jimny and Ford Everest here in America.

      @@toronado455 Chevy 2.5 l turbo is not a new engine. The Chevy Colorado had that engine since 2016 and never had any problems actually pretty reliable. But GM make trash transmission

    Everyone complaining about canning the V6, but all I remember is the V6 in the older ones having timing chain and cam issues at around 60K miles, am I wrong?

    Will the new Traverse also get the Trail Boss, High Country, and ZR2 Bison trims as well? The RS trim may be renamed as the Traverse RST.

You're paying more for less. They charge more for less cylinders and no spare tire and you asinine crash test specimens just fork over the money.

    It's a beautiful truck but that turbo 4 is no go for me; GM’s 3.6 v6 had major timing chain issues. I'll roll the dice with a Toyota before I jump into this.

    Sorry for the little turbo fantasy!!! In the future, it will have the same problem as the Tundra. A lot of demand for power for these small engines, creating a crisis to sell us electric cars, or rather cars for fifteen minute cities. God Bless old fashion America

      Understood 2.5 turbo. Still, it's a 4 cylinder engine. Which for a suv family hauler that's not going to do well in the long run.

    The last GM car I had was a disaster, breaks failed, ignition lock recall, headlight relay failed, the transmission gernaded hundreds of miles from home, the car over heated in a tunnel in rush hour traffic, the water pump failed again because of a crappy plastic elbow, it had high oil consumption and the onstar uniit tracked my location. The car nearly killed me several times, I am done the GM forever.

    Sorry, I don’t trust a small-displacement, high-horsepower engine from GM. Also, I haven’t seen GM build a quality interior in years. Even Denalis and Cadillacs are filled with cheap plastic and garbage switchgear.

      @@mbox314BMW still makes the best power plant. The B58 straight 6 along with the best transmission ZF8 speed in the business. They deal with emissions, yet produce 400hp very reliable and 30mpg ins performance drivetrain.
      Sad American companies and do this. Mainly because they don’t want to spend money. Anything America builds is budget quality with a high price tag to consumers.
      This is why I’ve only been buying German for past 10 years. No issues.

    It looks fantastic, but I steer clear of 4 cyl engines in vehicles half this size. I'd be interested in seeing how it drove, but I'm skeptical. Sure looks good tho lol

    A 4 cylinder Turbo, are you kidding me? I have a 2001 Sierra And yes, It has a 5.3 l naturally aspirated V8 Engine cranking, 285 horsepower and 325 foot-pounds of torque stock. Why
    Are they putting turbos in everything and why Is General motors using such little engines In these big heavy vehicles???? General motors needs to implement the original engines back in these bahemas SUVS like the V6. And they need to bring back the V8 Engine. People don't want Turbo V6's. Especially me, your engine is not going to last, especially with a Turbo. I will never, ever purchase another general motor vehicle Unless it is 2006 or older.

      Almost every automaker in the U.S. is doing this, cause of strict government fuel economy and emission regulations. They're trying to get rid of V8's and V6's in favor of 3- and 4-cylinder engines, some with turbos. I don't like it, but it is what it is.

      My 2014 Fiat 500L has over 150K with turbo 4. And I do realize it is a small car. But if you take care of your vehicle, more than likely it will last and take care of you and your family.

    This was useless. It told me nothing I couldn’t learn from a spec sheet. Are you sure you drove it?? Zero subjective measurement of ride, noise level, value, handling, etc. I love Motorweek but you missed the mark here.

      I'm not buying that. For the first time in my life I'd actually consider buying one. Not this one, but a Corvette. Pretty much since the C6 (I actually had one) they've gotten more solid every generation.

      ​@@WSKRBSCT I drove A C8 recently.... The idle is very lumpy ....like an old chevette with a misfire .... I'm not even joking Also anyone under 5 foot 10 don't even think about ever Trying to drive this car The seat adjust a maximum of one inch in either direction

      Longer than that. GM kept millions of mechanics in business. Millions of homes were built, just from mechanics making money from working mainly on GM vehicles.
      This is why the government loves them.
