From Season 4 Episode 2 "Sharpe's Siege": Sharpe marries his sweetheart Jane but, before the honeymoon is over, has to leave on a perilous mission to capture a French fort high in the Pyrenees. While he is away, Jane catches a deadly fever which is sweeping through the British camp.

Everyone in this scene has their own agenda. Sharpe wants promotion (and to serve honorably). The Count serves Bonaparte in secret. Ross and Wellington need a distraction and are all too ok with using the Count and Sharpe even though it means both are likely to die.
Meanwhile the general (off screen) is using his rank to get his son , a commission he doesn't deserve.
Friends/Allies can be more dangerous than your enemies

even wellington's terrible decision making wasn't too much for shahp's abilities to overcome.
Man looks exactly like Wellington, but I somehow can't get past him being Hastings in Poirot. I seem to associate his gestures with Hastings, I can't help it.
