    Give a person a loaf of bread, they eat for a day. Teach a person to MAKE a loaf of bread they can eat for a lifetime. Same thing goes for just about everything in life. Knowledge is power! Ive been cooking from scratch since I was 12. Im 40 now.

    For the past two weeks I have been making one recipe after the other that I found on the Internet. And not the first one was satisfying. So today I tried yours. And they were by far the best roll I have ever had. And very easy to make. My search is over! Thank you!

      I've never ever made bread until I saw your recipe. That was Monday. I made it Monday night. It lasted a day lol & was Gone! My husband, kids, and nephew said it was the best bread they'd ever had. So, my dough for these rolls is on its first rise now on the counter. I'm doin a trial run on these so I can make em for Thanksgiving dinner. I know they'll be absolutely delicious, I just want them as pretty as yours lol. I'm gonna try & make their lil "butts" line-up perfectly. I'm new at most things cooking wise. I'm from Alabama & wanna cook hard stuff like meatloaf, pork chops, chicken fried steak, greens, homemade mashed potatoes, fried potatoes & stuff like my Momma made. I'm tryin my best to learn lol... I should have been at home watchin momma instead of runnin around with friends (they can't cook now either)! Both my sister's are fantastic cooks cause they watched momma. I really really wanna learn to make fried chicken! My husband and kids love fried chicken. I don't eat meat except fish, but they are all meat lovers. I Love your channel & how you take time to show Every step. Your a incredible cook & so patient & reassuring. Idk where your from but I picked out that accent Fast! Everyone makes fun of how I talk lol. I live in Oklahoma but from Alabama. You seem so precious. Keep the videos comin & ty for being such a great example for beginners like me.

    If you're new to Rachel's channel, look at her recipes and try them. I'm not a good cook and certainly not a good baker but I've eaten some of the best food after watching her do it first. I just finished eating some of her yeast rolls ( butt rolls) and I got it right. If you like cake, you HAVE to try her Italian Cream Cake. Thank you Rachel for your wholesomeness, talent and the time you give us to enjoy your delightful recipes. Most of all, that you for sharing your family and farm with those of us who treasure strong family values. May God bless you, your home and your family!

    OMG, I am in tears my mom never made bread from scratch and I always wanted to make bread I have tried different recipes but the top of my bread you can knock on the top and is hard no one told me that putting butter on the top when it is hot that it will soften it up. After watching this I am going to go back and give it a try again and do the butter trick and see how my bread turns out if it works this time I will be making more bread than buying bread my opinion I think it is better than the store-bought.

    • @FeastandFarmCooks
      @FeastandFarmCooks  2 года назад +1

      I hope it works well for you! Hard tops are usually from adding too much flour during kneading and over working the dough too. The butter softens the tops some but they didn't have a hard crust on top to begin with.

    ever tried fried bread, this the way my grandmother made them. after dough had risen she reached half way in the stock pot and cut off what she wanted. she punched out the gas,then rolled out the dough to about 1/4 to 3/8 inch thick,then she would cut into squares about 3.5 to 4 inch squares. then get out the iron skillet put in large solid crisco vegatable oil, and fry untill golden brown. i would split the and put butter with little grape jelly. you should give this a try

    Wondering about neutral flavored vegetable oil.. ? Is Canola neutral? or corn oil? or safflower oil? .

      Avocado is what I recommend. All canola, vegetable, corn, oils are inflammatory and not good for our health, but if you cook with those normally any of them will work here.

    If this recipe were turned into cinnamon rolls, what temperature should be used for baking and how many minutes should they bake? Your “How to make a Loaf of Bread from Scratch (Beginner Friendly)” video brought me to this video, because you mentioned that it made good cinnamon rolls and that it was the same recipe you used for the rolls in this video. Thank you in advance. 😊

    • @FeastandFarmCooks
      @FeastandFarmCooks  3 года назад

      I'd bake them at 375 probably (sugar burns faster so turning down the oven helps with that) until they are golden brown and not dough in the center--probably the same 20/25 minutes but keep an eye on them and tent with foil if they start getting too brown before the center is done. I use a knife to poke down in to the center one to see if it's baked. I have a full cinnamon roll video here on the channel that would be much better than using this basic bread recipe if you want to check that out.

    Sorry for replaying to such an old video but I've been watching a ton of your stuff and learning a lot. However, why when you make the beginner loaf break you knead before the first rise and with the these yeast rolls you allow them to rise first and then knead?

    • @FeastandFarmCooks
      @FeastandFarmCooks  3 года назад +1

      You can comment on any video no matter how old and I'll answer. :) This recipe and the bread recipe are exactly the same as far as ingredients and the kneading is honestly just whenever I feel like doing it. The results of bread are no different whether you knead after the first rise or before. The recipe was originally taught to me to knead after the first rise like in the bread video but most "bread experts" do it before. In the end it's all the same.

    When you say use cup to measure, are you using an ordinary cup or cooking cup. I have cooking cups which says 1cup is 250ml on it. 1/2 cup 125 ml, 1/4 cup 60 ml and 1/3 cup 80 ml. Thanks Kay from England.

    I hope you might see this! I'd love to start making my own bread and other baked goods at home, but is there a good way to prevent sticking in stainless steel/glass without messing up the quality of your bread? I have a bird which means I can't use anything nonstick (they are sensitive to the fumes). This is always what has been holding me back.

    • @FeastandFarmCooks
      @FeastandFarmCooks  6 месяцев назад

      Hi there! Glass is one of the best for bread baking. You can always line with unbleached parchment if you want to or just grease everything really well with avocado oil (not butter). Glass loaf pans are easy to find but probably not muffin pans. Stainless might be an option there and you could do cupcake liners in them for rolls or just grease well. A very thin pairing knife will help release any stuck spots.

    Would it be possible to let these do the first rise overnight, or would it over rise at that point? Thanks!

    • @FeastandFarmCooks
      @FeastandFarmCooks  6 лет назад +2

      Kiana they will fall if you tried to rise them overnight. What you could do is mix the dough up, cover it, and put it in the fridge all night. Then the next morning punch it down, knead it, and shape your rolls. Let them rise an hour and bake. That would work!

    • @rina2217
      @rina2217 6 лет назад +1

      I’m wondering about this too. So your basically doing the first rise overnight in the fridge?

    • @FeastandFarmCooks
      @FeastandFarmCooks  6 лет назад +2

      @@rina2217 You can't really hurt a dough if you chill it overnight on the first rise. It will be huge when you get it out, but just punch it down. I'd even argue that the yeasty flavor will be better. The only time you run a risk of a problem is if they they are already shaped and in the pan. If you over rise them before baking they will sink in the oven.

      @@luzamor821 Instant yeast will activate just like active dry so if it foamed up that wasn't the issue.. Was your bread really hard on top? That comes from adding too much flour and overworking your dough/messing with it too much usually.

      Just throw them in an air tight container or zip lock back and use a straw to suck the air out through the zip top. Then freeze up to 2 months. You can bake them from frozen wrapped in some foil until heated, microwave them a bit (I think this makes them tough) or thaw at room temp then warm in the oven uncovered.

    • @FeastandFarmCooks

      I don't use vegetable oil at all anymore so you can swap that. If you use coconut oil, it has to be refined with no flavor. Otherwise your bread will taste like coconuts and that's gross. :)
