- Hot Water! Calorifier / Boiler Element, we replace ours. What a faff!! It took ages to get the boiler out and disconnected from the system. We show you how we did ours and what it looked like inside! Enjoy the video. Ant & Cid xx
Welcome to our channel.
We are now in season 7
In 2018 we left the UK to sail around the world slowly. After Brexit, a "Pandemic" and major heart surgery we are still sailing, documenting our travels and showing you what we have learned so far.
We are hoping to complete our journey, and travel right around the world even if we have had a few setbacks along the way. We will continue at our own pace and that may be fast or slow. We want to be sure not to miss anything and have stories to tell our grandchildren when we are old and grey.
Sail Safe Guys, Ant & Cid.
We do have a second channel YOUR DRONE TV It is a mix of music from classical to blues, from Opera to Punk all with stunning drone footage.

Well done! I think your "what a faff" comment is an understatement! I also have a Cruiser 37 with an identical calorifier installation. Just recently, the pressure relief valve, at the very bottom of the calorifier, became faulty, causing immense pulsations in the piping. I looked at the rats-nest of push-fit plumbing connections and decided that replacing the PRV wouldn't be an easy job - not helped by the fact that the valve appeared to have been sealed into the plumbing with epoxy. After thinking laterally for a while, I stumbled on a minimal effort solution. I bought a new PRV and a couple of push-fit connections, then cut into the PRV drain-off pipe (which was accessible) and installed the new PRV inline with the faulty PRV. I'm glad to say it all works a treat, as I don't fancy taking the calorifier out - especially after seeing your video!
Good call. Sail Safe mate. Ant & Cid
Hi, your tech videos are very intresting, great stuff.
That's a job I need to do on my Oyster 45' boiler. It's probably has never been done.
A few weeks back, in Spain, at Leroy Merlin show room they had a hard water filter at the tank's inlet which seemed a interesting idea.
Yes it does, we used their filters with the crystals in to sofen the water and keep down the limescale when we were in Spain. Sail Safe Guys, Ant & Cid.
I never realised there was an anode inside. Does that mean you have drunk some of the anode? You mention a filter on the water input. Where is that?
Basically yes. 👍 We use 20 micron and 5 micron filters on the hose we fill up the tanks with. But most of the time now we are running on water from the watermaker in the summer.
Yeah, I know. Done that, two times. Not a very hard job, but the working space 😐😐 I hope it's working fine now for the next 10 years. CU Guys
10 Years We hope. Now we have the watermaker it should be less limescale during the season. Sail Safe Guys, Ant & Cid. xx
What is the best way to deairate?
I believe when emptying the caloriefier there is always some air trapped after you filled it up.
It is not just opening a tap, is it?
Just open the tap. The air is pushed out by the water from the pump. Sail Safe mate. Ant & Cid
I really don't like how the thermostat is "fixed in place", you'd expect some kind of latch or screw.
It is quite a firm fix but, I agree a a mechanical fixing would be better. Ant.
