    I am in love with the new update. Especially with the R8's new BOP and its performance at Monza. Right out of the gate with the default aggressive setup , my time dropped from my previous best of 1:48:545 with a setup i paid a real mechanic to do for my driving style, to consistently lapping in the low to mid 1:47s and personal best of 1:47:142... and again WITH DEFAULT AGRESSIVE. That is just mind blowing. The changes might not feel so different on direct drive wheels, but on a G29 it's a completely different story. Now you can finally feel what the tires and suspension are doing. You can feel the actual limit of the grip and not just hope that it will stick. Absolutely mental stuff, but the single best thing is how wet driving works. No longer do you get your dry race setup, throw in wet tires, knock off few degrees of camber and call it a day. Now it's basically an entirely different segment of the game and i would really like to see more online wet race.

    Ehy Dave, I just noticed that the FFB indicator while you were driving was really low, not even hitting 50% on those big curbs. Might worth a try to increase the gain in the options, it really changed after the update for me, you can now feel the understeer and oversteer better.

      Good spot. Should be plenty higher than that to get the best feel when the grip starts to go. Much higher setting works better for me where I don't mind clipping when smashing a sausage kerb if it means more grip feel when cornering on track.

      The bar tells you how much of the available peak force is being used. He has a 27nm DD base, so if the FF bar was hitting close 100% all the time, it would be very very heavy on his hands.

    • @andreamasiero3329
      @andreamasiero3329 Год назад +1

      @@eetuli85 it’s not how it works. That bar is dependent to the in game force you set and it should go to the maximum (without going red) in order to feel all the details the ffb has to offer. You’re talking about the overall strength of the wheel base which you can fine tuning in the wheel properties.
      To prove that, you can reach the red on that bar even if you set the wheel to the lowest force available in the wheel properties (as long as the in game force is high).
      As always there’s a lot of confusion on this subject and everyone thinks that they’re right 😂

    Findings from last night at COTA (probably the worst track in ACC ATM). Pressures don't matter anymore, you can get excellent grip at 28psi and 26, what's more important is core and surfaces temperature. On the McLaren, 85c and above gave great feel, below that point, I could only describe it as "grainy" the tyres, not the ffb. A LOT of default setups are a click or two too soft on the springs and the damper settings need reviewing, heavily, and you can now use sliding to get the heat in the tyres. Oversteer isn't the enemy, and can be used to your advantage. Oh! And bringing cambers down can improve stability a lot. Very impressed with this, hope they keep these additions for AC2

    as somebody with a couple thousand hours on ACC and a thousand plus on monza alone i have to say this update feels like a big step in the right direction, the cars now feel like they are riding on rubber with some give in them, the cars now feel like they bounce correctly, no so stiff that when you hit a curb it crashes into it, it feels exaggerated now because of how it was before but i think its about right honestly, as for the curbs on monza, i think everybody knows you cant attack the red sausages, they should upset the car in a major way, but all the other curbs feel on point. i know what you mean about cars losing grip suddenly though but ive always put it down to driver error myself, the cars weight has to be taken into account and ofcourse we know setup is crucial in ACC always has been. Yeh i like this update personally, its a good step forward.

      The way it losing grip is not correct, it was absolutely Drifting……. It’s on the correct way but just not realistic at all. Watch any onboard video on a GT3 car, nobody drive like that IRL

