Raw Bodycam Footage Captures Police Shootout in San Juan, California (ROBLOX)

The San Juan Police Department on Friday released body-camera video from an officer-involved shooting that occurred shortly after the first of the year. Officer Sarah Ramirez was on patrol in the area of 61st and San Juan avenues on the morning of Friday, Jan. 20 when she spotted a car that appeared to have been involved in a crash parked along the road. As Ramirez approached the small red sedan, she noticed someone lying inside. That person has since been identified as Alex Martinez, 32. About a minute into the clip, a tense situation unfolds.
"Upon making contact, Alex Martinez revealed a concealed firearm under his shirt and then fired shots at Officer Sarah Ramirez," Sgt. Jason Thompson of the San Juan Police Department explained in a news release.
The body-camera footage captures several shots being fired, causing Officer Ramirez to back away from the car as she urgently calls in a "998," which is the radio code to inform everyone that an officer has been involved in a shooting. A few seconds later, another shot is heard, and Officer Ramirez yells, "Get on the ground!" Martinez then gets out of the car and fires another round at Ramirez before she is able to return fire. While waiting for backup, Ramirez warns nearby residents to stay inside their homes. In the background, Martinez can be heard yelling as a second police SUV arrives.
"Do not move. Do not reach for that gun again. Do you understand me?" Ramirez yells to Martinez. A second officer can be heard giving Martinez commands as additional units arrive at the scene. Officer Ramirez, who was not hurt, shoots and wounds Martinez. He is treated on-site by fire personnel and then transported to the hospital.