    • @jinx20001
      @jinx20001 Год назад +1

      @@ryomaprime3130 In real life a GT3 car is set up by professionals absolutely prime, then it’s driven by a professional and when they make a mistake the car can lose grip and spin.
      There are a million reasons why the car can lose control even when you least expect it, you will not see the car lose control in a straight line right? So there is nothing inherently wrong with the grip in the game, it does not just lose traction at random because if it did then that would be incorrect and likely a bug which would happen even in a straight line.
      The car loses grip mid corner where there could be many many reasons for it, trail braking can cause it if the rear end is higher than the front causing oversteer, can happen under braking if the BB is unbalanced and too far rearward, can happen from a combination of all those things plus tyres not being the correct pressure. We now know there is a bigger focus on outside middle and inside temps and how the tyres behave when the temperatures between the three are varying to a wide degree.
      We can’t complain that the car does not behave right until we have a complete and full understanding how to set the car up and how everything you can tweak effects the car and we can’t compare it to real life where the cars are set up by professionals per track and it’s driven by somebody that knows what they are doing.
      I’ve also never seen anybody complain about the cars in the game losing grip at random without reason who has driven these cars in reality, we have people racing these cars in real life and in sim who have compared the two, think James Baldwin and such. Never complained about randomly losing grip.
      Now like I said I have lost grip mid corner when I feel like I shouldn’t have, but it does not matter how I feel if something else has contributed to it, even in comparison to other games, just because iracing does not do the same thing does not mean that is correct and this is wrong. I always feel like it’s me that was the reason for a loss of control and I’m no slouch at the game, before patch for example I was a 1.47.5 driver on monza, there were probably 4 or 5 drivers I ever came across in public lobbies that could match or beat me so I know that track extremely well, I don’t think I’ve ever lost control of the car in hundreds of monza races alone where I thought something just wasn’t right.
      I will say however before the patch I do feel like the tyres were not as rubbery as they could be, everything was too stiff, every bounce felt like a crash into the tarmac, most of which seems to have improved a lot in my opinion…. I’m slower now, setups I had don’t work lol but I already understand why it feels the way it does and I really like it.

    • @davecamyt
      @davecamyt  Год назад +2

      Maybe the loss of grip isn't communicated very well through the wheel. 👍

    • @jinx20001
      @jinx20001 Год назад +1

      @@davecamyt perhaps there is an element of that, its hard to say because what do we as the driver take as loss of rear grip? with a direct drive (i use invicta also) the wheel tends to correct itself when things go sideways so you know when the car is moving out of wack because of that... i guess we could argue that there is not much indication when the car is about to start sliding on the rear but i think the beginning of the slide is more down to pedal input and so i guess thats where rumble motors and buttkickers start to come into play which will begin to activate as soon as the tyre starts losing adhesion to the road.
      its a difficult one for sure, im not about to sit here and tell anybody what they feel is wrong because we all take different cues from the feedback, i personally... even more so with the new update feel like i can feel the movement of the car more, the wheel correction comes quickly when a loss of traction begins, the wheel also goes light far sooner now when you reach the limit of the front tyres (feels more like F1 actually and its artificial understeer option, im not actually a fan of this but i feel it more now in ACC). So yeh its difficult to know exactly if its just driver mistakes and the game punishing you or if the FFB isnt quite delivering what some people want, which is also likely.

    I watched/listened to aris' stream and a few things cought my attention. I love that even though the tyre pressures now are wider, the behavior changes depending how you want the car to be. Closer to 26psi there's more tyre flex and more grip around low speed corners and acceleration zones, closer to 27psi its way more stable on high speed corners which sounds quite realistic to me. He even mix matched tyre pressures between front and rear to show the difference in behavior. The other thing is he said extreme setups may no longer be viable (max camber max negative toe front and rear). Jardier tried it and found out tyres overheated and had a lot of wear, which also sounds realistic to me. I'm looking forward to trying this update although I haven't touched acc in over a month due to work.

I have to say I wasn't impressed at all with iceracing. FFB and the physics are just too game boy for me. Putting a tire on the grass is just so unrealistic and the penalties you get just for touching another car or dropping a wheel off the track in a race is ridiculous. Damn, ever watch a real MX-5 or GT3 race? I'll still take AC, ACC or rF2 any day of the week. I think the 1.9 update feels pretty good. Valencia (Circuito Ricardo Tormo?) was a track on _Tourist Trophy,_ the motorcycle version of _Gran Turismo 4._ It took me a long time to really get comfortable on it; it's challenging and difficult to get the lap to flow. It seemed to be best suited to "middleweight" bikes, 500, 600, maybe 750 CCs. Since there's only one straight that's not all that long and the rest of it is turns of various radii, including increasing and decreasing, and some of them are off-camber, it favored the lighter, nimbler, lower-powered bikes. I wouldn't be a bit surprised if it wasn't the same for cars.

      When ACC went from 1.7 to 1.8, all of the feeling seemed to disappear from the DD1. Everyone was claiming, "New detail!" and "FFB feels amazing now!". To me it felt vague and uninteresting. I then spent hour upon hour trying to dial it all in again, trying new firmware, etc. But, of course, old memory gave way to new and I just got used to it eventually. I don't think I ever found a way to get the old FFB feeling back. I've yet to try 1.9.
      EDIT: Just did a quick 3 lap qualy at monza. Definitely more detail in FFB. Car feels a bit looser but more grip strangely. Better flow through Parabolica for instance but snappy on the edge (Ferrari 488).

    • @rankisdumb214
      @rankisdumb214 Год назад

      @@sneakygloworm I found it to be the exact opposite. Your detail comes from your gain. Then the strength of your FFB comes from your wheel. You can set the gain super high and the FFB on the wheel lower and get a ton of detail.
      When 1.8 came out I could literally feel when my tires were on the edge of a curb and feel every rumble when I went over curbs.
      For me that feeling is not gone.. Going over curbs is now a lot less punishing. While this is realistic on some tracks on others it's very unrealistic. Monza for example has the sausage curb on the outside of the last turn. You hit that in real life and odds are you're going to brake your car or wreck.
      Spa on the other hand has curbs that are much less tame then the game represents.
      My biggest problem with the update is how the rear tires spin once the car starts to slide. That's not realistic nor is the way the front tires feel they the wheel base.
      I did figure out it makes a big difference setting the steering lock on both the game and wheel to each individuals cars setting vs setting it at 800-900 and letting the game adjust for each car.
      I also found the less toe you use the better the car feels. The problem is the stock set ups for the Audi use a lot of toe. .15 on the front and
      .25 on the back. Those are realistic real life settings. Now they can't be used and must be toned down drastically or the car becomes undrivable.
      The one thing I've always been good at is consistency. When I look at my motec data from lap to lap it's almost a perfect overlay. Now I have to figure out a way to get more feeling back and figure out how to control a 4 wheel slide/slip angle.
      A perfect example is Donnington. My 1.8 lap times were consistently 1:27.2-5 and if I make a big mistake 1:28..
      I did a 30 min races weekend vs the AI and it took me several laps to get down into the 1:27's. I loved to slide the car around. If I made a mistake I could push it a tad harder later in the lap and make up the time I lost. Now that seems impossible

    After 2 years, I was about to give up on ACC, it just wasn't rewarding to drive. I felt like I had to perform a strict recipe of inputs to satisfy the handling monster, and it gave me no sense if I was successful based on the feedback. Only an obvious slide or my delta went backwards told me if I got it right or wrong.
    But now with 1.9 I feel like I actually have a say in how the car behaves, there's a cause-and-effect element that was missing before. The handling is more communicative and more forgiving, leading to a wider range of behaviours that can be extracted from the car.
    This update should give me a better chance to improve over time by allowing me to identify what inputs help or hurt my pace. Curb strikes are more realistic, alignment and tire behaviour is more realistic, and the new track is awesome.
    I'm thrilled with this update. If 1.9 serves as a test bed for AC2 next year, that should be an awesome game!

    Ive been commenting here and there over the years about that strange slide out of nowhere. Wasnt complaining too much just giving an opinion. Never really got any other response than learn how to drive.

    Well, ok I'll give you pass, you are a iracer. Acc for 6 months 1300 hrs on game abd the bew update is phynonimal the stupid is everything. Toe camber and the suspension (bumpstops, spring rate etc) all work together and that will change how you set up dampers and that xgabges the whole dynamic of the kerbs.
    Love you videos thank you for sharing.

      4380 hours in 6 months, you've spent 1300 hours in the game during that time, so you've spent 7 hours a day playing ACC for the last 6 months lol, take some vitamin D you'll feel better
